While I basically agree with Z.....I suggest the opposite........make Johnny earn his money. Make him prove himself the rest of the year. Make him play.......and if he confirms what Z says.....ditch him at the end of the year.

It would not make me unhappy to go into next year with Davis and McCown in as the backups.....in whatever order.....and bring in either a rookie of some other high prospect to play.

Z and the sunshine up your ass guys don't want to hear it- but with the Rams loss, the season is toast. To have a realistic playoff shot- the Browns need to go 8-1. I'll take all comers for $20 who say it's going to happen.

McCown was brought in because Farmer (and maybe Pettine) thought Josh gave us the best chance to "win now". Guess what? We're not winning. Time to put the kid in to see what he's got- he can't hardly do any worse than 1-4, which is McCown's record in games he had a significant hand in.

I've seen enough of the Jake Delhomme, Trent Dilfer, Jeff Garcia scenarios to know that anything coming out of Pettine or Farmer's mouth now is CYA bullshit.

Finally- regarding Manziel's slide- get over it dudes. The game was OVER, regardless of whether Johnny made the first down or not. FWIW- being at the game, the Rams were playing tissue soft prevent defense. So he would have been a hero diving for the first and gotten hurt? We're down to a third string qb for the Cardinals game. You guys must LOVE losing- because I sure as hell don't.

We love losing because we prefer the starter over the backup?

  • Ok ... Mr. Small Ball who cant commit himself to football, let alone the Browns ... is the bright spot.

I don't like him. I made up my mind today. Just like I did with Weeden, McCoy and Quinn, and I was right.

    Cut bait.

    Zombo

-- Josh would have taken the hit. Sipe, Kosar, Ryan nor Graham are not driving down the berm of the interstate at breakneck speed battling with a woman. Cut the fucker.

You rarely shortchange. Thought I'd give you a hat tip.

  • Start Manziel - or suspend/cut him.

If it's like last year he might get hurt by the second game, and then we can see Josh or the 3rd string qb by default

Or we can see Manziel stay healthy and embrace the suck

Or Manziel could play out the year and suck and we'll hear the bad WR excuse

  • Pettine is a stubborn asshole and it will end up costing him his job.

Hoorta; You and most Browns fans knew this was the case before the season started; the cheerleaders will always believe their boyfriend will throw the winning home run to save the city.

What I don't get is how many Browns fans I've heard complaining how they were sold a bill of goods about the defense and the running game. The defense was the last against the run last year and what did they do to improve? The running game featured a couple guys with an upside and very little experience.....surrounded by a complete lack of talent at skill positions. Benjamin has been a nice surprise but how far does that take you?

We may have been pitched a bill of goods about the defense and running game.....but that doesn't mean we totally bought into it.

I do believe the talent is there on defense....but what we had last year and again this year is the same DC. I am now convinced that this guy is incapable of getting this defense to perform up to its talent.

As for the running game....We can only go by the fact that last year the run game....in terms of yardage and TDs was quite decent.

They were 17th in rushing yards......and only all of 24 yards less than your team for the entire year.....and they were 4th in the league in rushing TDs.

So, at least there, there was some substance to purchase.

But, have they regressed this year? Certainly. They now stand 26th in rushing, 28th in TDs.

Somehow I don't just losing Terence West is what made all the difference there.

Again....I thought you were leaving after last week? Still shouting at the rain here like that asswipe in the youtube videos begging for people to look at you??

  • Riggins was a booze hound and thrived in D.C. Maybe Manziel could too. RG3 was Rookie of the Year over Luck and Russell Wilson. Him throwing to his ex-teammate Josh Gordon next year might work. Or not. Fuck.

Of course, I'd make that trade.

Maybe both guys need a change of location.

What is there - truth be told - to lose (for either team)

I called RG3 a bust before he ever took a snap. Quarterbacks who run first and pass second are shit. RG is pure shit. Manziel is pure shit.

The Browns need to find a QB with heart; one who wants to play, one who wants to win. People are so intoxicated with meaningless shit like height, weight, speed, etc..... completely overlook the things that are really important. Browns players have no character, no heart, no personal responsibility.

    Fire the entire team.

Trade who has value, Joe Thomas is a guy who should have been traded 5 years ago.

Tom, usually your talent assessment is right on. Manziel at least needs 10 more games before he's labeled a bust. Most teams give first round quarterbacks far more chances than that before they cut bait.

I know your opinion about linemen- Joe might be slipping some, but he's heading for the HOF eventually. What's puzzling is we have 3 first rounders, and a second rounder on offensive line- and they still can't block worth a damn. I doubt that's due to talent assessment. If you don't have guys who know how to work as a unit- it doesn't work.

Incidentally- Andrew Luck is heading on a Tim Couch injury spiral- if the Colts don't get an offensive line that can block for him.

Could give a shit if he's right.....just sick of the pussies that come in here after losses and say "i'm done watching this team" or "i'm done with this season...I'm not going to watch anymore. And they're right back here with the same negative nonsense the very next week.

Everyone who says fire the coach (with the exception of Walter) never has a suggestion of who the team should hire if they make a change. And then, how long do you give the new front office and staff to turn things around? 1 year? 2 years? Should we just keep changing every single year until we get it right?

To those who say, I'm done- OK- be done already. You know I'll be here, even if the team ends up 2-14. Unless there's a drastic turnaround- it's looking like yet another lost season in Browns Town.

It's just human nature Mark- perennial losing breeds negativity. Always some armchair quarterbacks who think they can do better, without offering any suggestions how to improve the situation.

Trade a week-old moldy cheeseburger with pickles for a week-old moldy cheeseburger with tomato?

Now if you really love tomato and really hate pickles, you may think it's a good idea but they will both make you sick.

    This actually made me laugh...

  • @douche-nozzle said:

True enough but regardless of the merit of this DC or that OC or this position coach or that head coach, you have to accept that there are two things at work in Cleveland Ohio when it comes to the Browns.

    1. Proven coaches simply are not going to come here.

Nobody knows what a proven coach is until they prove it.

Bill Belichick was a proven losing coach before he went to NE.....now everyone is up his asshole about how great he is.

    2. Given point number 1., the lesser of two evils is likely to be that you let the people you have try to make something of what they have rather than fire them and start with another unknown.

Sure, again, yes, to a point. Take the Belichick case again BB had losing seasons here in 4 out of his 5 years.....But he had just come off his first winning season and was probably building something decent here (though he had no young Tom Brady to carry him here....just an old Vinny). Then Modell undermined him with the whole "move" debacle during the 1995 season and nothing then could stop that team from losing after that. Then, and technically, the sourpuss BB was the HC of the Baltimore Ravens when he was fired by Modell. The settlement that granted Modell a new franchise in B-more and which allowed him to carry certain assets over their, including players, coaches and FO personell came whileBB was still HC. Modell had enough bad publicity all on his own. He didn't want to sour the relationship with his new Johns by having the curmudgeon Belichick around. So he got rid of him ASAP.

We suspect that had Modell not gotten so deep in debt (remember...he lost 2 franchises because of it: Browns and Ravens) and if the Browns as constituted then had stayed here, and BB remained coach....he may have very well gotten a very, very competitive team on the field. This fits your moral......sometimes you gotta stick with what you got and eventually you will be rewarded. Look at the Bengals and Marvin Lewis. Look at the Cowboys with Tom Landry: 5 losing seasons to begin that franchise, but then they were one of the best with him for years to come.

Better yet.....think about Chuck Noll. He had losing years his first three years there.

What if they had dumped Noll after his second....or third losing season?

So your moral is well taken.

(I just wish we had guys picking draft picks the way Noll had someone making picks for him......who was that? Noll? Rooney? Someone else?)

  • r.e.t.a.r.d =Retard? lmfao

  • ... but do you know who is the moldy burger? the pickle? the tomato? 😳

  • I would take a bag of stale chips for JFF..

  • Yes. Definitely
