I'm not arguing with you about this. If we reach 8 wins this year consider it superbowl celebration worthy. If we win, the scores will be 13-6 type games.

I hope our passing game resembles something of this century but something tells me that is wishful thinking. Our QB of the future will be sitting in next year's draft. These words are trustworthy and true.

    i think i predicted 8-8 or 9-7....

tougher schedule. if we get to 9-7 hopefully it's enough to eek out a playoff berth and that is SURELY nothing to dismiss as luck or lack of growth, just the opposite. you are prob right about our qb of the future. after building the lines and the defense i believe it will be time to go offensive playmakers while still adding depth to our lines.

To say that "the coaches know it's a throw away year" tells me that Debbie hasn't played an organized sport past T-ball, much less coached a sport at any level. Our coaches are busting their asses with long days, and they're agonizing over every cut they have to make. They feed and shelter their families being a coach in a win now business, and they all know they'll all be gone if they don't win.......... and yet you think they're all just sitting around talking about 2-3 years from now?? Fucking ridiculous.

I've read some pretty stupid things on this forum - quite a few from Debbie herself - but this one takes the cake. There isn't a member of the Browns organization that isn't giving their all to win, and to win now.

It may be throw away season to you but a lot of guys careers and livelihood hang in the balance and there is nobody on this team that aint lining up to win every week.

You make the statement that we may be the worst at these various skill positions.......now back it up.

Give your ranking of all 32 teams at the Skill positions....

Who has the best QB corps?

Who has the best WR corps?

Who has the best TE corps?

Who has the best RB corps?

If not this, but if you think the Browns are so low on the end of these rankings.....who do you think they are in competition with for the title of "The worst" of all these.

QB - Packers Aaron Rodgers nuff said

RB - Vikings Peterson is the best back and McKinnon is an intriguing guy, Asiata is servicable

WR - Gotta go with the Giants if were looking at depth. ODB, Cruz, Randle and James Jones. If were just looking at top 2, Id take the Lions with Calvin and Golden.

TE - Patriots. Gronk is the best TE to ever play, and they have decent depth with Chandler and Hoomanawanuwi

I can give you who's worse off than us...

QB's - Jets (Fitzpatrick), Bills (Taylor), Texans (Hoyer), Rams (Foles), Buccaneers (Winston), Titans (Mariota), Redskins (Cousins)

    RB's - Jets (Powell/Ivory), Atlanta (Freeman/Coleman), Panthers (Stewart/Whittaker), Cowboys (McFadden/Randle)

    WR's - Panthers (Brown/Ginn), Jaguars (Hurns/Robinson), Chiefs (Maclin/Wilson)

    TE's - Cardinals (Fells/Momah), Saints (Watson/Hill)

I'm sure there are more groups that we are at least "competetive" with, but these are the groups that I think we are obviously better than...

I'd also add that our offensive line is top 5, which helps. Plus, it's hard to rank our skill players because this is a new system and there are so many new pieces...

Not to mention, our D will be top 5 this year as well... with the #1 ranked secondary... so that will help...

  • The GipperT The Gipper wrote on last edited by

I wouldn't include Foles in that group. I would take him for the Browns right now.

yes. there are many that do the woulda shoulda coulda here for draft reasoning but i'll do it for trades and acquisitions.

foles would have been great but my big piss and moan is not looking at alex smith when he was available. just think he is a classic prototypical QB that could've been here for 10 years.

Smith and Maclin looked great this pre-season... so I would not put Maclin as worse than us.

Also agree on Foles not belonging on worse than us QB list. And to my surprise, I'm not sure Mariotta belongs on that list either. His transition to under center has been remarkable.

yessir. eye test right now has mariotta over winston as the better of the 2. a lot here IMO were right about him looking and being the part so far. hope the kid rips it up.

You won't get agreement in here but taken as a whole and subtracting the offensive line from the equation the Browns are in the discussion of the worst offenses in football hence the preseason predictions from basically everyone outside of Cleveland for a 6-10 type season. Defense should be solid.

Hes still only 26, and owns the record for TE TDs in a season, and is 5th for any position. Hes the only TE to ever have 4 consecutive double digit TD seasons. Hes a complete player because hes a helluva blocker also. I doubt he'll have the longevity of a Gonzalez or Shannon Sharpe though.

For such a freak athlete he is injury prone. Just goes to show that injuries are part of the sport, and no one is immune, even if they're 6 foot tall and white.
