  • CFL maybe?

  • He'll catch on with someone as a competent backup. This will ground him and he'll be more accepting to that role.

  • Doubtful, he was never happy in Cleveland. He thinks he should be a starter, damn the evidence to the contrary. He's also one of the worst teammates.. and you need that backup QB to be accepting of everyone.

I don't think he plays another down in the NFL. His best skill is throwing an INT at exactly the wrong time.

  • Don't give a fuck. He had a shot and blew it. He should be grateful instead of being a dooshbag.

  • He just didn't have enough weapons here, bring him back and we have a super bowl guaranteed!

    🥷

  • Never thought Hoyer was good. He won some games but this whole hype about him being Brady's backup was crazy. I honestly think he was just as good as Brandon Weeden.

  • Sashi will have him behind center in TC. Does he make the squad? Don't know and i kinda don't care.

Weeden definitely was more physically gifted but he made some really piss poor decisions, I mean really really realllllly bad ones. While Hoyer crumbles under pressure, he was a much better game manager than Weeden ever was. Hoyer was, unfortunately, the best QB we've had since Anderson's fluke year.

But when you're talking who's the better QB your team had, and it's between Weeden and Hoyer, it's pretty sad... 🙁

Yep, he had some good games but got figured out for who he was and teams destroyed him with that info. It's easy to forget that the Browns run game was dominant that season before it all fell apart. It became a pretty simple model with him: stop the run, blitz and he'll crumble.

With that being said he's shown enough to be a solid back-up somewhere.

He and Johnny can have another QB competition.............. in Edmonton.

  • Hoyers the kind of QB that needs some really smart WR's around him that run their routes "precisely"....cause he can't make up for their route deficiencies. Especially on deep balls cause he has to put more air under them than say a Rogers or someone like that. If the WR didn't run his route right that ball comes down with a lot of the opposing secondary nearby. Like Weedon, there's certain throws that Hoyer just can't make and opposing teams learn that and take those routes away daring them to beat them on the routes they don't throw well.

... and a ground game he can PA off. Needing both is the case with most "timing" QBs. Only way they can compensate for their lack of arm talent.

Still plenty of teams that need QB depth out there. Brian is the kind of QB that could win a game or two while a starter recoups from an injury

Pick him up. Trade Down. Draft Elliot. Championship.

    Haha. I've seen worse moves.

  • I thought this happened some time ago.

  • jets look like they might sign him just to fuck fitzpatrick.

hoyer>fitzpatrick for the 2nd time in 2 years. HA!

He sat behind Brady, he can sit behind RG III. Nah- we're not bringing him back- he sailed his ship to Houston, he's not in our rebuilding future plans.

In all seriousness, he's just another example of the realization that we just as an organization have had shitty QB's. It wasn't because they didn't have a good line, great weapons or a dominant defense blah blah blah. These guys just sucked, went to objectively better teams and still sucked. You can go down the list and realize it's not just a trend.

  • Hoyer is basically a top tier backup in this league. Which means he'll keep getting tried out as a starter when he's on teams that have no starter.

Not bad work for an udfa ... good for him.

    So, he's Josh McCown?

Yep. Younger, less hair, less arm.
