Will you be prepared for ..when..an Obamao-inspired national crisis hits?

The cardio thing was so next level tbh. Had never occurred to me before that.
IKR, guns/blunt object, food/water, somewhere safe, then maybe entertainment. Ultimately make your way to an island that you can clear of zombies (and zombos) and farm. Oh hey, we're back OT

-
zombies don't swim. They won't be on the island, unless there's a bridge.

Two strangers were out backpacking in the woods. They came upon each other and decided to walk the next bit together. Around a bend in the trail they came face to face with a bear. One stranger drops to his knee, fetches his running shoes from his backpack and begins removing his hiking boots. The other stranger just stares and says, "There is no way you can run faster than that bear."The cardio thing was so next level tbh. Had never occurred to me before that.
The kneeling stranger stands up and replies, "I don't have to be faster than the bear. I only have to be faster than you."

Yeah it wasnt a great movie necessarily. But it had its moments
-
we aren't talking about movies. that's another forum. Let's keep to the subject here.
For instance, you have a major crisis, have to evacuate your home, maybe for a month or two.
Something horrible happened, terrorist act, freak gigantic tornado-hurricane, some nuke plant
major disaster.... or societal breakdown...
what would you and your fellow townsfolk do? what would you take with you?
The people at Katrina never planned for that to happen. Or else they would have moved?
What if something does happen? Where would you go, what would you take with you?
Suppose we get hit by a terrorist attack, and obamao goes full bill ayers and bernidine dorn?
http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/weatherunderground/today.html He was friends with ayers, btw.
started his career at ayers' father's home.
Would you know how to survive?
Okay, ignore all that, and go with a more plausible scenario. You go out west, or to Canada or Alaska,
on vacation. You get lost on some side dirt road, way out in the wildnerness, and your car breaks down.
No communication, no cell towers. Nobody knows where you went, or if you're even there.
You can't walk out. Would you have the know how to do well in that environment? What if it
was a beautiful fall day just a week before winter?
Just curious. It's more like having a first aid kit and a fire estinguisher. You know you won't have a fire or get
hurt...but what if?
-
I could make the best pancakes from scratch, start a fire several ways, build a shelter,
find water and food, stay warm, use various plants for food and medicine, at least a bit,
Saw this write up on a couple who drove through Utah..or Idaho... in winter, and their car
cronked, quit running, way, way out in the wilderness.
their choices were terrible. Would ya know how to make good choices?
suppose you go fishing and camping way up N. in Ontario? Car won't start, cell phone won't work,
you are in the wilderness. Stranded for days/weeks... you're at the end of some small dirt road you noticed,
at the end of the paved road, end of the gravel road....
would ya know how to make smart decisions and stay safe/fed/safely hydrated?
just interesting to think about.
-
Well, if my car broke down in the middle of nowhere, then I doubt Id have anything with me. Unless I thought to fill my truck with survival stuff. which I wouldnt.....but in Alaska....in the wilderness....a week before winter.....I know Id have warm clothes and a blanket(cause I always do).....Id have a lighter or 2, some snacks and outdoorsy stuff.....plus, Id have my car for shelter and some scooby snacks(plus Id probably have my dog too....so if I got really really hungry, then so sorry for scoobs)
....But...yeah....I think Id survive long enough.....the car would provide many things like tools and materials for cutting, hunting etc....and have very good camping/survival skills that I think would carry me.....hopefully.....

http://www.thenewsurvivalist.com/have_an_emergency_plan.html
Have a PlanIt is important to have an emergency plan of action and to familiarize every family member with it. This will insure that important steps will get done as quickly and efficiently as possible after a disaster strikes. It will also instill a sense of confidence in all family members, so instead of the feelings of helplessness, panic and chaos that unprepared individuals will face, your family will remain confident, calm and organized. The actions taken during the first few minutes and hours after a disaster will often turn out to be critical, perhaps even saving a life.
Does everyone in your family know what to do when there is a natural gas leak in your house? Earthquakes, tornadoes and similar disasters can result in a rupture of a natural gas pipe. If not taken care of immediately this could result in an explosion that could destroy your home and everything in it! You should locate the main valve that shuts off the gas to your house, usually located outside next to your gas meter. You will need a large wrench. Acquire a wrench just for this purpose and make sure that everyone in your family knows how to shut the gas off. (Don't actually shut it off if you have pilot lights in any of your gas appliances or they will have to be re-lit when you turn the gas back on.) The gas valve is often difficult to turn, so you will need a wrench large enough to provide sufficient leverage. Store this wrench in a location that can be easily accessed in times of emergency, near a back door entrance or in an outside shed for example. I have my wrench hanging on the wall in my garden shed with the words "For Gas Shutoff" written in large letters on the wall above it. Every family member should know the location of this wrench and how to use it. I recommend that you refrain from using this wrench for any other purpose, to insure that it will always remain in its proper place and ready for an emergency.
It is also a good idea to familiarize every family member with what to do in case there is a ruptured water pipe in your house. Locate the main valve that shuts the water off to your entire house and make sure that every family member knows how to close it. Sometimes this valve is located inside the house, perhaps in the basement where the main water line enters the house. If there is no such shut off valve in your house you will have to shut the water off at the meter, which may be outside your house. This will require a special tool that will reach all the way down to the valve because outside water meters are located deep enough to remain below the freeze level. Keep this wrench in a special location like the gas wrench and make sure that everyone in your family knows where it is and how to use it.
Every home should have a good fire extinguisher located on each level of the house. These should be regularly maintained and kept in good working order. Battery operated smoke detectors should also be appropriately located at all levels of your home and their batteries should be checked regularly. I also recommend an electronic carbon monoxide detector.
Part of your plan should also include an agreed upon place for family members to meet in case your home is destroyed or otherwise uninhabitable. You should also have one or two backups in case your agreed upon meeting place is unavailable. Plan A, for example, may be a neighbor's house. Plan B could be a nearby family member's house, and Plan C could be a local public place such as a school, church or park.

Action Step 3: Home Preparation
Turn your Action Planner to a fresh page and at the top write "Home Preparation." Now draw a line down the center of the page dividing it into two columns. At the top of the column on the left write "Get" and at the top of the column on the right write "Do." Under "Get" make a list of things that you plan to acquire to help prepare your home for an emergency. Below are some examples:
- [ ] Fire extinguisher
- [ ] Smoke detectors
- [ ] Carbon monoxide detector
- [ ] Wrench for turning off gas
- [ ] Wrench for turning off water
- [ ] Etc.
Add others that you can think of now and continue adding as you think of others in the future. Use this as your shopping list. You might draw a little box to the left of each item, as I have done in the example above, and put an X or a check in the box in front of each item that you acquire.
On the right side of the page under "Do" begin a list of the things that you plan on doing to help prepare your house and your family for an emergency. This will be your "To Do" list. You might include, for example, things like:
- [ ] Replace batteries in smoke detectors
- [ ] Have fire extinguisher maintained
- [ ] Secure cabinets for earthquake
- [ ] Earthquake-proof water heater
- [ ] Show each family member how to shut off the gas
- [ ] Show each family member how to shut off the water
- [ ] Work out a meeting place for family members to gather in case the house is destroyed.
- [ ] Etc.
Add others that you can think of and continue adding items as they occur to you in the future. Check each item off or cross it out after you have completed it.

definitely board up your windows, they always try to come in if they can hear you. They don't seem to be able to climb very well so a treehouse might be a decent bet.
