  • I'm winking orgasms and we've given the valet a name. Looks like we are short on Johnny news today.

I think he needs to parachute into the Halftime show tomorrow with a bottle of Dom and a porn actress.

Would certainly be more exciting than Cold Play.

The valet should have called the police and made a report. There is no question in my mind I would have done it even if I didn't fully believe the girlfriend because I could not take the chance. I would have made the report and let the police investigate.

"So mr Rodriguez, you did not then believe that Ms Crowley was in any danger?"

In court, what he believes or thought isnt at issue......only what he "saw" or witnessed....

His motives for not calling police or not helping are inconsequential....

All he has to say is "I didnt want to get involved"....

My answer would be (even if I wasn't sure or didn't believe the girlfriend) is that the girlfriend said she was fearful for her safety and asked me not to let him take her and I wanted the police to investigate to be sure. I didn't want to make the decision if she was being truthful or not. If someone tells you something like this you about have to take them at their word (at the time).

If Manziel had hurt or killed his girlfriend the question being asked by the police to Mr. Rodriguez would be "why didn't you call and report this?. Didn't she tell you she feared for her life? Didn't she ask you to help her?"

Mr. Rodriguez himself might get criminal charges for failing to make a report as Manziel's girlfriend was stating she was being taken against her will by Manziel. The girlfriend is reporting a crime as you cannot take someone against their will. In many states failure to report a crime is a crime itself.

It is the job of the police here to make the call if the girlfriend is truthful or not. The valet has a responsibility to report a crime but not to investigate one. The police will interview the girlfriend and Manziel and make the decision if there are to be criminal charges (although they may call the prosecutor for legal advice as to what possible charges are involved).

Well if you don't think that's relevant I think youre dreaming but stranger things happen. I would think his reasoning for not responding to what she said was a dangerous situation will be very relevant.

    What do you think Gipper?

The valet is the only witness so his opinion on whether or not her story is credible is all we have to go on. Anyway that's what I'd ask if I was his attorney so...

Isn't there a Samaritan Law somewhere? And his involvement wouldn't have to be anything beyond just calling the cops.

I think that's what a normal person would do in that situation. I'm not suggesting he fight him.

But its not a crime in Texas...it's called "Duty to rescue" and is only enforceable in 10 states....and has a lot of language making it very difficult to enforce...

    What do you think Gipper?

Im interested what Gipper says too....but Id think the court doesnt care about an individuals "opinion" of what was happening or would use a valets opinion as an expert opinion....maybe he's just a cowardly dumbass...

usually opinions are hearsay and facts are the only allowable testimony....

I think all he has to do is confirm her version of events....basically, that she asked him for help and he didnt respond.....because if a woman is asking for help, is it really up to the doorman to establish in court that she didnt need it?....does his judgement somehow supersede hers in a court of law?....especially since she's the one in danger and he's just a bystander who knows nothing about the situation?

His opinion wont make a difference. 10 people could witness something and all come away with different opinions.....why should his be the "credible one"???.....if she asked for help and he confirms that, then it adds credibility to her story...

  • I think we all agree the valet should have at least called the police and reported this when it happened. He told the girlfriend there was nothing he could do but he could at least have called 9-11 and reported to the police what the girlfriend had told him.

  • The valet was probably given hush money. There would be no other plausible explanation.

    Absolutely....100% agree....

Let's not forget, in addition to rehab, Johnny also underwent therapy for anger management in college....so there is a believable precedent for him losing it.....

Well if I were the prosecutor or defense and you are correct Id think he was a pretty worthless witness.

The (only) good news is that most of us have backed off from pure attack mode.....its now more of a discussion, than it is a contentious debate.....and this thread is very tame compared to all the past threads....

Rather than ripping him to shreds, I think most of us just think he needs help.....and he has a lot of people reaching out to assist him with that.....Family, The Browns, The NFL, Ryan Leaf, Marinovich....even Charlie Sheen(lol).....

The ball is in his court now......but to think we wont be watching and discussing it?.....nope, we will.....

Seems likely "the valet" had the keys and/or had to get the car. It's kinda what they do.

So his decisions went beyond whether or not to call 911...

He does need help, but if it's true he hit his girlfriend so hard he burst her ear drum then he loses all sympathy from me (and many other people, I imagine)

He really needs to step up to the plate and admit he has a problem. He made the TMZ statement "I'm just having fun." If the restraining order, Browns' statements, agent dropping him, Lebron dropping him, and criminal investigation haven't convinced him he has a problem then I'm not sure what will. Maybe the mavs players and other people who he goes out with need to stop enabling and convince him he needs help.

I really hope when the Browns draft their next QB in a few months the Manziel circus will have left town.

I guess I missed the part when I watched Manziel play and thought, "wow what a great pick, he'll be an important part of the Browns for years to come". Analysts are being kind by saying in year 2, "he looked more prepared" and "there were times he played at an NFL level". This is the 22nd pick in the NFL draft. There were games, like Tennessee who stinks, were Manziel looked like he could be a solid game manager but at no point did he ever look like a top 15 QB and that is what you are hoping to get with a QB in the first round. I know we, myself included, are desperate to find the next Bernie Kosar but for god's sake can we admit when we've got nothing.
