  • I heard Jason Cole from Bleacher Report on radio today say he expects the Browns to just cut JM some time between now and two weeks from now and was leaning more towards sooner rather than later. He says he has now become untradable to any team in the NFL and likely would not be picked up by anyone when cut. He was speaking on a Cowboys sports program out of Dallas and specifically mentioned that Jerry no longer has any part of the decision making so whether he liked him or not, the FO team would reject it.

There is no evidence that he flew to Vegas and back the same day within a couple hours span. Why would he? He get's a ticket at like 10am or so for expired tags and then he is photographed in a grocery store in Ohio later that same day... So he flew to vegas to play a round of black jack and wear a Halloween costume and have a drink then turns right around and flys back to Cleveland hours later...

It seems like a setup or a contrived bullshit story to stir the pot and sell headlines to me...

Um, there's plenty of stuff that isn't contrived PG. It's way past time to end the Johnny experiment. At the rate Johnny is going- he's going to be hanging out soon with Justin Blackmon knocking back Don Julio margaritas, and wondering why he got cut.

Z said it better than I could-

"Don't be such a Johnny Fag. He shit on the Browns and you are eating it like it is a frosted brownie."

    Som funny stuff there. 🙂

No way man. Stampeders were like 14-4 or something. QB Bo Vick Mitchell has a Grey Cup win a couple CFL records and is a "leader of men" . No thanks.
  • Any of you guys have an idea why, if in fact you are all absolutely correct, and he's too unreliable to play a professional sport and has no interest in the NFL, why he would want to play Canadian football?

You big time football experts and psychiatrist have an answer for that?

It does look to me as if he doesn't want to be in Cleveland or in the National Football League at all, but I have nothing to go on but bullshit and innuendo and a few stories that probably happened that I don't care about. I think that he likely has more talent than most or all of our quarterbacks over 15 years and I think it's a drag we can't, or won't try to harness that.

And for the second season he did learn your fucking playbook which unfortunately nobody else on the team, even our all pro players, were able to execute properly. And with all the little bullshit penalties why don't you tell me how seriously the rest of these guys took the game?

I don't think that's peculiar at all Z, especially in the light that some of you guys would have taken a flyer on Ray Rice and Michael Vick if you thought they'd improve the team.

And I don't think his list of sins are that bad.

I also don't expect him to be back here next season. That's probably his own fault but it will be for reasons that have nothing to do with making the Cleveland Browns a better team, which would be my goal. Fag or not.

  • I dont think anyone said "he has no interest in the NFL" ? A lot of people have given several reasons they feel he's unreliable.

Does his behavior make you think that he's into playing in the NFL? Do you think his agent might tap him on the shoulder and tell him hey you are pissing off everybody not just the Cleveland Browns?

If he's pissing everyone off and no team will take him, why do you blame the posters here for doing it? It appears the whole world thinks hes a fuckup, not just us.

    I haven't mentioned Canada.

Too unreliable for an NFL team to count on him to be a starting QB.

I do think he'll get another shot on another roster though. It'll be as a backup behind an established starter. His dad, agent, etc. will get him focussed again. The kid loves football. But whether he stays focussed enough for some team to rely on him to be their starter ... he's a long way from that right now.

I hope the best for him. But it ain't happening in Cleveland.

Some times you become a better team by getting rid of a distraction who does not buy into your team.

We've had two seasons of Johnny hovering over the shoulder of the starter all season, and both times he got a chance to start, we continued to lose, he got hurt, and he bailed on the team before the season was over.

I think repeating this formula makes the Browns worse. Keeping a quarterback who does not want to lead makes us worse.

Getting better means more reliable players and leaders at the QB position.

"You guys" wanting Vick and Rice is a pretty broad statement ... I didn't want them, and I can only think of one or two guys that thought Rice would help the team ... can't remember anyone wanting Vick. And I'm not sure what the fuck it has to do with Johnny. I don't dislike the kid, I don't think of him as some sort of criminal ... I want QBs that we can rely on. That put football first, that put the Cleveland Browns first. This guy is not about being a Cleveland Brown. That's fine for his life ... but he's gotta go.

  • First of all I never called you out for mentioning Canada in the first place. But you can scan all the threads and see how many have. I just thought that was a stupid remark.

Second the quote is 'some of you guys' would have been fine with Vick or Rice. If you werent one of them why take offense?

Also, & I quote, "repeating this cycle makes the Browns worse."

It most certainly does. But not the cycle you are talking about.

And if you think the kid loves football and his dad an agent could influence him then I guess Mike Pettine isn't a leader of men nor are you guessing Hue Jackson would be either.

  • IMHO Johnny, Vick, & Rice share the following....their mere presence on a roster will DIVIDE a Fanbase, Front Office/Coaching Staff, & TEAM. That's why I feel strongly that we should dispense of Johnny ASAP.

    It's called "addition by subtraction".

Good point Mike and one that Ive tried to make all along.......simply put....one only has to look at the massive division and rift created in the fan base to realize that the same thing is happening in the locker room/FO/coaching staff....

A year and a half ago I compared him to Marinovich and it has come true.....(sadly)....

In HS, his Dad and Coach worked to straighten him up......and failed....

In College, the coaching staff worked to straighten him up.....and failed....

In the Pro's, his staff AND our Coaches worked to straighten him up.....and failed.....

There is extensive tape of him promising....over and over and over again....that he would buckle down, clean up his act, stop embarrassing his team and fans....and he has failed to do that again and again....

He obviously does not care about the team....his team mates....his coaches.....the Cleveland Fans...or he would do the things that have been asked of him repeatedly......

Go read a Dallas or A&M forum today.....his home base fanatical fan base.....even they think he's a complete ass and nobody wants him....nobody.....

    Edit:....except WSS and Poe G....😉

Mike, losing football games divides the fanbase.

Win one game and the fickle bastards take you down off the cross and put you on a throne.

How did Ray Lewis affect the Baltimore fans?

Edit and to mud tried to straighten him out in college and failed? Before or after he won the national championship?

Because it presumes that we want to get rid of Johnny because we think he's a bad guy which makes us hypocrites.

You are trying to pull us into a moralistic argument instead of realizing we are just saying "Hey, this guy is no good to the Browns".

That's my opinion. He adds no value to the team going forward.

Also, & I quote, "repeating this cycle makes the Browns worse."

I'm saying we don't need to deal with this shit now. He's not dedicated to the Browns, let's move on.

He'll get another chance. He'll make a go at it. Hope it works out. And I don't think it is bad on us if it does.

We have to do what is best for the 2016 Browns, and going into this season with Manziel on the roster is not best for us.

Could Hue Jack be some great influence on Johnny? Maybe. But fuck Johnny. Why would Hue Jack want to deal with him? You cannot rely on him at this point in his life. No way for Hue Jack to start. Not fair to him to collar him with Johnny.

Johnny's gotta go, it's best for the Browns. You can lament it all you want, But if you are Hue Jackson, why try your hand at this shitshow when there are so many other options out there?

You act like Johnny is some great talent that we are going to miss out on by giving up on him too soon.

You are what you are. And Johnny was a standout college QB with limited results in the NFL who has proven to be lacking in the reliability and leadership required for the position.

Sure, he can change. But he has shit on everybody here, including the owner that believed in him, and the new regime would be wise to ship his sideshow elsewhere and build a professional, committed team for the get-go.

I would say the fan base was divided on Johnny before he ever set foot in Berea....and has remained so....

And they were divided for the exact reasons they are divided now......because a lot of people thought he would bring the massive mess he has brought to the team and the city.....

  • I heard Jason Cole from Bleacher Report on radio today say he expects the Browns to just cut JM some time between now and two weeks from now and was leaning more towards sooner rather than later

How about we make this ruling here: If and when JFF gets cut...if that is what is to occur....then this thread....and every other single other one that is created that talks about the boy (and he is a boy) be locked.

How many of you remember when Pete Franklin was on the radio. (Franklin still is to this day the biggest name in Cleveland sports talk radio..at the time he may have been the only game in town talking sports)?

He went on rant after rant about the Cavs and the ineptness of Ted Stepien. Stepien vowed to sue him (or he did sue him). Franklin then made a rule that he would then never let a word be said about the Cavs on his radio show. And he did exactly that. For 2-3 years even during the height of basketball season he never had a conversation about the Cavs. (and not many people cared because as a result of Stepien's management the Cavs sucked big time)

    It was a complete moratorium.

Can we have a complete moratorium on JFF when he is gone? At least a full year.

1 week from today is when we can cut him.

I liked the idea of merging every JM thread we've ever had into one - creating a mega hundred+ page rollercoaster ride of emotions.
