A man like Carson would sue you "instantly" if he thought you were attaching his likeness to your product without his consent. So it's possible he never gave legal permission so he has this way out later, but he still knew they were using him to hawk their product. Saying anything to the contrary on his part, when he wsa so closely involved with them....is absurd.

Disagree Cleve. If it comes out later he did agree to allow them to use his image he will have a huge problem and I don't think he lied about that. I agree however if he is doing paid speeches it is at the minimum an indirect endorsement.

Mannatech will probably say sorry and that's it, forget about it. The image is still irrelevant in comparison to all of the other things he's done for them and statements he has made. As a well respected surgeon, endorsing a product that claims to be an alternative cure to cancer is a VERY dangerous thing - because your opinion is by far and away way more credible than you know, somebody who isn't a famous neurosurgeon.
Mannatech is just another borderline pyramid scheme MLM fraud that got into hot water for saying their product cured cancer.

She did but I thought it was too late at that point. She should have been ready to confront Trump at the time he denied it. She missed the moment by not being prepared and then making an unnecessary apology.

Yes, but she should have had the source in front of her when she asked the question - not come back to it later on.
I actually agreed with the stance on H1B's that was on his website mostly, but maybe because many of them are in my type of field and drive down labor costs and take money they make out of the economy to wherever they come from. Limiting the amount of H1B's is probably a good thing but now nobody knows where Trump stands on it.

1.) He did earn money from paid speeches - that part was correct
2.) He appeared in that 2013 commercial which was AFTER the $7M texas law suit, endorsing Mannatech
3.) It was sort of funny to see him give it an endorsement after saying he had "no involvement"
4.) In 2004 he said after taking it, his Prostate cancer symptoms went away and he considered treating the cancer with supplements only, instead of surgery
5.) Until earlier this year he was in several pictures and videos on the manntech website - now removed (A la his campaign realized this isn't a good affiliation to have)

The product is highly controversial, because the company made claims prior to a 2009 settlement in Texas that it cured Autism and Cancer (Dr. Carson said himself in 2004 he considered using it as his personal cancer treatment, no surgery). Despite that, he continued to show up in promotional videos and endorse the product until he started his presidential campaign.

Dr. Carson is endorsing a specific product that has made claims to cure Autism and Cancer (it doesn't). More of a Dr. Oz type of move, really.
The controversy is with the specific product. The company has other issues (like being a pyramid scheme) that Carson is not being questioned about.

Cal your analogy's are wholesale inaccurate. Selling a car to a rapist doesn't endorse his raping. Taking a product, making speeches for the product telling people how awesome it is....is endorsing the product. Nobody was questioning Carson, like Edward pointed out, about the companies shady business dealings. That he is indemnified from, what he is being questioned about is his endorsement of what amounts to snake oil without, apparently, any verifiable scientific/medical validity to it.
If people want to take some homeopathic remedies i'm all for it, I know people who benefitted from them. Maybe their physiologies are different. For a famous neurosurgeon though to lend the product his explicit approval through speeches he gave on behalf of the company....implies that the product has some sort of medical standing. There's nothing "emotional" or "knee jerky" about questioning the ethics of that.
If Carson took the product and told people that it worked for him but told people this product was in no way shape or form vetted by medical research....than fine.
