sad. with the negative media, if they don't cover for him, they are throwing him under the bus.
but they did, trying to protect him from himself, and now they are complaining the Browns
covered for him..
Exactly....the Browns were the bad guys because they kept him on the bench and tried to discipline him.....and then the Browns were the bad guys by protecting and enabling him...cant have it both ways....
The biggest mistake the Browns made was to ignore the mountain of evidence available "before " the draft....So, by picking him, they sort of brought this on themselves...
Is that certain? Should we suspend without pay based upon these latest allegations, does that not pave the way to a dismissal without any further pay?
Not sure what they're gonna do now....but if they keep him, they will be ridiculed for being stupid and if they cut him, they will be ridiculed for abandonning him in his time of need....continuing the lose-lose situation for the Browns....
So if one of the Browns players ratted coach Pettine out by telling the ESPN hack the Johnny was actually drunk and the Browns lied I will assume that will bring down a load of shit on the organization. Any idea who the rat might be?
Who on the team would want to screw his teammates over like that?
WSS
Grossi reported this the week it happened.....but most chose to ignore it.....strange that its news now.....

Yes, Grossi reported it, and he asked Pettine about it ... and they flat out denied it.
Now a player reported it to a reporter at the Super Bowl and it's probably going to blow up.
Because as we all know ... it's not the crime, it's the cover up.
The Browns who were "so mean" to Johnny, disciplining him and benching him and asking him to be an adult ... are now probably ultimately be in trouble for covering up one of his last miscues.
As you say, Johnny was a lose/lose proposition for the organization. We look like horseshit no matter what we do.
Even the homeless guy that picked him has to be feeling some regret at this point.

Apparently a player just confirmed it to the ESPN guy. I just wonder who it was.

Interestingly, the reporter is Mike Silver of the NFL Network ... owned by the NFL
You conspiracy theorists can have fun with that.
As far as the player ... Silver was at the SB and said he "talked to a Browns player yesterday" ... so, if by talking, he means face-to-face chat, you gotta look at the Browns who were there.
Dansby was there I believe. He likes to talk.
Not sure said player is a "rat", they may not have thought about the consequences to the Browns. Rat to Johnny though, yes.
I vote Dansby.

Yeah....dont have any idea who would "want" to hurt the Browns....but could specualte it's either a player who didnt realize how condemning this could be OR someone who already knows they wont be a Brown next season....

I remember the pressy clearly....and wasnt sure I believed it then, cause Grossi seemed pretty clear that he wouldnt report it if he wasnt sure....
Man...what a mess....

Was it at the SB for sure??... cause Silver is a Cali boy and I was thinking Mack might be a suspect too....

BBedward posted the video above, looks like he is at SB. Mack would make a good rat since he has three paws out the door ... but that Dansby likes to talk ... and it was probably a defensive player, closer ranks with fellow offensive players.
All just speculation of course ... but what else is there to do in February?

So Zombo, you are going easy on the player who drops a dime on the Cleveland Browns?
That doesn't do Manziel any good and fucks with the team.

"Report: Johnny Manziel was drunk at practice, Browns lied to cover him"
I wonder if the NFL will investigate this.
Not that we can be in trouble for "enabling", but falsifying an injury report.
Wouldn't the doctors that examined him have to be in on it too?
If he was drunk, just bench him again, and suspend him for a game ... I guess they were still trying to protect their #1 pick investment at that point, hoping he'd get clean in the offseason.
NFL could probably put the screws to Pettine and find out the truth now if they wanted too. And then dock the organization for something about lying about the injury. It never ends.

Nah- if you've read any of the comments posted on some of the National websites, the sentiment of other fans is Manziel is now officially a bum, and the the Browns would be held in the same view as the Ravens were when they dumped Ray Rice. Or you can go back even further to Lawrence Phillips types.

I really hope this doesn't come back to bite the Browns in the ass. Manziel's draft day comment should have been- "I'm gonna wreck this franchise."
Homeless guy? He may be dead by now.

Also as mentioned before before or after the assault with a deadly weapon, the butcher knife?
Texas' Castle laws are pretty strong...
of course she's a she...
and it was a knife not a gun...
I do know that anyone who pulls a butcher knife on m, male or female, is going to get a quick stunning shot to the ear, the knee or up the nose with a palm. All 3 cause at least a temporary disabling condition that allows me time to leave with no one getting stabbed.
Kung Fu Aggie?
Zombo said:
So, if that is true, he really did show up drunk and Pettine took one final bullet for him.
Should have called Tressel for advice...
Kung Fu Aggie?
LOL! Nope, Infantry School Ag where they teach you every vulnerable place in the body and how best to get to it if you want to survive hand to hand combat. They add the spirit of the bayonet to that later in the training.

I wonder if she was wearing this when she grabbed the butcher knife?

MK reports the Browns are denying lying about Johnny.
They seem pretty firm about it, and NFL doesn't seem interested in exploring it.
Also some added "suspects":
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2016/02/browns_say_johnny_manziel_did.html
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns said Tuesday a report by NFL Network's Mike Silver that they lied about Johnny Manziel's late-season concussion is false.
"Johnny Manziel came to our facility on the morning of December 30th and complained of concussion symptoms,'' the Browns said in a statement. "He was tested by an independent neurologist and entered the league's concussion protocol. He remained in the protocol until January 12th after being cleared by the independent neurologist."
Spokesman Peter John-Baptiste said the report the Browns lied about the concussion "is false.''
Silver reported Tuesday on NFL Network that he was told by a Browns player that Manziel showed up for work drunk the Wednesday before the Jan. 3 season finale against Pittsburgh, and that the Browns lied and said he was in the concussion protocol.
"I was with a Browns player yesterday,'' said Silver, who was at the Super Bowl all week. "Johnny Manziel, going into what would have been a start late in the season, showed up drunk at practice on a Wednesday. The Browns lied and said he was in the concussion protocol. Let me say this again: The Browns lied. To try to protect, and, what I would argue, enable, this irresponsible and very troubled young man."
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told cleveland.com: "Mike Silver doesn't work for the league office. We don't have any comment on his report. I would refer you to the Browns for any potential comment.''
Based on Aiello's comments, it seems the NFL is not currently looking into the matter.
Silver, incidentally, is close friends with Browns coach Hue Jackson, who was also at the Super Bowl all week, as were many Browns players. Jackson said he spoke with Joe Thomas, Alex Mack and Christian Kirksey among others at the Super Bowl.
Manziel did show up for work disheveled and out of sorts the Wednesday before the season finale, a league source told cleveland.com. He was sent to the trainer to be checked out and diagnosed later that day with a concussion by the independent neurologist.
On Thursday, he was ruled out of the game with the concussion; and on Saturday, he was spotted in Las Vegas wearing a blond wig and a fake mustache and going by the name of Billy, according to USA TODAY Sports.

Response is out...
The Cleveland Browns had this to say about the allegations:
“Johnny Manziel came to our facility on the morning of December 30 and complained of concussion symptoms. He was tested by an independent neurologist and entered the league’s concussion protocol. He remained in the protocol until January 12 after being cleared by the independent neurologist.”

Post the Mike Silver tweets.
Could be true that he was A. drunk and B. concussed.

Johnny probably could have been shithammered and failed a concussion test.
Seems the Browns are covered.

The checklists are similar.
I've been concussed three times... knocked cold one of those times.
I've felt far, far worse the next morning after alcohol consumption "numerous times"?

Adam Shefter chimes in:
One well-placed Browns source who had contact with Manziel that Wednesday told Schefter: "Manziel looked terrible. He wasn't drunk, but he was heavily hung over on something. There was something going on there."
Manziel complained that he was having trouble with light, was vomiting and had a headache.
"This wasn't some massive cover-up," the source told Schefter. "What are you going to do? You have to put him in the protocol.
"... He was not drunk that day, but he was (recovering) from being on something. I don't know what he was doing the night before, but something was wrong with him."
One Browns player told ESPN that several teammates knew Manziel had complained of headaches early that week, and that Manziel had briefly attended a quarterbacks meeting early that morning.

Well, here's is at least a confirmation that he hung out with Mack....
Michael Silver @MikeSilver 17h17 hours ago
Of course it did
Tim K. @SnakeLaFleur@MikeSilver I know you'd never give details, but curious if, when you hung out with Alex Mack, the subject of playing for Hue came up...Im leaning toward Mack, but guess we'll never know....and thinking the NFL will not pursue this....and dont think it's really in their best interest to either...might sent a conflicting message if they're about to engage in some type of discipline with JM.....
Also noted....The Browns didnt waste one single second defending their position or the "reports about them"....unlike our boy JM....
-
I guessing if the Browns did cover it up. They were doing it to try and retain any trade value they thought he might have had.
