Correct. He helicopters into the defensive line gets a concussion and fumbles the ball! That takes guts!

    We need a hero.

Sadly, I am now among those who don't think it will be Johnny.

But I'll root for his ass if he gets in there.

It is the effort I saw out of McCown that I applaud him for. I would like to see that effort from more of the team. I don't think anyone had any illusions McCown was Tom Brady but he has came here and gave 100 percent effort. The big letdown for me is the defense which O'Neil confidently stated going into this season we would stop the run. (Wrong). Next would be our over rated offensive line. We have too many underperformers on the team, McCown is not one of them. I never expected to rely on him to win games for us, I believed coming into the season our defense was going to win games.

At this point at 2-5 I would play Manziel because it is time to know if he is the future QB or not. I don't think he is but as a Browns fan I would love to be proved wrong.

i agree with everything except playing manziel. mccown has more heart than joe thomas and joe haden at this point in my eyes. he's a gamer and not at all the reason we are losing games.

this team looks soft and plays soft. and either it's a lack of talent from players or lack of talent from coaches.

but firing everyone doesn't solve the problem. what does solve the problem is start finding ways to take away money from some of these people. then let's see what happens.

  • Face it boys depending on which guy you love and which guy you don't love every fucking thing he does will be heroic or stupid. Anybody remember the McCown haters bitching about what a moron he was for doing that?

And let me bore you once more and repeat that as long as the coach allows the offensive line and defensive line and the defensive backs and the running backs perform as poorly as they are it won't matter if its a 23 year old Joe Namath or me playing quarterback.

(it's a lot like politics, we pick the guys we like and then think of reasons we don't like the other guys)

Mark- boatloads of Browns fans have given up on this version of the team. If they can make money on Fan Duel betting against the Browns, I applaud them. I don't do Fantasy, but my pal says participants have dropped the Browns defense (which was supposed to be good) like a lead balloon.

McCown may have more heart- but like the Tin Man, he has no brain. Said it elsewhere- to succeed, Josh needs a running game and great pass blocking- to date, he's gotten neither. #2 in sacks taken. Not all his fault- if the smurfs can't get open. Of course Farmer thinks drafting guys like Mayle instead of Odell Beckam is the ticket to a winning record.

    Insight into the conservative mind?

More than a few McCown boosters questioned the wisdom of the dive that turned helicopter, Steve...

  • he's not the first qb to get helicoptered on a goal line dive. elway and young if i remember correctly.....

difference is they held onto the ball BUT they also didn't get hit helmet to helmet in a blatant flagrant foul that wasn't called either.

BEREA, Ohio -- Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel met with NFL investigators Wednesday evening at the Browns facility regarding his Oct. 12 domestic incident, league sources told cleveland.com.

Manziel met with NFL senior advisor Lisa Friel and was represented by NFLPA attorney Heather McPhee. The meeting began at about 5:30 p.m.

Friel was one of four women appointed by NFL Commisioner Roger Goodell last year to help shape the league's policies on domestic violence and sexual assault.

For more than a decade, Friel was head of the Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit in the New York County District Attorney's Office. There, she investigated and prosecuted cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and other similar crimes.

She now investigates the league's off-the-field incidents, and is uniquely qualified to determine if Manziel physically harmed his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, who initially told Avon police that he did, before taking it back and saying that Manziel didn't hurt her.

McPhee, who represents NFL players in personal conduct violations, was responsible for Ray Rice winning his appeal against the NFL and having his indefinite suspension overturned. Rice, whom the Browns discussed signing this summer, struck his then-fiancee in an elevator and then dragged her out unconscious. Goodell originally suspended Rice for two games, and later banned him indefinitely.

McPhee helped Rice, the former Raven, win the appeal in arbitration and he was immediately re-instated last November. He has yet to sign with another team however. She also represented Tom Brady in his Deflate-Gate appeal.

The NFL came to town last week to talk to the Avon police, and spent the morning interviewing the officers who questioned and released Manziel and Crowley that day. Manziel was not arrested or charged, and the police suspended the investigation without turning it over to the prosecutor for review. Sgt. George Ruple told cleveland.com that the case is closed regardless of what the NFL decides to do.

The Browns turned the matter over to the NFL and are following its lead on the matter. The NFL can fine or suspend Manziel under its personal conduct policy.

It is not yet known if Manziel, who spent 10 weeks in an addiction treatment center in the offseason, is in the league's substance abuse program. If he is, he could be fined or suspended under that policy if he's required to abstain from alcohol. But an NFL spokesman told cleveland.com that the review is for a "possible violation of the personal conduct policy.''

The incident took place around 6 p.m. on I-90 near Avon, where Manziel lives. According to a witness, Manziel was speeding down the berm at about 90 mph and crossing lanes erratically to exit at Nagel Road in Avon. Police detected the slight odor of alcohol on Manziel's breath, and he admitted to having two drinks earlier in the afternoon. Another witness said he saw Manziel's arm and elbow around Crowley's neck, trying to keep her from exiting the moving vehicle.

Crowley also told police that Manziel pushed her head against the glass of the car and hit her a couple of times. One of the witnesses told police that Crowley told her that Manziel was beating her. On the DashCam footage released by Avon police, Crowley stated that she was "in fear for her life.''

Crowley was later asked if she was fearful of Manziel's actions or if she thought he was cause her physical harm and she said "no he was fine.''

Manziel emphatically denied to police that he had struck or punched Crowley or pulled her hair. Crowley had an abrasion on her wrist but police determined that was from Manziel grabbing it try to keep Crowley in the car.

Ultimately, police did not charge Manziel because of the inconsistencies in Crowley's story, their relationship status, the lack of physical evidence and the fact that Crowley did not wish to pursue charges.

On Friday Oct. 16, Crowley posted a statement on her Instagram account that "we're all good'' which has since been deleted, but the account still contains numerous pictures of her and Manziel together.

The Browns had the option of making Manziel inactive for the Broncos game six days after the incident, but kept him as the backup quarterback to Josh McCown instead.

The Browns are awaiting the NFL's decision, but it's not likely to come before the Browns face the Cardinals Sunday at 1 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium. Manziel took the first-team reps on Wednesday while McCown rested his sore shoulder and ribs.

McCown expects to play Sunday, a source told cleveland.com, but he's currently day-to-day. He said he'd try to throw some on Wednesday and see if he was okay to practice at least on a limited basis on Sunday.

If all goes as planned, McCown will start the game and Manziel will be the backup while he waits for the league to wrap up its investigation.

  • I strongly doubt anything comes of it, I'm sure McCown's status will be solidified today - McCown is a warrior though he could probably lose an arm and keep playing.

  • I know the guy is a hot topic for obvious reason. I also always try to hear the voice of the domestic violence victims in cases like this. With that being said, this woman is an absolute fraud. If she got her head slammed against a window, there's no way that wouldn't leave a mark. She got mad, lied to get back at him for it, then realizing the gravy train would stop told the truth.

Is Manziel a saint in this this? Absolutely not, and the few drinks is of concern no doubt. But it just saddens me when any person male or female exaggerates or flat out lies about this stuff. It takes away from the serious domestic incidents that occur sadly every day and reinforces bad stereotypes.

Hey Johnny- Kruger has it right- ditch this chick before you get in more trouble. I'm thinking he might get a fine- but no suspension. If they suspend him, it's not going to be for more than a couple games. This wasn't a Ray Rice haymaker, or a Hardy "I'm gonna kill you" situation.

  • How in the hell does no one know still if JM is or is not in this so called substance abuse program? When the NFL stumbles across the lost Ray Rice video hope they find this mystery list.. Put Crowley on your list JM than move on..

I agree with that. How shitty does the reporting have to be for no one to know anything at all?

This is the NFL, not the NSA!

  • Just glad to hear John is getting his life back in order..again

  • You guys don't have to believe this, as I can't prove it, but I have no reason to lie. But I figured it tell you guys if you didn't know, because we're all die hard Browns fans.

I know a guy who lives with his girlfriend at Red Tail, the golfing community that Manziel lives at. Everyone remember when Manziel all of a sudden had the elbow tendinitis that supposedly has been bothering him since HS? There's a reason why it never showed up on anyone's radar during the draft process.. because it's a lie.

Early in training camp he was drunk and was riding around on one of those little Razor scooters for kids. He fell and slammed his elbow on the concrete, and has been slowly recovering since then. Everyone at Red Tail knows this, even the old ladies who don't even care about the Browns.

Also, the real reason Manziel went to rehab was for nose candy. Sure alcohol was a part of it, but it was mostly for the blow. I just don't get why Gronk parties with coke too, but no one cares..

Anyways, just figured I'd let you guys in on that. Believe me if you want, or don't believe me.

  • I know a guy who knows 3 guys who know the drug dealer who knows the drug lord who is friends with the drug kingpin that supplies Johnny with his coke, and he confirms what you're saying.
