After Rams game, what I think I thunk
-
The NFL fucked us by suspending Gordon for the year, they fucked us last year for suspending him 10 games for some bullshit too. He's our blue chip WR that can't be covered and the NFL allows these fucking refs to ref one sided and determine the outcomes of too many fucking Browns games. I can't stand these refs. They are one sided for most of the game until the other team pulls far enough away to allow them to start to call plays.
On that Johnny Manziel slide at the end the QB gave himself up and still that faggot Ram bashes in helmet first on a defenseless QB. NO Call. Same ticky tack garbage ref calls all game on Schwartz, Thomas and the DBs. Complete and utter bullshit. The Rams lead with a helmet on our QB with a late hit and no call. Dirty fucks, I hate them.
Agree 100%.
We got our name, team and colors back, and that's it. I don't see any other team get shafted as often as the Browns.
Being inept at personnel decisions, coaching decisions is one thing. The (unjustified) penalties are too frequent, something isn't right.

FWIW its not just the Browns. In last night's game there were a few calls that had Jon Gruden scratching his head. They called a hold on a TE for the Cardinals and Gruden said "I see nothing there that would have warranted that flag". And I agreed. Replays showed absolutely nothing than the fact that a blocker was engaged with a defender.

Cleveland Browns' offensive line needs to pick up its game instead of picking up its quarterback: Tom Reed analysis
BEREA, Ohio β If the NFL wanted to punish Johnny Manziel for his recent off-field incident, it should have ordered coach Mike Pettine to put him into Sunday's game earlier and let the backup absorb the abuse Josh McCown suffered.
"I saw a couple hits today watching the film and I'm like, 'How did he get up from that one?'" left guard Joel Bitonio told reporters Monday. "It's tough to see, but he's a tough guy, man."
No,no,no...Joel Bitonio. The point here is not how tough McCown is but that he is not getting the blocking protection from our offensive line.

Great line by Mr. Reed... StL was easily the hardest hitting D we've faced in 2015. But it's not too late as here come AZ. Similar mold, but not quite to the Rams level.

Yep and IMO Josh ripped the locker room apart. We were fine without him and when he did come back and wanting to know why JM is not the starting QB the shit went south. I really think Brian Hoyer should still be our QB, but even that would not fix our D

Every headcoach we have had here since 1999 doesn't deserve to be a headcoach in the NFL
I would have liked to have seen Mangini for longer. But whatever. Browns.

I don't see any other team that has hired him as a hc since he was fired from the browns. Don't think i would have liked to see him any longer than the time he was here...

i hear ya, but we don't get to see every angle. Can't remember which game it was but there was a fumble that was challenged but the only angle they showed on tv was the back of the rb who fumbled the ball...

OTOH, on one of the Cardinal's TDs I saw a flagrant hold that didn't get called. The Arizona dude almost tore the Ratbird's jersey off.

Seems to be mental masturbation to me. Football isn't rocket science. You put your money into the guy throwing the ball first, then the guys who catch it and run it.
Gipper would point out how many high draft picks we spent on QBs and WRs and RBs, but that holds no water. Choosing shit like Manziere and Quinn don't equate to spending picks on playmakers.... when you continually pass on people like Toothlesberger, AP, Julio Jones, Green, etc... you get predictable, easy to snuff out offense.... which in turn exhausts the defense..... which in turn makes the OL look like shit.
I hear you....its just that the Browns apparently thought they were getting the likes of BR/AP/Jones/AJ Green when they took the TRs and Weedens and JMZ etc. HIndsight is easy.
But....you need to tell Ray Farmer...HE has no interest in drafting any WRs in rounds 1,2,3.
Since 1999 the Browns have gone after only one real hot prospect and that was Couch. Rolling the dice on playmakers is of course risky.... but the Browns roll the dice on mediocrity, get it a high percentage of the time.... and then complain that they can't win.
Again, Hindsight....I suspect they didn't think they were rolling the dice on mediocrity.....I think they thought they were going for the best there was.....but, of course, yes, they were wrong.
This is fucking idiotic. Only Browns fans believe that somehow shit talent like Josh Cribbs, will be a low cost answer to the stars the other teams win with.
Josh Cribbs was better at HIS job: returning kicks and covering kicks than anyone any other team had...practically ever in the history of the NFL. But you and perhaps others wanted him to do some other job, apparently. He should not have been asked to be the team's savior.....just return kicks.
The Browns have no playmakers, not a single one. You have to be out of your mind to expect wins with shit players.
I would say not enough. Duke Johnson may turn out to be really something. Travis Benjamin can play....but no, not enough.
Joe Thomas was the most idiotic waste of a pick in the history of the NFL. He has nobody to block for.......
Well, right.....but that is not his fault. Brady Quinn and Trent Richardson were supposed to be the second coming of Troy Aikman and Emmit Smith. If they were.....you wouldn't have to sleep nights worrying about Joe Thomas.
Here is the problem: say they do what you want....they trade JT for a high draft pick.....and they get the next Weeden/Richardson/Quinn/Manziel.
Then you still got fuckall in the way of skill players....because that is the Browns record, and now you don't have your HOF LT.
I cannot trust this organization to trade JT for something that becomes any good. Do you?
So what do you buy first, a car, or a garage? We bought the garage and now are pissed because our neighbor is driving around town in a hot car.
No, we also bought the car.....its just that we were buying a Yugo, Gremlin and Ford Pinto into that garage.

Too many mistakes and penalties that haven't been cleaned up almost halfway through the season has cost this club big time:
"Against the Rams on Sunday, the Browns fumbled the football away four times and committed 11 penalties. If you think these mistakes didn't directly lead to the Browns' loss, consider the following:
-Two first-quarter fumbles led to 10 St. Louis points. A fumble by receiver Taylor Gabriel was returned for a touchdown and another by quarterback Josh McCown put the Rams in field-goal range.
-In the third quarter, with the Browns down just four points, McCown hit tight end Gary Barnidge for a long gain up to the Cleveland 42-yard line. The Browns were called for holding on the very next play and again three plays after that. Cleveland punted and the Rams scored a touchdown on their next possession.
-The second of those two holding calls wiped out a 36-yard pass play to wideout Travis Benjamin that would have put the Browns at the St. Louis 21-yard line. Had the play stood, Cleveland would have been in position to cut the deficit to one or even take a three-point lead.
-In the fourth quarter, with the Browns down 11, McCown again hit Benjamin on a long-gainer, but Benjamin was hit and fumbled on the Rams 42-yard line.
Before the Rams scored their first offensive touchdown after the two-holding-call sequence in the third quarter, the Browns defense had done a nice job of shutting the Rams down. With fewer mistakes, the entire complexion of the game could have changedβand this isn't a fresh trend for the 2015 Browns.
The Browns have fumbled the ball 13 times in seven games this season. That's nearly twice a game. Even more alarming is the fact that the Browns have committed 60 penalties for 492 yards.
That equates to an average of more than 70 penalty yards per game. The Browns can't eliminate all penalties, of course. However, the San Francisco 49ers (37.7 penalty yards per game) are barely averaging half of what Cleveland is, and the Minnesota Vikings (43.5 per game) are averaging nearly 30 yards less per game in penalties.
Could the Browns use an extra 30 yards a game? Yes. Could they use fewer penalties coming at the most inopportune times? Absolutely.
We won't get too far into Cleveland's issues with tackling and containment on defense (that's another long and disappointing story). However, these issues are a big part of the reason why the Browns are rated just 28th in overall defense by Pro Football Focus.

Except the paint is already fading on the fancy car because it has is not garaged...

Who would not think 4 turnovers and 11 penalties would not lead to a loss?

Of course that would lead to a loss but I think the point of the article was that we have had enough talent to compete in these games we lost but we lost because of self destruction as much as anything else:
"The loss marked only the second time the Browns haven't trailed by one score or less at some point in the fourth quarter. Two of Cleveland's games have gone into overtime (one win, one loss), and against St. Louis, the Browns were down just four points shortly after halftime.
This is a pattern of play that seems indicative of a team that is close to contention but is not quite there. In other words, the Browns resemble a talented team that just cannot seem to do the little things right. When the little things are killing your team, you're often looking at a coaching issue."
