I liked Trump more when he was preaching non-interventionist stuff and talking about health care for all, good trade deals, etc. - but now he has just gone off the handle, seems like he doesn't want to be president.
The worst thing is how many people agree with him, though. The US Constitution only applies selectively, according to many: I like my guns, freedom, liberty, right to fair trial, free speech, religion - unless yer a dam brown muslim boi, then stay out my country'

honestly though he might have a point for the near term. I've stated here i'm in favor of a full military blockade of the middle east till this somehow gets resolved. At this point I have to believe they are purposefully trying to fuck up the middle east so millions of normal people want out sprinkled with a few thousand bad ones that will be "very" difficult to weed out. Putting a hiatus on immigration from there might not be the worst idea. Of course it has to be framed differently as not a "war on islam" otherwise we're doing Isis recruiting work for them.

If he had worded it as "we won't accept refugees from high risk countries" that would have played much better. You can't refuse immigrants based on their religion if potential terrorist attacks are your gripe. ISIS would just tell all their members to claim that they are Christians and go back to business as usual.

I'd be just as happy to be isolationists. Stop all immigration, period. Wall up both borders and put out foriegn military presence on the walls and call it a day. Fix our own problems first. Unfortunately that's not going to happen so the least we could do is stop immigration from countries where an avowed goal of a significant percentage of the population is the utter destruction of our way of life.

you're back to trying to figure out how to vet middle eastern
refugees from there, too.
You have to find out where they originated from.
But we have to stop it now, slow it way the hell down... until we can stop terrorists
from ever getting in... it will take time.

I agree but you would have to couple that with a significant withdrawal of our military from their lands. And frankly other lands too. We have to many soldiers stationed too many damn places. And invariably they piss people off for one reason or another. I would leave soldiers in Korea and that's about it.

Does that mean no tourism as well? No foreign imports of goods? Declared immigration is not the only way to enter a country.

There are things you need to import from abroad though, not just cars and electronics. Raw materials, for example.
You'd also essentially bankrupt every international airline.

Agree on the part that Trump saying "all muslims" is bad wording, but he had ample chance to correct himself or revise the statement and didn't.
Secondly I think most people don't understand how the economy works.
Our economy has started/mostly "evolved" from the old days of manufacturing goods, etc. We're at the point where people have higher wages, more skill positions, more service positions, etc.
Aside from that, I see all these people screaming for "bring our manufacturing jobs back" "stop importing foreign goods"
It's not that easy. People have higher standards of living here, demand higher wages. If we manufactured most goods here - then prices would balloon, consumption would go way down. We wouldn't be able to compete internationally (who would want to import a 100%-US made Ford, when it'd cost them 2x as much as what they are making elsewhere).
We have plenty of issues, but they aren't quite as simple as isolating ourselves from the rest of the world - basically 10% of the population owns the 90%, pretty big problem that the simple isolationist bring back manufacturing approach would magnify ten-fold.

Hey, maybe we could work to drive up wages for some of the skill positions, service positions, etc that our economy has become driven by in this 21st century? Stop paying CEOs 5000% more than the average worker?

The economy is already in dire need of a full overhaul. But as I think I said in my original statement that isolationism is impossible and isn't going to happen
