  • Well, you don't go to jail for a first time domestic violence offense do you?

He would bond right out and then probably get sentenced to fine, classes, rehab and community service.

Well....I think if he's in jail, his $$$ comes off the books.....and, in the end, it may free the Browns from having to pay any guaranteed $$...

I'm pretty sure you get a Get Out Of Jail Free card on first offense. Not sure how it works if you are convicted and the NFL suspends you. Are you still paid? And not sure any affects guaranteed money either.

  • Right...dont think he's going to jail.....just responding to Hoortas question....

Not sure what your angle is.

Johnny would be going up against the State of Texas not her family.

Maybe you are thinking of civil action?

    Zombo

  • on the plus side, if he did go to jail, then he'd be getting free rehab too....or at least a good long dry out period....

....and time to study his play book....

Let's see, who is it filing the charges and who was it that made the claim? After speaking to her attorney?

And unless there's a conviction there's no jackpot. You figure out the angle.

Well, if there is video of him hitting her, and medical records of injury, it doesn't matter what the angle is/was.

He'll be guilty, he'll get convicted and the NFL will come down hard on him. If he's still in the league.

Yes that's true. So I guess we wait on that video. If he committed the crime he should get the same punishment any average guy should get. But... Unlike you if he gets charged and suspended I hope it's before we have to pay him.

If he's suspended, I don't think we get to wash our hands clean. His contract is suspended, and picks up after his suspension. That's what happened with Josh Gordon.

We would still be on the hook for the rest of Johnny's contract, we just wouldn't be obligated to pay him while he's suspended.

    That's my assumption.

    Zombo

--If we cut him, the cap hit should be the same, whether he is is suspended or not.

  • I would have guessed that suspension means we could void the contract for non-fulfillment.

We made the decision not to release Gordon. Hey maybe this will be good. Johnny can go to serious rehab turn his life around and start for us in 2017!

    🙂

  • If what she claims is true JM will be charged with aggravated domestic assault most likely. It's a 2nd degree felony in Texas with a 2 to 20 year prison sentence.

  • and even if he's not she can still go after him in civil court alleging whatever to line her pockets. mental and physical abuse. pain and suffering. boo fucking hoo.

OJ was found not guilty of murdering ron goldman and nicole brown but their families still won a wrongful death suit..............which they'll never see a dime of.

  • If indicted, odds are he goes on that Commissioners Special list as did AP for the old swtcheroo.

No idea if the rules over that thing have ever been settled.

  • After the Ray Rice thing, if there is video it would suck to be Johnny wife beater.

  • Another one of those miscreant A&M NFL players getting courtside mugshots. 😁

IF...............he clears this latest legal fiasco and IF...............he goes back through rehab............then I think he has a chance to be picked up by a team with an aging QB that can wait for him to mature into a real NFL QB. That is not Cleveland and really never was.
