Draft/Pro Bowl Breakdown since 2000

I wonder as well - if you were to call a group 'top 40' instead of first round, how much higher would the ratio be? I mean, you then get dalton, brees, kaepernick, carr for starters, probably half a dozen between them.
I think the take away is that unless you luck in to a tom brady (russell wilson for the next generation), your franchise QB will come in the first or early second round.

Same data for Wide Receivers drafted since 2000:
1st round: 26 Pro Bowl appearances 12 by players taken in the Top 5: AJ Green/Calvin Johnson/Amari Cooper
2d round: 14 Pro Bowls
3rd round: 6 Pro Bowls
4th round: None
5th round: 1 Pro Bowl appearance
6th round: 4 Pro Bowls (all by Antonio Brown)
7th: None
-
-
Bottom line on all this so far: It seems that for quality offensive skill players, First round draftees still have about double the chance of making the Pro Bowl than players taken in any other round.

No, I am not sure how I would be able to track that.
By checking the pro-bowls from each year. That's why I thought it would be a bitch to do!

Last "Offensive skill position": Tight End:
Round 1: 21 Pro Bowl appearances (only Top Ten: 1 appearance by Vernon Davis #6 overall)
Round 2: 11 Pro Bowls
Round 3: 16 Pro Bowls (10 by Jason Witten)
Round 4: 5 Pro Bowls
Round 5: 1 Pro Bowl (Gary Barnidge for Browns)
Round 6: None
Round 7: 1 Pro Bowl

So, first round appearances by position:
QB: 49/74* = 66%
RB: 30/72 = 42%
WR: 26/53 = 49% - really, only 53 WR pro bowl appearances?
TE: 21/55 = 38%
*including brees at #32
-
Offensive Tackles:
Round 1: 52 Pro Bowl appearances. 30 of these by players drafted in the Top 5 led by Joe Thomas with 9.
Round 2: 11 Pro Bowl appearances.
Round 3. 6 Pro Bowls
Round 4: 11 Pro Bowls
Round 5: 2 Pro Bowls
Round 6: None
Round 7: None
This appears to be THE most Top Heavy position in terms of players making the Pro Bowl. So, Sorry....it is BS that great OTs at least can be had anywhere. You want a good one.....you need to get one early.

Yea, I don't know....that is all the database came up with. (again....it may be that many of those PB spots were taken up much by players drafted pre-2000. The Marvin Harrisonss/Tim Browns/Chris Carter/T.Os Maybe, at that position, the older players were more predominate.

Seems pretty straight forward. You build a good team around your early round picks, and they had better be the right picks

And THAT is why the Browns have been fucked. Yes.
