West to Tennessee

Draft a guy in the third round. He exhibits attitude all year, gets beaten out by a street free agent, trade him for a conditional 7th.
The Farmer Formula.

Didn't we trade up for West? If my memory is correct and we did, that adds even more insult to injury.
For the #Browns to trade TWest with Duke Johnson in concussion protocol and for a conditional 7th rnder tells you how they felt about him
Makes me wonder what we were asking the "Boys for that they found to be too much...

4th and 6th for a 3rd IIRC...
If I were RF, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night because the wheels could come off the Browns bus quickly this season. A complete inability to add or develop playmakers on offense including QB, WR, and RB. Yes, everything could work out fine, but a few injuries and we're in big trouble. And now too many of his draft choices not making the cut.
Development is a Pet & Co. job and I would say they have...
JM improved this camp. Crow developed last year. Gabe, Benji and even Hawk have improved as well. Then there are plenty of examples on the D-side.
Farmer should be concerned about his organization's inability to avoid picks that have issues accepting coaching whatever the source of those issues. We've seen that for 2 years now and on both sides of the ball.

With saltine crackers on top

If it makes it seems any better, we essentially swapped West for Andy Lee..
I'd call that a win.
-
Oh well on west. I don't think we're going to pick up rice but if we do so be it. It wouldn't be the first time we relied on a washed up ex raven at running back
-
Christine Michael to the Cowboys. Now they have a RB. Missed our chance.
-
uff.
woe oh oh is me, i feel so badly for you.
-
Grossing says rice is never going to happen- my bet is that it will. No way the Browns don't go after him or Jonas Gray at this point. The writing is on the wall.

Exactly- you have The Crow, a guy on concussion protocol, and a practice squad guy. Crowell gets hurt, and we're up shit creek @ RB.

Free agent RB Ahmad Bradshaw's fractured leg is "completely healed."
Bradshaw is suspended for Week 1 after pleading no contest to misdemeanor marijuana possession in May, however. If Bradshaw is going to get signed, it probably won't happen until after the opener, when vested veterans get their base salaries guaranteed. We would guess that Bradshaw does land with a team at some point. He is injury riddled, but still effective at age 29.id like see them pick up bradshaw now west is gone

West being elsewhere= addition by subtraction, I don't care WHAT they got for him. I would have been fine if they had cut him.

if pet had enough of his whining cutting him would have been a better option. If we were going to deal him, the day was Saturday with Dallas & Houston. Instead we pissed on him Saturday than had to flush him Sunday. If we don't deal on Grey, Ball, Rice or Bradshaw again this "great" OL can't run the ball too. Hope good news on JM & Duke will make this day go away..

Not good trade strategy:
"Ummm ... you kept six offensive linemen ... so obviously you are getting rid of West ... I'll give you a conditional 7th to basically move to the top of the waiver wire."

This has kept him from practicing and a full work load in the past. Even though he's a bad ass; we're probably only looking at a fraction of the player he was.
Jonas Gray intrigues me. Maybe BB/NE preferring an oft-troubled LeGarrette Blount gives this kid the kick in the dumpster he needs to giddyup and get after it. Pro Football Weekly Preview 2015 listed Jonas Gray as NE's Offensive breakout player. FWIW, Blount walked out on his last team (Pitt) at halftime on MNF here in Nashville not too long after he got arrested for marijuana possession. BB forgave that so Blount could be his workhorse in the playoffs. If a guy like that could get 2nd and 3rd chances - it might not hurt to have Pettine give Gray a 2nd chance.

People forget so quickly. Farmer trading up and getting West in round 3 was universally accepted as a coup by the draft community.
As Higdon pointed out, it's insane they didn't know or care about his work ethic and personality problems considering they had a former Towson coach on their staff.
