Its time to Fire Pettine

The Browns Board

  • Haslam needs to give 20% ownership and a zillion dollars to Ted Thompson. That guy could draft an actual turd and it would turn to gold.

  • They could have had Rubin, Sheard and Skrine, but that would mean that we couldn't have gotten Bowe.... oh, wait....

I agree.....it would be dumb to fire Pettine.....it was brutal watching his pressy though.....can see a lil crack in the armor....it will be interesting to see how he(and the team) respond.....

If Im questioning coaches......#1 is Flip.....and #1B is ONeill.....good position coaches, but maybe they are in over their heads as coordinators.....

I give Flip some rope because he is a rookie coordinator, although the run game seems to be regressing. How much, if any of this, is due to OL Coach Moeller's situation?

O'Neil, on the other hand, told us after last season that the run D WILL improve!...WHEN?

In addition, we have literally NO pass rush. Carr had all day to throw yesterday. I'm not sold on him as a D coordinator at all.

I guess we'll see what happens, but even I am growing impatient.

Another example of great minds thi... aw... whatever...

Rookies and 2nd-year execs are going to make mistakes...

The question is: Are Pet and Farm learning from their mistakes?

i can see my way to this for Pettine. Farmers list of ridiculous decisions is just to the point of ridiculous. His texting violating both NFL rules and any semblance of chain of command should have got him fired. Bowe is a $9 million dollar buddy to buddy abuse of power. Those two top a top ten list made for late night TV.
  • I'm not in line with the firing of Pettine, Farmer, et al but think Flip (rookie OC) & O'Neil have a LONG ways to go before they are successful at the NFL level. I also think we're missing Moeller more than many of us thought we would & I also seriously question our strength & conditioning program. We have WAY too many lingering injuries, ESPECIALLY hamstrings.

We'll just have to wait & see what happens.

Pettine is an emotionless blah blah blah softie. He does nothing to Fire this team up

Paul brown was emotionless on the sidelines.. .. So that makes him bad?

I think Paul's and Tom's glares were more than enough to communicate their emotional state...

Of course, blank stare meant tickled shitless....

Pet stood up for Bowe in his 9/28 Presser...

"It's a long season... we expect him to contribute... he's as disappointed as we are..."

Seemed genuine, but I'll be curious to see if anything develops after Farmer is back from suspension...

Here is the problem with the Browns:

1)When was the last time we gave our HC enough time without firing him? The last one was Romeo and he deserved it. We need to give them time to fully implement their schemes. Pettine has not been here long enough to allow that to happen.

2)The same goes for (our GM) Farmer. We should give them time to learn from their mistakes. Who's to say Farmer doesn't learn not to go after washed up players like Bowe. We are one of very few teams in the league that has a revolving door policy when it comes to GMs and HCs.

We will forever be known as a team that continues to get a new GM and HC. I say we give both the HC and GM about 5 years to show what they can do. If we are in the same boat, when we fire both of them. But 5 years minimum.

PS-add the QB position to that list and then you have it exactly right.

  • I totally agree with the above 2 posts. Maybe though, we go back in time & suggest the Steelers fire Chuck Noll after 1-13, 5-9 & 6-8 seasons or the 49ers fire Bill Walsh after 2-14 & 6-10 seasons. PATIENCE people, PATIENCE. The key is that they learn OJT. I'm willing to wait & see what happens.Hell, at my age, I should be one of the biggest basket cases on this board but I don't plan on kickin' the bucket anytime soon, so they have some time left to bring me a Super Bowl.

I'm not saying fire petine, but the above coaches you stated at least showed progress each year. we'll see what happens the rest of the season, but we need to see progress each year. just my opinion of course

  • We saw progress last year and last I checked this year is not over...

But five years? How 'bout 4?

While I am also planning on being around a while, at four I get an extra cycle in a 20-year period.

Lord knows tho... I sure hope we don't need an extra cycle...

  • We are comparing Mike Pettine to Chuck Knoll now?

    For fucks sake...

The texting thing was not a mistake. It was a clear indication of his narcissism and disregard for rules. It was also a blatant indication of his disrespect towards the HC.

I saved this as I expected at least one response like yours. After Bill Walsh's 1st 2 seasons I mentioned, he went 13-3, then 3-6 & they still didn't fire him. Consistent winning patterns don't usually happen overnight.

Walter, I won't even dignify your inane statements with a response beyond this... What grade are you in?

    I totally apologize.

Mike Pettine has done wonders and his decision to start the savy toughened vet payed off Sunday.

I'm sorry I'm not a "real Browns fan" and at the age of 28 not able to understand what it was like "in your day" with the The Kardiac Kids.

We just need to give Pettine and Famer a solid 5 years more of McCowns, Tates, Wests, Gilberts, Houslers, Bowe's, and Mayles.

We just need to give Pettine more time so the players won't look like lackadaisical assholes on Sundays.

See, you're all about extremes. It's either 'fire all the everything' or you're incredibly condescending with the opposite. There's no middle ground, which is where a bulk of the truth in things are found.

As for the 'back in my day' - You just assume I'm much older (if at all) because I'm level headed. You couldn't be more wrong.

    It's just bullshit after bullshit.

These players have no fire, no passion, no heart, no guts, and zero accountability.

Where the fuck is Justin Gilbert? Isn't he Pettines hand picked guy?

Where is Bowe? Why is Haden all the sudden so awful? So many high picks on the o-line and shit performance weekly.

Why do we let talent slip away to other teams? (Tj Ward, Jordan Cameron, Jabaal Sheard, Dion Lewis, etc)

I'm just sick of the fucking excuses from the same passive aggressive assholes.
