As was said elsewhere- the Pats ran 9 times the entire game and won. I was just watching some of the ESPN commentary on the Pats Jets game. Funny how Brady can get a pass off when the Jets sent 10, but McCown takes sacks in similar circumstances. OK- he's not Brady- no one is, but I expect better out of our quarterback. FWIW, that's why no one else wanted Josh as a starter.

While I basically agree with Z.....I suggest the opposite........make Johnny earn his money. Make him prove himself the rest of the year. Make him play.......and if he confirms what Z says.....ditch him at the end of the year.
It would not make me unhappy to go into next year with Davis and McCown in as the backups.....in whatever order.....and bring in either a rookie of some other high prospect to play.

Fair enough.......75% of the problems may be coaching. I know it is on the defense. There is talent that that this DC cannot get to play.

no, the defense was awesome last week. The 80 yard td pass given up was bad, but the THREE ints(including one pick 6) more than made up for it. Had the offense even been a C- against the broncos(granted an excellent defense), we win going away.....
The defense gave the offense that game on a silver platter TWICE late in 4th qtr and OT when it was tied. Once Mccown threw a dreadful pick in opponents territory(where he just wildly threw it up) and once he took a terrible sack to take us out of fg range after we picked manning off....again.
It was an outstanding defensive performance against Denver.....completely wasted by the o.

Reasonable? Sure. But, again, it isn't JT that is the problem. Stopping the run......scoring points is the problem. For that, the solution must be dealt with on the defense, and offensive skill players.

Mccown's 'numbers' aren't as good as some of you guys think when using more sophisticated(and more useful) metrics. His qbr the last two games has been pretty bad, for example.
Just reading off his stat line from yesterday in terms of completions, attempts and yards it looks ok(not great, but ok) I guess. But then when you dig a little deeper.....2 bad turnovers, only 6 points scored total, no big downfield gamechanging plays produced, 0 tds, etc.....
In the Baltimore and san diego game he put up good stats....with whatever you look at. In the other 3 full games he has played, not so much.

McCown was brought in because Farmer (and maybe Pettine) thought Josh gave us the best chance to "win now". Guess what? We're not winning. Time to put the kid in to see what he's got- he can't hardly do any worse than 1-4, which is McCown's record in games he had a significant hand in.
I've seen enough of the Jake Delhomme, Trent Dilfer, Jeff Garcia scenarios to know that anything coming out of Pettine or Farmer's mouth now is CYA bullshit.
Finally- regarding Manziel's slide- get over it dudes. The game was OVER, regardless of whether Johnny made the first down or not. FWIW- being at the game, the Rams were playing tissue soft prevent defense. So he would have been a hero diving for the first and gotten hurt? We're down to a third string qb for the Cardinals game. You guys must LOVE losing- because I sure as hell don't.
