Jonathan Paul Manziel

All JFF bashing aside. This young man is heading down the road to tragedy. I just hope someone, someway, somehow can reach him before it happens. He needs intervention now.

Don't you think the Manziel discussion thing has been worn out? It totally shocks me.... the interest this guy holds with the national media and the Cleveland media / fans. I didn't have any problem with the draft pick, and was hopeful, but not convinced he would be a good NFL qb. His style was suspect, after watching RG3 after his first year. I don't particularly consider myself a fast learner...since I still remain a Browns fan, but it didn't take long for me to see that Johnny Football was not NFL caliber. Yet, still...he has his defenders who expect him to be successful in the NFL. At this point, with the recent thing in Dallas, I just hope he doesn't come to some tragic end at such a young age. I've come full circle...going from liking the college Johnny.....to, can't wait to see him gone...to, hoping he bounces back, wanting to see him succeed. Obviously, there must be very little of interest going on in my life at the moment, to even be responding to this.

I equate it to slowing down to get a good close look at a car wreck.....no one "wants" anyone to crash, but by golly, lets have a good close look if they do.....it's just human nature....
that girl is like Josh Gordon's buddy, always around when Johnny gets hemmed up. is she the one with his heartbeat tattoo on her?
a restraining order against her is step 1, regardless of NFL or anything else in his life. that's certain.
From the outside, it seems like a fairly toxic relationship.....I do believe I read that she is getting a restraining or protection order..
perhaps Ryan Leaf is the only person on this earth that could actually pull off a successful intervention with JM. Almost the exact same story of a great college player who fell from grace both athletically and personally in his short lived NFL QB career
Or Todd Marinovich???.....The parallels are shocking.....
JM....Uber hyped....2nd QB picked....1st rd #22....red flags everywhere
TM....Uber hyped....2nd QB picked....1st rd #24....red flags everywhere
JM....year 1 rides bench behind Journeyman.....enters rehab at year end
TM....year 1 rides bench behind journeyman......enters rehab at year end
JM....given starter opportunity year 2.....gives it back to journeyman
TM....given starter opportunity year 2.....gives it back to journeyman
JM....starts 8 games total in first 2yrs.....2-6 record.....mid season relapse of problems....starts downward spiral
TM....starts 8 games total in first 2yrs.....3-5 record.....mid season relapse of problems....starts downward spiral
JM....57% comp.....1675 yds......7 td vs 7 int.....111 ypg.....74 qbr
TM....51% comp.....1345 yds......8 td vs 9 int.....168 ypg.....66 qbr
JM....released by team after just 2 years(?)...facing league discipline(?)
TM....released by team after just 2 years.....suspended during off season
JM....future?
TM....out of football following unsuccessful attempt with CFL, plus injury.....
And, now, I see his agent has dropped him???.....it's intervention time for JFF....

I hope someone can reach him before he hurts someone else. Either by drinking and driving or having some sort of psychotic break down. His football career is over for the time being. Sadly I still don't think this is rock bottom for him.I just hope someone, someway, somehow can reach him before it happens.

His dad trying to get him in rehab from the sounds of it.

Interesting comparison with Todd Marinovich, Mud.
And while as you know I think most of the accusations rank between meaningless and of some small concern, the statement from his agent is the most troublesome.

Johnny's agent dumping him...

This is sad.
He still never learned to go through progressions and was still too innacurate and he never impressed me as a guy that could be our answer at starting QB ....
But I like him, he played for us, and I want the best for him.
Just like I want the best for Oliver Davis, Mike Oliphant and Brian Robiskie.
I feel for his parents because this has to be hardest on them, and they seem to be really trying.
The kid's got demons. I'm going pray he gets things turned around and the Johnny Football story has a happy ending.

Johnny Manziel's dad, Paul, told Dallas Morning News, "I truly believe if they can't get him help, he won't live to see his 24th birthday."

Is there something in the board software that doesn't like long threads? Why not just keep the other one going?

It does help the website a bit to break them up. There were a few mean-spirited posts gathering, so I thought it was a good stopping point.

Gentlemen:
Here is the situation associated with the Police Report that was made. And remember I come at this as both someone who has defended the accused on these in the past (not so much any more), someone who has represented victims....and as a magistrate who has heard these cases.
Bottom line, the reason that both the Dallas and Ft. Worth police have dropped this investigation: They do NOT believe a word of what this girl says. She can file a report and give a statement and say anything she wants in there, but clearly the police who did this investigation.....after interviewing her and judging her credibility, after interviewing Johnny and judging his credibility, after interviewing other witnesses and judging their credibility (and from what I have heard there were other witnesses) they do not believe her story. I believe it goes much further than just a he said/she said situation. I think they don't believe what she says and probably have other evidence....statements, witnesses that support their decision.
Let me also say this about police these days: if they believe a man has committed multiple assaults/kidnapping etc., they are NOT just going to let this go because she doesn't want to press charges. They CAN bring charges on their own without her cooperation if things look bad enough for the accused.
So, bottom line: they don't believe a word she says.
I am not trying to defend JFF....I am just giving the straight dope on this.

The girl seems to be just as screwed up as he is, so I can see that. The 911 caller was a neighbor, but not sure what she witnessed outside of screaming.

Well, I am hoping there are no criminal charges.
Either way, something bad happened, and the kid is succumbing to his demons.
Your agent and your Dad don't just say shit like that for the hell of it.
He needs long term help. Give up football for a couple seasons.
Maybe the Browns can get a medical exemption for him if he goes into long-term rehab.

Totally agree Z. He is in serious trouble and his poor parents are at wits end trying to save him from himself. They are totally helpless at this point after twice checking him into places and twice they find no reason they can keep him against his will. We all know he can talk a good ballgame so without the magical "kill myself or others" they can't do anything but release him. This is a tragedy right now and no longer just a Johnny being Johnny story.

Also of note, the Browns probably knew about details between him and girlfriend, parents, etc.
Seemed like they were quick to make a statement that basically said "he's gone" so they could get in front of all of the news before it came out.

I agree with Z & Ag. Also, as a parent of an adult Son who HAS made great strides in changing his life for the better, My Prayers go out to his Family that he does get the help he needs.
