It is supposedly set to be the best year in foreverz for DT/DE/OLB type of players. If that's the case, you'd think we'd be safer to take one at #32 since the talent pool is so saturated.

I'm not a big fan of Kiper Jr, but I think it would be absolutely Retard for Dallas to trade their 1st and 2nd rounder for Goff.

Would you take that deal if they offer it to us?

    WSS

WTF would Hue focus on the Draft when he'll still have names to comb trough for staff?

That is a tough question, but if Goff is sitting there and I know they want him, then based upon what I have seen so far, I say no thanks and turn in the pick.

Probably not, depends on the perceived talent drop off of missing out on Goff/Bosa (assuming that's what would happen if we trade down to #4 as it sits today)

It'd have to be a higher price than that anyway

But conversely if you got wind that #1 was in play and Goff was the objective, then do you get in the bidding war?

Given what I suspect it would cost, I don't think so

Agree... hate chasing to begin with, but the cost just seems so much higher when you start adding in future picks... and even this year's 2nd rounder is a "future" pick.

  • If the Browns draft Goff, I'll be happy.

If Goff goes 1 and the Browns draft Bosa, I'll be happy.

Either way is the way to go. Don't waste valuable assets and be happy with getting a quality player regardless.

  • OK here's one, remember the rumours we were willing to offer the number 12 and 19 pick last year to trade with tk to grab Mariota?

What would peoples opinions be now had we done that, looking back with hindsight obviously! Let's face it, Shelton and cam have hardly light it up.

While many have Goff rating out talent wise as a 2d rounder.....because he is a QB.....and considered one of the 2-3 best......and because QBs are always overvalued......and because a number of teams need a QB.....I suspect that Goff will not last until round 2.....even if he should.

As of today, Gip- there's no way Goff is going to last until the second round. Every mock I've seen has the Browns taking Goff @ #2.

This guy will have as much influence on the draft is anybody on any of the teams probably.

    WSS

Those Cowboy fans are smokin' something if they think they can jump over Browns with just their first and second to take Goff First pick is worth 3,000. Cowboys first, second AND third is only 2590. Add in the qb premium. I've been saying for a couple weeks the 'Pokes will have to offer two firsts and a second to get the Titans interested. I agree with Ag- if we do get jumped, we just sit @ #2 and take Bosa. Tennessee needs a premier LT to keep Mariotta in one piece, and if they drop to #4 they might not get Tunsil- who after reading the bio, compares favorably to Joe Thomas.

Many of the Mock drafts (it's still too early) have four Quarterbacks going in the first round. Example: Goff/Cleve., Wenz/Dallas, Lynch/San Francisco and Connor Cook/ Rams

If this holds true than Cleveland had better take Goff.

Tony Grossing suggests the Browns do what the Redskins did in 2012 and take two QBs. Goff and Cardale Jones. I like going out and getting a free agent but doubt any good ones will be available.

Hue Jackson will be studying his options from now until draft day. After all, taking the wrong guy is a coach killer.

I think we all agree that the quarterback will be the Browns number 1 focus.

I hope Haslam realizes by now how stupid the Manziel pick was and NEVER interferes again!

    ^This.

No, the cowpokes trade with us and we take Wentz.

  • I'm not sure Bosa is even the best DE in the draft, much less the best overall prospect.

With that said, I firmly expect him to go #1 to Tennessee now.

Outside of a select few, the QB evaluation on this board has been godawful.

I'm not sure if there was a single soul on this board who was okay with Mariota or Winston, I believe the overwhelming majority thought them to be not worth the pick.

Yet both managed to have solid rookie years despite their franchises being in utter disarray around them, while our QB was off doing blow off some dudes rod.

(And before you bring up my backing of Manziel, go look at who I was high on pre-draft. Here's a hint...it wasn't Manziel. I didn't start backing him until he became our QB. Which reminds me - I owe miktoxic a sixer.)

  • Bosa doesn't want to be here so I want someone who does. Would Bosa resign with us after his rookie contract is up?

  • trade down--in the top ten and still pick Lynch,Goff,or Wentz.

Not a fan of this idea. I doubt Jackson, Sashi and the new scoutmaster general are equally excited about all three becoming elite QBs such that they would be happy with any of them. They probably favour one and should 'go get him' if possible. Of course if that guy's gone, you can look at moving down and picking up more picks.

  • Denver and Arizona were ppoised to take the next step. Peyton Manning was the product of a little bit of Indianapolis skullduggery who faked the severity an injury while the team sandbagged their way to a first round pick.

Carson Palmer was hampered by being a decent quarterback on a bad team and as usual took more blame that he deserved in Cincinnati. Arizona was on their way up being hampered by a bad quarterback.

The Cardinals were a winning team the season when he was hurt.

I don't think either of those situations applies to us. Also, Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer we're not the missing piece to the puzzle in Cleveland.

  • And back to that veteran with some gas in the tank. It doesn't work if the team sucks or there's not as much gas left as one might think. Example Joe Namath in Los Angeles. Replaced midseason by a mediocre Pat Haden. Cleveland Jake Delhomme.

I'm sick as hell of trading down. No thanks.

Unless you could get Brees or Rivers there's no one even interesting out there.

  • No matter who we take first I hope we take a chance on cardale jones later. Could be a huge payoff.

And the reason I hesitate to do that is the fact that the homers will go absolutely out of their minds if he doesn't start immediately and for a long period of time regardless of his performance.

I haven't got anything against the kid but he did lose the starting job on the team he took to the national championship in three spectacular outings.

And since we have glaring needs that have nothing to do with quarterback how can we spend two of our top three picks on that position?

    WSS

  • Because we don't have one and we need one. If our top pick busts (imagine that) there needs to be a backup plan. What huge defensive picks do the patriots have playing for them? What huge offensive picks?
