  • He's already backtracked on this, right? Not shocked.

  • PS as we speak MSNBC is asking Trump's opponents about this exact issue and everyone is waffling. Of course the woman shouldn't be punished. Really? I mean if something is against the law why should there be no repercussions for those who break it? They are giving everyone else, John Kasich Hillary Clinton Bernie Sanders and Ted Cruz a pass without badgering them for an answer.

I wouldn't argue with the logic but you know if a politician wants to be elected over the grade of dog catcher he cannot take the position of criminal penalties for women having abortions. The laws we have today are pretty much the laws we want and those we don't want get changed. The people in the country do not want criminal penalties for women having abortions and to try to force that would work as well as prohibition did.

Rand Paul made a good point on the other side. The liberal media will always try to trip republican candidates on the abortion issue but democrats never get asked questions about whether they support late term abortions.

  • Politics has gotten so dirty, the good leaders won't run anymore.

Sen. John Thune should be running.

I don't know Cal when I looked into prior presidential campaigns going back to the beginning of the country it seems like politics has been dirty for centuries. For an unknown reason to me I like following politics.

Bernie Sanders answer that with a flat no restrictions answer. Pro-choice means pro-choice when asked about late-term.

  • Why is abortion even a topic? Were we going to re right the abortion laws?

  • And speaking of MSNBC Mike Huckabee was just got reminded me of why I like Mike Huckabee so much. I wish I could find a video clip of his responses and I certainly can't take shorthand so I can't quote verbatim butt his answers or just about exactly as they should be.

It boils down to the average voter he thinks the economy is shit and we are in danger of having our way of life fucked up the way the Europeans have. That means some slight glitch in the nuance in a conversation with an attack dog like Chris Matthews isn't really a glaring problem.

He also modestly pointed out the fact that even though he had thought through some of these subjects pretty carefully he was still an unemployed politician talking about someone who's winning States on a morning talk show.

The only outside chance is the fact that legally Roe vs. Wade has basis in the viability of the fetus which has probably changed thanks to Medical Technology since Roe v Wade was settled. But no it's not going to change. It's just bullshit for the masses. We are never going to bring back slavery but if a candidate said he was for it and gave a list of reasons people would freak out even though there's absolutely no chance it would ever happen. So there.

If Ted Cruz appoints 3 justices, you know that answer to that.

  • By the way the polls are out for Wisconsin with Cruz leading and Trump behind by 10. John Kasich comes in a relatively strong third. Polls also show that Trump supporters second choice is John Kasich. That means if Kasich were not in the race Trump would be leading by probably 18 points.

Is it true the other way around, though? Are most Kasich supporters going to list Donald as their 2nd choice?

Interesting. All the talking heads thought Kasich staying in the race was a hindrance to Cruz going head to head with Trump. I thought all along Kasich staying in the race might help Cruz (but who knows how it will play out past Wisconsin?). Kasich did help Cruz for sure by taking Ohio which Trump would have won if Kasich was not in the race.

I'm not sure. I didn't see it broken down any further than that. It made sense to me since I voted for John Kasich butt my second choice just of the ones who are left, would be Donald Trump.

Everybody's been wrong about the guys dropping out. Rubio dropped out and everybody gained equally. Jeb dropped out and Trump gained the most. If Kasich drops out it'll probably split pretty evenly to Trump/Cruz.

People seem to think that since Kasich is polling at 20% nationally and Cruz is polling at 20% nationally (Trump is 50%+) then Cruz will be closer to 40-50% when kasich drops out!

But in reality Trump would exceed 60% and Cruz might hit 30%.

Cruz is totally done - outside of Wisconsin (which he might lose because it isn't a closed primary/caucus). After that let's be real - Trump is probably going to win all 95 from NY. The NE states are in favor of Trump by far (with Kasich as #2). He'll probably have the 1237 locked up pre-California, if he doesn't then he's polling ahead in CA too which is a shitton of delegates WTA.

Neither Cruz nor Kasich have a path to the nomination - after Trump sweeps the north east I expect Cruz and Kasich will both bow out as the chances of brokered convention will be 0.

  • Trump/Kasich '16?

    WSS

  • If Trump does not get the 1237 locked up by the convention I would not consider him a lock to win this thing. This thing is a mess and Donald Trump has been the huge problem. Yes he beat all the other candidates but how did he do it? On substance or on the issues or did he do a lot of name calling and insulting other candidates? Just because Carson can be compared to a child molester by Trump and still endorse him (he was promised a job by Trump) or an opportunist like Christie who said Trump was not fit to be president (and now endorses him) does not mean all these other GOP candidates Trump has trashed are going to be happy endorsing him.

The pledge given to support the eventual nominee has been thrown out the window by Cruz and Kasich who hinted about not supporting the eventual winner and Trump himself flatly saying he will not endorse the eventual winner (unless it is him).

If Trump does not get the delegates needed (and he won't) there are two ways to stop him with a brokered convention or a contested election. A brokered convention would be one where the establishment puts in place someone like Romney or Ryan which would be a disaster. In a contested convention after the first vote the delegates are free to vote for whomever they want and they will keep voting until they get a candidate with 1,237 delegates. With the current numbers looking like Trump getting blown out of the election in November : 70 percent disapproval female voters, 77 percent disapproval Hispanics, 82 percent disapproval millennials, I would say many will not really care if they will lose with Trump or lose without him. Without Trump they may even be able to save some senate seats.

I got a kick out of Trump yesterday saying he didn't need Cruz's endorsement. Really Donald with your polling numbers already having you lose by double digits to Clinton I think you would need every one of the millions of voters Cruz represents.

Trump is polling better against Clinton head to head than Reagan was polling against Jimmy Carter at this point in the race.

And maybe Carson and Christie endorsed Trump because the alternative is Cruz, who is bat shit insane and wants to destroy the country.

  • It really is a Long Way to the election. And as we speak about candidates or even sports teams peaking early, I'd say that the insane anti Trump attack dogs will wear out their welcome someday. Sooner or later the world needs to turn its venom on Hillary.

I voted for Ronald Reagan. I lived through his administration and became a believer in what Reagan stood for. Donald Trump does not compare to Ronald Reagan.

And maybe Governor Scott Walker among many others preferred Cruz over a moron like Trump who is taking the republican party off the cliff.

Scott Walker is one of the worst governors in the country, if not the worst. Scott Walker is only governor because the Kochs put him there, and he's systematically ruining the state of Wisconsin one step at a time.

Sliced funding for the school systems, shredded up workers rights and eliminated "living wage" requirements - now low wage workers are rapidly rising.

They prefer Cruz because he's bought and paid for by the establishment, not because Trump is ruining the party.

Trump wants to solve illegal immigration, cut back on H1B visas, get rid of NAFTA, fix trade imbalances (*cough* Reagan put a 45% tariff on Japanese motorcycles to save Harley Davidson in the 80s - it worked), anti-TPP.

These are positions that the elites in the country don't like - because they're good for the people, not them.

Trump has the record turnout in all the primary elections. More votes in MA than Romney got in 2012 - more votes alone in some states than were cast in entire primaries in 2008 and 2012. He's not ruining the party, he's the only reason it's relevant - people are joining.

I think this is where Trump and his supporters are making a huge mistake. Trump needs to turn his attention to Clinton and when he attacks her that will naturally rally republicans behind him. He seems bent though on destroying his own party. Trump has only gotten the support of about one third of the republican vote with two thirds opposed to him. He has made a ton of enemies within the party with his scorched earth personal attacks such as:

    Cruz: :Lying Ted

    Graham: Idiot

Perry : tries to look smart wearing glasses

Rubio: Little marco the baby, lightweight, clown

Carson: compared him to a child molester (I know he still is endorsing Trump)

    Bush: Low energy, dull

John McCain: Not a war hero because Trump only believes war heroes are those who don't get captured

Fioriana: who would vote for a face like that

I am probably missing a few.

But my worst one is Trump calling one of my all time favorite rockers Neil Young a "total hypocrite" for asking Trump not to play his songs during his campaign and once having asked Trump for some money. 🙂

I think it is possible Trump could still beat the odds but he is really going to have to get his game better and start reaching out to bring the party together. I don't like the establishment part of the GOP as much as anyone but it will take the whole of the party united to beat Clinton. Since Trump was compared to Reagan let's remember Reagan's 11 th commandment about not speaking ill towards another republican and Trump has turned that on it's head with his personal attacks and dividing the party.
