I'm on board with that stance, antagonistic wording aside
If you're a religious institution that disavows homosexuality (rightly or wrongly) then I don't see why you should be forced to perform a ceremony for a gay couple any more than you'd expect a jewish deli to serve you a bacon sandwich. -
I agree. However the opposition never worded their objections as only pertaining to religious marriages. They didn't even want gays and lesbians to have civil unions as that was too "marriage like". I wouldn't want religious institutions to be forced to marry gays either. That's over the line.

forcing people to redefine a long standing moral and societal, spiritual institution deprives people
of their liberty and pursuit of happiness.
giving gays the right to force them to lose those rights is just wrong.

Happened when we bought our farm. that fall, I was out in the evening, because our friends said they were out
riding their Gator, and saw a hunter. That's very bad. So, I go out there and hang out,
and sure enough, I met a couple of hunters, they were poaching our our neighbor's land, near our property line. I only
saw them just as they shot a deer on his property, in his woods.
I just walked over to meet them...
So, couldn't get hold of the neighbor, they hadn't built their home yet, the same for the game warden, so
I just let it go, and let them take the deer. But did report it later.
So, the next year I was out there, and sure enough, one of those guys was walking along the edge
of our woods, pointing his muzzleloader? into our woods. Much farther, and he'd be pointing it at me.
Then he saw me, before I called out, and went crazy, screaming and yelling, getting angrier and angrier,
until he pointed his gun right at me, I jumped behind a tree, and he starts screaming that he's going to kill
a "deer" right next to my head. So, I call my Wife, she calls the sheriff, and they came out, and fast.
They drove out to the woods, it's getting dark, the guy must have been moving into our woods,
and I heard him quietly say "oh, )(&", The sheriff is out near me and calls out, I call back, and what a relief
if was to meet him.
Well, I knew the pyscho's name from the previous encounter, and he said they would follow up
and it wouldn't happen again. And, he told me if he owned these beautiful woods, he would do exactly
as I was doing. Said about three years ago, a house a mile away, had a slug go through their window.
and, he said that he would -never- be out there without a loaded weapon on him. Said that
as often as two times a week, they would be arresting people on whatever drugs he mentioned.
He said they were out of their minds, and extremely dangerous. Said they would attack like rabid
animals - not even human. Said I should definitely get a ccw license and carry. and that he tells
his friends times are changing, and some changes - well, a CCW license is important - and to
CARRY it, every day. especially being out at night.
Said he has friends who never owned a gun, but they have ccw licenses now.
Well, that's a deputy of the dept, and he was serious. So, I did. Some of our best long-time friends have.
Our neighbor wants to. I've had other friends ask me to show them how to be safe and shoot a gun,
and asked about ccw.
I've been asked by friends to teach their kids gun safety, when all they have is airsoft rifles and pistols.
and have gotten some hugs on how differently they handle them, and how they've taught their friends.
a couple of times a friend asked me to go with him to the city train station - not in a good part of town.
At 1:30 am... it's the only time his Wife could catch it. Deserted station. Not my cup of tea, and after
we picked her up at 3 AM a few weeks later, I was joking around trying to convince them to take a stage coach in the
middle of the day, or fly, before we had to do that again......

My initial reaction to your story was to call "bullshit"; however, knowing the effects that some drugs have on people, such as PCP and flakka, I can't pooh pooh your story outright. So, I'll go ahead and call this myth "plausible ".

I would have said that the detention center @ GITMO was going to be shut down relatively soon, but with president Trump it seems awfully unlikely.
The control of the land we'll never give up - especially to the Castro government. It's not illegal that we're there due to their agreement - the Castro's just don't like the agreement ofc.
As far as strategic purpose of gitmo outside of the detention center I'm not sure, I think the latest answer is it helps with the "war on drugs." Maybe it'll be helpful in the future when Hillary starts world war 3.
