While I do think you're being to harsh on him Z, I agree he played like shit. I think Paxton will be too much a project player, and would have to wait behind Mccown for a year or two.
I like Connor Cook despite all of the bad talk about him. I think he's the most NFL ready QB coming out of the draft.

I honestly don't know where all the support for this asshole comes from when the same people were in such a hurry to move on from colt McCoy and Brian Hoyer. In a game where the defense played well, there was a decent running game, and the line was giving the kid all they had. Seriously at times he had 5-6 seconds with a clean pocket on a 4 man rush and he had no vision and missed wide open checkdowns.
And it's not like we have to frantically sign a new rookie from the draft. If they willing to make a project outta a first round flop then atleast make a project outta a kid that fits the bill with height, arm strength, and proper footwork. I have absolutely no problem rolling into next year with depth chart of McCown, Austin, and Shaw. Build the team in other areas and then sell out and draft a qb when you have a team worthy of evaluating talents.
Its no secret I hated the pick and I have been proven correctly for the last 2 years. He basically threw away his rookie season. I wasn't thrilled about the pick, and I haven't been thrilled by his last two performances. But the "this guy sucks, let's get this this guy instead" mindset has literally NEVER worked for us.
I was proud of what I saw from Manziel in glimpses. He had the flu, we were missing multiple receivers and our two starting guards...and Manziel said nothing about any of that in his post game presser.
It was a bad performance, but it's not the end of the world.

He has had the same tryout as weeden and weeden was better in his 2 years. So im on board for next qb up. I'm liking lynch currently but need to watch goff and I've seen cook enough to know his arm is LASER ACCURATE sometimes and catfish on the deck other times.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that we need receivers who can get open? Or come back for the ball and help their quarterback out. They don't have any talented offensive weapons! Benjamin cannot be their only playmaker! We don't have a legitimate number 1 and it shows. If we had a running game, Johnny wouldn't be running for his life. Defenses have no respect for our Oline and run game. We need an over haul on offense.
