could Joey Bosa start for the Browns tommorrow...

  • He'll most likely start next year on whatever team drafts him so yes he can start for the browns. Would he be the most dominant rusher? Maybe on the browns but not on many teams.

  • Big difference between a college offensive line and the NFL. Bosa could be a "bust" in the NFL. Start right now? What are you smokin?

never stated anything to the contrary. I'm not saying he would dominate NFL offensive lineman, my point was that his skillset is already further along than anybody on the Browns roster save perhaps for Armonty. Strength wise it's hard to say where he's at compared to the NFL, he at least looks like he'd have no problems dealing with NFL lineman in the strength dept..but that's not something anyone knows for sure.

But the hand skills....but those hand skills. That's why I would make the argument that even if he was put on the Browns roster tommorrow and was maybe not quite strong enough yet, his hand skills would likely get him closer to the QB than most if any of our guys. I mean just watch his tape. He changes up his rush, sometimes he just sticks his hands out and holds the lineman in place while he thoughtfully analyzes the run play....I mean this is what you'd think NFL scouts drool over. And he doesn't just set the edge, he sets it than fights off it. Can he do that in the NFL? Maybe, we'll see...but he's further along right now that alot of guys were in college who are dominating the NFL right now.

That a college kid "right now" could conceivably be the most skilled pass rusher on the Browns roster if he was on it.

I'm as much an Ohio State homer as anyone- but cool it on Bosa. I thought "Big Daddy" Dan Wilkinson was gonna be the next Reggie White- and I was sure wrong about that one.

Sure Bosa is a lock first round pick, as of now- but things can change.

Hey, Zeke Elliot is a sure fire first rounder too. 🙂

  • Maybe O'Neil could use him to cover Antonio brown or aj green.

  • Look at who the buckeyes are playing. Do you see him going up against potential NFL caliber o-linemen now? Love OSU but I'm always leery of drafting guys just because they're ex buckeyes. Let them run the table and play some high level teams in the playoffs.

Friggin michigan starting to play now. Harbaugh didn't waste much time.

    Exactly.

  • Love me some Bosa and all that stuff....

....but, since were talking about pass rushing, his 1 sack in 5 games(against inferior talent) isnt exactly dominating.....and since we're comparing him to Browns players, Id point out that the Browns are DEFINITELY playing superior talent, yet some have more sacks than bosa(and in fewer games).....

    So....whatever....

His suspension for one of them wasn't all that warm and fuzzy either.

  • Pointless thread but the answer is yes...easily.

  • anybody watching this garbage that wouldn't want to see the kid out there right now in a Browns uni?

  • Just watch those targeting calls

We're down 5 to a divisional rival at halftime.

  • cause we're playing so well right? look i don't care if we fall into a win here ass backwards cause the Ravens have their own issues....this is still shiite. The fact the Ravens have only 14 pts at halftime is more an indictment of them than it is the result of anythign we're doing.

As much as I like your posts Clev, Bosa's got 1 sack against Sigma Phi Epsilon + he's already been suspended.

Does our history tell us this type of guy is ideal to throw a nice big contract and signing bonus at?

  • No.

1st round contracts are hardly franchise crippling anymore with the structure in the CBA.

I couldn't agree more. Have you seen him play lately? Sometimes good, sometimes very bad.

True. That aside, a first round draft selection is still an important investment to our roster with so people spend a lot of time worrying about how guys like Manziel and Gilbert end up turning out. Bosa shows me that he handled a successful 2014 season with a need to be suspended already in 2015. Along the same line, Josh Gordon followed a Pro Bowl Season in 2013 with 2 consecutive suspensions in 2014 and 2015. While his cap hit is minimal per say, we had hoped there would have been more good football from the guy since we got him in 2012.

I'm seeing red flags with Bosa even though I wish I wasn't.

  • Aside from the 1 game suspension, what red flags?

  • yeah i actually did not know about his susp against Va tech. I missed that game was out of town. I cannot find anything about what he did, Urbs is keeping the suspension of 4 players during that game closed. Oh well we'll eventually know what it was for cause it has to be disclosed to the NFL prior to the draft. Still want him though. As for his play this year he's constantly within a couple steps of the QB regardless of his sack numbers. Frankly that entire defense looks like it's playing just hard enough to keep the offense ahead, they're playing to be healthy at the end of the season. Also one could probably surmise that Bosa is trying to keep himself healthy cause he's going to be a top 5 pick, cause he seems to dial it up and down at will.
