Roll with the guy you thought might have it and see what happens in a full season. Today was not his best day for sure, but we were still in it at the end against a team trying to get in the playoffs.

I'm not sure it's really whether he "might" have it. I think his mechanics suck and seem to be getting worse and i don't know for sure if they will ever get better. His intangibles are unquestioned but his accuracy is atrocious.

And Aaron Rogers got creamed today as well and was nowhere near being in it at the end. Should they can him?

Aaron Rogers has a super bowl ring and multiple playoff wins. Seriously comparing Rogers to Manziel? C'mon...I know you're a fan of his but be real here. His mechanics are dreadful.

They won a SB before Flacco was there

True, 8 years prior to drafting Flacco.

The Stoolers were 9 years removed from a SB before drafting the Rapist.

  • And we are 50 years removed...

    That's 2. Any others?

Joe flacco, Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Andy Dalton

  • I hope they keep all three quarterbacks and draft WIDE RECEIVERS. Manziel had no one to throw to today or any day for that matter. When Benjamin can't get open the play is a bust or he runs with it. And they must commit to the run game in the off season. No team makes it very far without the running game. They need to draft receivers, running backs, weapons period.

Teams, who have a dominant running game win. It's a simple formula. I don't know why we haven't been able to get it goingbut look at all the running backs we've dumped in the last couple years! Ben Tate, Dion Lewis, Terence West, Shaun Draghn, Bobby Rainey,

Why can't they draft some big play makers. Sheesh!

QB as the last piece is the hardest path to follow.

IF there is a Rnd 1 worthy prospect in this year's draft, I say take him.

If not, then take a later prospect.

Either way, you have to keep looking for your next QB... especially when he is not on your roster. And I do not think he is...

For me this could be settled by waiting another year and I have two reasons to do so. First I just do not see a great one coming out this year that makes me think, "Clear #1 QB". And second by delaying a year we get to at least watch an entertaining QB prove one way or another through a whole season whether he really is the right guy or not. Either way get the QB some weapons (Bowe in at the end? Really?) this coming draft. Then find the right guy if he isn't on the roster already. And forget McCown as the starter. Roll with the guy you thought might have it and see what happens in a full season. Today was not his best day for sure, but we were still in it at the end against a team trying to get in the playoffs.

We need weapons! By now opponents are wise to Benjamin and Barnidge. Without a sound running game the offense is one of the worst in the league. Teams know not to defend the run and come after the quarterback on every play! Farmer better draft offensive weapons. If he doesn't there's no reason to believe they'll get any better.

How many teams have been built without a good Qb,and then plugged in a good Qb and won?

Kurt Warner and the Rams come to mind, but that's about it.

Most good teams have good Qb's

    Ummm... most of them.

They built defenses, first, starting with D-line and LBs.

Then offenses with good running games, starting with O-line.

Then they added the play makers - QB and WR.

Virtually NO one drafted a QB - with nothing else on their team - and played him as a rookie and won anything.

And let's not forget our very own Browns team in the '80s/'90s under Shottenheimer... QB was the last piece...

There is NOTHING WRONG with drafting an OL in the first round. Paul Brown was against it and only drafted one... Munoz.

    ..

The very first first round Bengal drafted by Paul Brown was Center, Bob Johnson.

In reality, the 2000 Ravens were only a decent QB from becoming the powerhouse they became. And, for that half season at least, Trent Dilfer played the position very well....even if the rest of his career was below par.

The Rats had a guy that couldn't score a TD in like 4 consecutive games without scoring a TD, they lost 3 of their games....then they put Dilfer in and won every single one of the rest of their games.

  • VesnaKociper said:

Kurt Burris.............. yeah, he played in Canda, not Cleveland. He also played as a linebacker.

Paul Brown drafted him to be an offensive lineman primarily. He may have also played LB as a lot of guy back in those days went both ways. (FYI....did you know that Otto Graham put in a lot of playing time at defensive back for the Browns?)

But....yes....fact is, Burris was an OL that PB drafted that busted. Can't get away from that.

  • VesnaKociper said:

They won with Dilfer.............. in spite of him, not because of him.

Actually...it may have been because of him.....he replaced Tony Banks and went from a 5-4 record to not losing another game, as I said:

May not be a clear #1 in the draft... doesn't matter. What's clear is that JM cannot beat out McC for the Browns starting job.

And there is nothing entertaining about watching a frantic QB while we lose.
