I still think it’s too early to judge Farmer, the fact our pro bowlers aren’t playing well leads me to think the coaching is currently a bigger issue than the roster. I will judge him and the rookies after two more years, so for now, I think we should to keep him.
Pettine is too stubborn to change the defensive scheme and as pointed out by Mud in his great post, the players don’t know whether they are coming or going this year. I think him and O’Neil need to go but I’m not convinced they will. Jimmy knows how he was viewed by the league after sacking Shurmur and Chud back to back and that’s going to make any decision to fire Pett a lot harder.
We need to draft a RB that doesn’t fall over or go down as soon as he’s tackled and a WR that can be a threat in the red zone. I’d like a linebacker that isn’t slow to the ball as well.

What do you think will be the case, and what would you do?----Either FARMER has to get a TALL franchise receiver and a big back like Henry or Elliott or he needs to buy a farm and stay on it. The D is fixable with a real D/C plus an added FA or 3. Pet has to let the new D/C handle his own players the way he sees fit. Actually that applies to the whole team. No more doghouse unless the coordinators make that decision with HC input only. I'm not certain about Bosa. LB is where the problem seems to be, but who knows with this screwed up "system" that has taken players out of their strengths. The draft decisions can wait depending upon whether we play ourselves out of #1 overall. With this D, Manziel & Co. would have to put on a real magic show and realistically we can expect growing pains as he gets more PT. All new starting QB's have them, IF they are allowed to have mistakes. That's a big if with Pettine.

I think it's difficult to sell anyone on keeping everyone here. In fact, the ONLY reason I can think of is simply to avoid "blowing things up" again. I mean, think about it. What has Pettine displayed as a head coach that fans like?
Solid game management? NOPE
Halftime adjustments? NOPE
Developing young talent? NOPE
Competent defensive scheme? NOPE
Stopping the run? NOPE
Pressure on QB's? NOPE
We could go on, but what's the point? Farmer would probably get a similar grade, right? He hasn't missed on everything, but is that blind luck, or skill? How many first round picks do you get before you land one? I don't think it's fair to completely grade Shelton or Erving at this point, but it's safe to say they aren't exactly blowing the doors off. Farmer's standpoint on the value of stud wr's is one of the things that will ultimately cost him his job.
But again, the only solid reason I can think of to keep the coaching staff and Farmer is simply to avoid starting over. Is that a good enough reason to keep the same people that are driving this team in the wrong direction? I honestly don't know. I believe it's safe to say that we as fans can't STAND starting everything over, but this is painful. NFL games have a tendency to be close, and we're getting our asses whipped.

Yes. If Manziel does become our QB, and Gilbert gets out of Pettine's "doghouse" then Farmer's drafts look much better.

No. He can call a good game on D, and he can motivate one side of the ball. He can't manage personnel or an entire game for 4 quarters. He also can't recognize when talent should overcome hard-work on game days.

Hell No. He has proven he is terrible.
Flip will be OC
Hard to say. A new HC will want his people and his system. If we get another unproven D-minded HC, then I could see Flip saying. Also, if we get a re-tread coach who is a WCO type of guy I could see him staying. But, if Farmer and Haslam try to reel in a quality HC, they can't dictate who the coordinators will be.

Yes. I say that now, but I hope to see more of him in the final few games. If he continues to play at the level he is at, he will be our starter. If he improves, he will be our starter. If he regresses, then I'm not sure.

They probably should. Watching this year, these little guys can't be effective in the red zone and they can't help but getting concussed.

No. Manziel / McCown / Davis. All still under contract next year. If we had the QB play we've had this year, last year, we might've made the playoffs
Alex Mack will be a Brown. Yes. No way he opts out of his contract after his disappointing season. We're stuck with him.
Mitchell Schwartz will be a Brown. Yes. He's arguably the best RT in the game. Pay the man.
Tashaun Gipson will be a Brown. No. Upset about contract situation last year and bails. He hasn't gotten healthy enough this year to make plays.
Gary Barnidge will be a Brown. No. He will ride this season into a huge contract that he doesn't deserve. His blocking is awful.
Travis Benjamin will be a Brown. Absolutely. Our best offensive weapon. We have to keep our own.
Dwayne Bowe will be a Brown. Yes. He's under contract and our new HC will see some use for him.
Justin Gilbert will be a Brown. Yes. He's too athletic not to be. Our new HC and DC will pull out the best of him.
