But denial is a wonderful thing Z. It's really hard to jump off the bandwagon even when all signs say there's maybe one wheel left on it. And that's just about where it is.

I just figure that we might possibly have a good quarterback in the house. I also figure that we've shitcanned enough of them in a very short period of time and that has been the main factor and making us the worst organization in professional football. Also that a lot of these fans are fickle little bitches.
And like I said before it doesn't matter much because I think Johnny's pissed off enough people that I'd be surprised to see him back here.
And again in a couple years windows saying bitches are gathered in front of the stadium with torches and pitchforks calling for the head of the quarterback and coach I will still probably be preaching continuity.

Well Z, you have no idea how many times I've been in that situation in the band days. Not only in the role of the lead singer who used to drink way too much to the band leader where I had to put up with talented guys who sometimes piss me off.
I had a great guitar player whose style and mine didn't work very well and we had a hostile relationship. In time we set our egos aside long enough that I could appreciate what he added and he could appreciate what I've written.
I had another guitar player, again really good but kind of it hot dog. Rather than make him shut it down I realized that the crowd kind of liked it when he'd go nuts.
I had a world-class trumpet player who was a falling down drunk. We wouldn't have parted ways but for the fact that he was unable to play by the end of the show.
I've had guys that showed up late, drunk, stoned, I'm prepared or not at all for rehearsal.
As long as they showed progress on Saturday night I bit the bullet. So I'd lean toward keeping the talented guy and trying to work it out firing him and giving the solos to somebody not nearly as good.
Anyway not that any of that is exactly to the point and I'll read the first three quarters of your post and respond soon enough but one point from the top:
Since we have no idea which rumors are true and which are bullshit let's say he showed up Wednesday before the game drunk, or somebody in the room believed he was. They pretended it was a concussion and said he couldn't play.
So if it's me, & I feel I'm being persecuted in that way, then why the fuck not go to Vegas? And why not blow off the faux doctor's appointment.
(of course I have no way of knowing that any of that happened but still... We do love to believe rumors, just like total fucking bullshit.

$10 says Ag aimed that at himself and you've gotten way too sensitive over Johnny...
Ag,
Back me up and I'll cut you in for half...

He's a playmaker and makes things happen on the field. Did you watch the games? The announcers the whole time can't stop raving about what he does out there. And we're typically listening to the same announcers that diss us all game. But Wow, did you see manziel do this? Oh, look at that, he's magic~ ect. ect.
Yeah, best QB we've had but he sucks cause you can't handle social media...

You do realize those same announcers are paid to sensationalize things, correct? Half of their analysis is usually rather wrong.
Next year when he's on another roster then looks like shit with another team, I'll be here to remind our Johnny friends that him being a 'playmaker' goes far beyond running around like an idiot.

Johnny is a backup at best even when sober. He couldn't beat out Hoyer or McCown.
-
"my name is Aggie Rubenstein, and i'm addicted to manziel..."
"Hi Aggie..."

Look I lobbied for manziel to be given the full season to prove himself win or lose without being pulled for nobodies like mccown or austin davis but the kid is a huge fuckup and has to go. He might end up being decent but he'll never be good enough to put up with his shit.
-
how good would he have to be to put up with it?
not even with 5 layers of saran wrap completely covering over your mouth? wait, never mind. i did it again...wrong website.

And the Houston Texans playoff game is a good example of what happens when you start a lesser player because of a personal problem.

Hoyer beat him out in camp and only lost his job after playing so terribly that they were willing to give anyone a whirl. Johnny stepped in without a knowledge of the playbook and having shat away a whole season.
-
Manziel beat out Hoyer???....WTF are you talking about???Manziel came in after we already had 7 wins, which Hoyer was resonsible for. Hoyer played excellent last season, until JF got in his head. Hoyer can't handle any type of pressure. He showed that when he was here and in Houston. Manziel?...I haven't seen him do anything that would resemble good qb play. You need to give it up....he sucks...he'll be somebody else's headache soon...if anyboby wants him.
-
Hoyer sucked so badly he was replaced by the rookie. That's what beating somebody out means.
I'm from around here, I wish Brian Hoyer didn't suck as bad as he does.
Just winning the games matters to you guys which quarterback won the most games for the Browns in 2015?

Steve, I gave that whole debate all the attention I thought it deserved... which is to say none at all primarily because it can have no impact on my opinion of JM and the best resolution of our JM problem.

Pretty much what lodobedobedo was saying... Hoyer first won then he lost the job.
The depths to which BH's performance had to sink for JM to become competitive speaks volumes.
-
Aren't you the guy that keeps repeating how so many first round draft picks don't start immediately? Which means they all got beat out by who was was starting when they came to camp?
And if so, so what?
And you don't have to answer the first question but it has as much or as little to do with what we are discussing as anything else.
(and I understand that there is almost nothing that would impact your opinions...

Hoyer was handed the starting job last year. He showed some promise and was the hometown kid everybody wanted to have a chance to be the guy. Manziel had NO SHOT at taking the starting spot in camp. Hence, QB controversy.
Then Pettine turns around and does the exact same thing with McCown. Don't get me wrong, McCown is a good guy and he helped Manziel a lot... as opposed to Hoyer whom only cared about himself.
