I meant he should be top tier at this point in his career had he been drafted on a good team and stayed there.

Just like I feel many of those other guys would fail to flourish on bad teams.

I've said that before, also, that someone like Andy Dalton - if he were on the browns, he would have been bounced in two years because he couldn't lift the team on his own. Maybe Joe Flacco the same. We've been bad at drafting QBs, for sure, I don't think anyone believe's Brandon Weeden would be leading the Bengals to the playoffs every year had he been drafted there, but we're also not great at having patience with a young QB. Like even Johnny six-starts.

Brandon Weeden was successful at least for the game he started with a playoff caliber team in Houston.

As much as the boys don't want to admit it they had more problems than just missing Tony Romo.

He didn't screw up, just about. Not sure you call that successful.

He also played against the Titans and Colts, two of the worst Ds around, talent-wise. And against Zach Mettenberger and whichever 40 year old was playing for Indy that week.

Lol, just adding to my previous comment. Apparently quoted just myself...

  • pettine fighting with who? farmer?

i mean he's the only FO person let go correct? everyone else is still there so how will it be any different for jackson?

don't get it. sounds to me like the problem starts at the top. haslam had no idea any of this was going on? and for dansby to come out now with this like it is some revelation is kinda weak in my opinion as well. so it's the suits against the grunts (coaches) and they hired a lot more suits.

jackson: "we could sure use a QB and MLB."

suits: "well statistics say that we pick RB in this situation."

    jackson: "AAAaaarrrgggh!"

doesn't bode well for the grunts.

I am sure Haslam was aware. It's why he had to make the changes. Once well in to the season, there was no real point in making a change then.

I am pretty sure it was all between Pettine and Farmer. Scheiner and Brown weren't acting in that type of role.

if they just flipped a coin in the draft room, could their drafting have been any worse?

Is that a three hundred sided coin, or have they narrowed it down to two candidates already?

Actually if you read the article you see that the locker room wasn't lost... poisoned, but not lost.

"Dansby said... '... it was in the atmosphere. It was suffocating. You kept fighting and fighting and fighting, but you know it's there.' "

A lost locker room doesn't keep fighting.

Not screwing up is a reasonable trait. Put a quarterback who doesn't screw up on a good team and you will have more success then a very good quarterback on a terrible team. That's all I'm saying.

Alex Smith vs Andrew Luck? They've been roughly similar the last few years (this year aside). But the chiefs get knocked out early in the playoffs and with luck you have a 'puncher's chance' of beating a good team. Like how they got to the AFC championship game last year.

Well at least the article has a hint of hope. If all the bad blood has been washed away any more cohesive attitude installed there really is nowhere to go but up.

I do wonder if coach Pet didn't play Dwayne Bowe because Ray Frmer forced him on the team.

If these guys were making personnel decisions based on spite that's a bad situation.

Eh, I think you're mincing words there a little bit. Poisoned, lost, whatever you wanna call it it was clear to me for a long time that Pettine didn't have the locker room under control. No matter how you slice it that's about the top of things a head coach has to be accountable for.

I think you may be on to something there. Any Ag majors know if there is a way to get chickens to flip coins?

I once planted a crop of chickens, but they all died. A&M asked me to send them a soil sample. 😆

well you could do a whole NCAA bracket. Pick 64 kids you think might be able to play in the NFL and coin toss em. If you wanted to add veracity you could do a best of 3 or even 5 flips. Eventually you get down to the final two, and boom there's your draft.

anyone would say that with new bosses coming in the room. totally PC IMO.

let's see how everyone feels in a year or two cuz god knows the majority of cleveland fans (and the owner it seems) has the patience of a piss ant.
