Wouldn't matter either way....but, like Ghoolie said....get rid of that fat ass primadonna, Joe Thomas

The fact that this is a statement that has been said on this forum means its about time for me to leave.

What? You don't think it is perfectly reasonable to suggest trading a hall of a famer?

  • no, the defense was awesome last week. The 80 yard td pass given up was bad, but the THREE ints(including one pick 6) more than made up for it. Had the offense even been a C- against the broncos(granted an excellent defense), we win going away.....

The defense gave the offense that game on a silver platter TWICE late in 4th qtr and OT when it was tied. Once Mccown threw a dreadful pick in opponents territory(where he just wildly threw it up) and once he took a terrible sack to take us out of fg range after we picked manning off....again.

It was an outstanding defensive performance against Denver.....completely wasted by the o.

  • cause our O line is so good we can just trade the best one away right?

    Of course it's reasonable.

To dumbasses who don't understand a single thing about football. Absolutely, 100% reasonable to them.

  • When RG3, gets out of Washington, I'm sure someone will sign him

OK, as one said, McCown can put up numbers, but he can't win.

    I would prefer the opposite.

Reasonable? Sure. But, again, it isn't JT that is the problem. Stopping the run......scoring points is the problem. For that, the solution must be dealt with on the defense, and offensive skill players.

  • Mccown's 'numbers' aren't as good as some of you guys think when using more sophisticated(and more useful) metrics. His qbr the last two games has been pretty bad, for example.

Just reading off his stat line from yesterday in terms of completions, attempts and yards it looks ok(not great, but ok) I guess. But then when you dig a little deeper.....2 bad turnovers, only 6 points scored total, no big downfield gamechanging plays produced, 0 tds, etc.....

In the Baltimore and san diego game he put up good stats....with whatever you look at. In the other 3 full games he has played, not so much.

Well, I think that was kinda my point when I said that I would prefer a guy that wins to a guy that puts up nice numbers.

  • While I basically agree with Z.....I suggest the opposite........make Johnny earn his money. Make him prove himself the rest of the year. Make him play.......and if he confirms what Z says.....ditch him at the end of the year.

It would not make me unhappy to go into next year with Davis and McCown in as the backups.....in whatever order.....and bring in either a rookie of some other high prospect to play.

THE guy they passed on was Brandon Marshall for a sixth round pick. $@&$@#%+%¥{!!!!!!!!!!!

Z and the sunshine up your ass guys don't want to hear it- but with the Rams loss, the season is toast. To have a realistic playoff shot- the Browns need to go 8-1. I'll take all comers for $20 who say it's going to happen.

McCown was brought in because Farmer (and maybe Pettine) thought Josh gave us the best chance to "win now". Guess what? We're not winning. Time to put the kid in to see what he's got- he can't hardly do any worse than 1-4, which is McCown's record in games he had a significant hand in.

I've seen enough of the Jake Delhomme, Trent Dilfer, Jeff Garcia scenarios to know that anything coming out of Pettine or Farmer's mouth now is CYA bullshit.

Finally- regarding Manziel's slide- get over it dudes. The game was OVER, regardless of whether Johnny made the first down or not. FWIW- being at the game, the Rams were playing tissue soft prevent defense. So he would have been a hero diving for the first and gotten hurt? We're down to a third string qb for the Cardinals game. You guys must LOVE losing- because I sure as hell don't.

  • This whole board is fucked up. Like the Browns. Please fucking ban me.

I could have swore you left for the year last week. Just thought I'd point out that you can easily ban yourself. If you can't figure out how start a thread on it. The replies should be priceless.

We love losing because we prefer the starter over the backup?

  • Ok ... Mr. Small Ball who cant commit himself to football, let alone the Browns ... is the bright spot.

I don't like him. I made up my mind today. Just like I did with Weeden, McCoy and Quinn, and I was right.

    Cut bait.

    Zombo

-- Josh would have taken the hit. Sipe, Kosar, Ryan nor Graham are not driving down the berm of the interstate at breakneck speed battling with a woman. Cut the fucker.

You rarely shortchange. Thought I'd give you a hat tip.

  • Start Manziel - or suspend/cut him.

If it's like last year he might get hurt by the second game, and then we can see Josh or the 3rd string qb by default

Or we can see Manziel stay healthy and embrace the suck

Or Manziel could play out the year and suck and we'll hear the bad WR excuse

  • Pettine is a stubborn asshole and it will end up costing him his job.

  • @douche-nozzle said:

Hoorta; You and most Browns fans knew this was the case before the season started; the cheerleaders will always believe their boyfriend will throw the winning home run to save the city.

What I don't get is how many Browns fans I've heard complaining how they were sold a bill of goods about the defense and the running game. The defense was the last against the run last year and what did they do to improve? The running game featured a couple guys with an upside and very little experience.....surrounded by a complete lack of talent at skill positions. Benjamin has been a nice surprise but how far does that take you?

We may have been pitched a bill of goods about the defense and running game.....but that doesn't mean we totally bought into it.

I do believe the talent is there on defense....but what we had last year and again this year is the same DC. I am now convinced that this guy is incapable of getting this defense to perform up to its talent.

As for the running game....We can only go by the fact that last year the run game....in terms of yardage and TDs was quite decent.

They were 17th in rushing yards......and only all of 24 yards less than your team for the entire year.....and they were 4th in the league in rushing TDs.

So, at least there, there was some substance to purchase.

But, have they regressed this year? Certainly. They now stand 26th in rushing, 28th in TDs.

Somehow I don't just losing Terence West is what made all the difference there.

Again....I thought you were leaving after last week? Still shouting at the rain here like that asswipe in the youtube videos begging for people to look at you??

  • Riggins was a booze hound and thrived in D.C. Maybe Manziel could too. RG3 was Rookie of the Year over Luck and Russell Wilson. Him throwing to his ex-teammate Josh Gordon next year might work. Or not. Fuck.

Of course, I'd make that trade.

Maybe both guys need a change of location.

What is there - truth be told - to lose (for either team)

  • VesnaKociper said:

I called RG3 a bust before he ever took a snap. Quarterbacks who run first and pass second are shit. RG is pure shit. Manziel is pure shit.

The Browns need to find a QB with heart; one who wants to play, one who wants to win. People are so intoxicated with meaningless shit like height, weight, speed, etc..... completely overlook the things that are really important. Browns players have no character, no heart, no personal responsibility.

    Fire the entire team.

Trade who has value, Joe Thomas is a guy who should have been traded 5 years ago.

Tom, usually your talent assessment is right on. Manziel at least needs 10 more games before he's labeled a bust. Most teams give first round quarterbacks far more chances than that before they cut bait.

I know your opinion about linemen- Joe might be slipping some, but he's heading for the HOF eventually. What's puzzling is we have 3 first rounders, and a second rounder on offensive line- and they still can't block worth a damn. I doubt that's due to talent assessment. If you don't have guys who know how to work as a unit- it doesn't work.

Incidentally- Andrew Luck is heading on a Tim Couch injury spiral- if the Colts don't get an offensive line that can block for him.
