  • I hate this. The sad part is that Johnny is ready to start, and it will be devastating to him if he doesn't... And yet, he couldn't seem to help himself.

Part of me wants to say this is no big deal. And for almost everyone, it would be no big deal. "22-year-old has fun with friends"... No big deal.

And yet, he said things would be different. - no distractions. And here we are again...distracted.

So where to go from here.... Start Johnny, see how he performs. If he does well, tell reporters you're not johnny's babysitter. If he's doing his job well, and not breaking the law, then let it go. He is allowed to have a life, and he can legally drink, even though he went to rehab.

Now, if he has broken some agreement made with the Browns, that changes things. Other than that, let him play. He has just started to show the potential he has, see where it leads.

Manziel should have known- if he went out- he was paparazzi fodder. That's on him. Did Pettine specifically tell him "don't go party"?

One thing is for sure- the general public may never know why Manziel went to rehab- but you can bet the ranch the Browns for damn certain do.

Let me ask this honestly of you and others. What harm does a picture or small video of Manziel in a club doing karaoke do to the Browns or this team? The Browns are quite literally the laughing stock of the NFL. I could not care the absolute fuck less what guys do in their free time save illegal activities if they actually provide quality play on the field. The thing hurting the Browns isn't some picture of a guy with a beer in this hand, it's decades of terrible football play.

Pettine is acting like his father when he's the coach. He could have easily said "We understand Manziel was in certain places but we don't regulate players during their free time. He's been here when he's expected to be here and has been improving on the field". Instead, he just acts like an upset dad who found weed in the sock drawer and is threatening to not take him to Disney World. Fuck that man, sorry but I'm tired of overreaction of seeing Manziel in public WAY more than the fact he's living his life.

It goes back to what I said in the previous post. The Browns know what Johnny went to rehab for. When he got out, don't you think there were (private) stipulations laid out by the team as to what he could or couldn't do?

If it was for booze- (OK, don't believe his HS coach or dad that JFF has\had a drinking problem) if Pettine & Co. believe he's relapsing, they have every right to sit him.

Plus, we don't know and may never know if the Browns sent him to rehab (HIPPA laws). If the Browns sent him and picked up the cost of it, it's a serious breach of trust.

Whether you like him or not, the pick was a gamble. The Browns cannot afford to gamble on players who "might" get their act together. JF & Josh Gordon could really help turn things around, IF they want to.

  • As far as Johhny goes, all I will say is this....."We'll see!".

One thing you can take to the bank is that more than one man's future will change in the coming months due to all this drama & speculation.

they still don't know if this is old footage, but if it is not, fuck this team, fuck this organization. They deserve what they got. They drafted him...so lets hope its just some old bullshit before he entered rehab. we shall see...

  • Johnny be gone..number 3 now behind Austin Davis

just saw it on espn now...breaking news...mccown to start which must mean the footage is not old footage...I fucking new it, I fucking said it when he got pulled over with his girlfriend, the guy is still drinking....there you have it...

  • This whole organization is the absolute joke of the NFL, holy God. I can't wait to hit the reset button with the whole lot of circus clowns running it.

  • lmao, Manziel will be No. 3 behind McCown and Davis Monday night, what a riot lol, the Manziel saga never fails to entertain. Tune in next week for the latest exciting developments.

  • Johnny needed to stay in Cleveland and focus on his game during the bye.

Ya, everybody is allowed to drink, and travel, and see old friends. And all the young unmarried players are going to do it.

But this guy was just handed the keys to the franchise. The season is over in two months. Just fucking commit yourself to the Cleveland Browns for two months, then you go party your ass off with your buds.

    He couldn't do it.

you don't even know what the fuck you are talking about...this guy just got out of rehab. HE IS AN ALCOHOLIC, HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH A DRINK FOR THE REST OF HIS FUCKING LIFE..THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS WAITING 2 MONTHS AND GO PARTY YOUR ASS OFF...JESUS H CHRIST..I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS POST..

  • Wow!! Just wow facepalm.gif

    I'm with jrb

  • Absolute ignorance and stupidity by the Browns. Let him do what he wants, as long as he plays well. This organization has no clue what they're doing. He's 3rd string QB now? Does performance matter or just your social life? Embarrassing move by Pet, Haslam, Farmer, fucking morons

  • Jesus, who the fuck cares what the kid does as long as he wins football games.

Put him out there and see what he has.... Last time i checked Joe Namath got drunk and fucked lots of bitches and he never got demoted to third string because of it.

I'm not a Johnny lover but Pettine seems to hate him and be looking for any excuse to sit him.

Look, Johnny did look like an annoying moron in that karaoke video, but if we sit him the rest of the season his value is nothing and it's another wasted pick, and we won't even know if he's any good.

    christ.

and FUCK that bitch O'Neill.... fire him. I watched the presser and he doesn't know what the fuck he's doing.

Fuck the bullshit excuses, fuck playing dwarves at WR, and fucking playing favorites and sitting Gilbert or making him 8th string and deactivating him.

This isn't high school, it's the real deal. And us fans are sick of the drama and bullshit.

Pettine should of said, whatever, he was also volunteering giving food and it was his weekend off. What the fuck did you do this weekend? to the reporter.

I'm by no means a Johnny fan but christ.

We're not going to move forward by this.....

  • Josh the starter "going forward". As reported, Johnny #3 this week.

Here are the statements from #Browns coach Mike Pettine on the benching of Johnny Manziel, the new No. 3 QB
  • And how the heck do you guys all know he didn't go to rehap for coke and that it was alcohol?

How do you know what he was allowed to do? He wasn't disciplined when he admitted to having drinks after the fight with his girl.

The problem here is his lack of commitment to the Cleveland Browns. He keeps saying it ... he doesn't show it.

  • Im still behind the coach on this

and as far as JF - ship em....

  • Fact. Check the other thread.

Here are the statements from #Browns coach Mike Pettine on the benching of Johnny Manziel, the new No. 3 QB
  • "but Pettine seems to hate him and be looking for any excuse to sit him" I think this too. I think the owners kind of pressured Pettine into naming Manziel the starter the rest of the season, because they drafted him and wanted to see what they have. But Pettine is on the hot seat and had an itchy trigger finger and was just waiting for any excuse to bench Manziel. Srsly, he didn't just bench him either, third string.
