This seems weird to me. Get all of those picks then trade them away.

Not really... happens quite a bit. Look no further than our recent drafts... Lord knows the TN GM has plenty of trade ammo now and his top need is still an OT to protect his franchise QB.

Personally were I him, I'd be secure in taking Decker at 15, but if he wants Stanley (with maybe a shot at a falling Tunsil), then he has to move up.

Assuming both QBs go 1-2, Tunsil could fall to 6... maybe 7 if the Ravens go D.

  • If the eagles' main guy is gone, and Tunsil is still there at #8 (unlikely) then I'm sure the eagles will happily move back and pick up a few picks, since they have no second rounder.

  • And once again Flugs demonstrates the power of analysis over conjecture...

I even put it in bold to grab you attention Tour. 😆

And also as an easy marker during the season when it actually occurs. Our division is a tough one, not for the faint hearted or little bitty QB's. 😁

    I always aim to please...

    Interesting that two-years removed, 6'4 & 215 is now considered itty-bitty... 😉

Now complete this sentence: With the #4 pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns select_________

So, to me the way to go is to get the most versatile defensive player we can....and the one to make the biggest impact.

I think that is Bosa. For those of you who say silliness like "he can't play in a 3-4" I say bullcrap. What he can do is play football. He can run over people, he can run around people, he can run people down from behind. He has played inside, he has played outside, he has rushed, he has covered, he has stopped the run. He is versatile. I may not know exactly how good some others are that could be considered...like the other DE or the DB....but I know how good he is....and if they are supposed to be better, then they better measure them for their gold jackets.

First time I can recall anyone projecting Bosa to the HOF...

No one says he "can't play in a 3-4"... what we say is he is made for the 4-3. If he has a path to the HOF, it is thru a 4-3 Defense.

Wentz will probably go #1, but if he doesn't, we have a QB with one of the quickest releases to come out in years. A guy with so much poise and compact throwing motion and running ability it's like creating the perfect Madden QB. He just needs time to adjust for NFL speed. Yes we have holes at WR OT CB ILB OLB SS FS RB I get it, too many damn holes to fill in one year anyway. We can trade 32 for more picks. GET THE QB!!!!

lol... and I was just watching tape and thinking how long Wentz's release was. It's not terrible... it's not a Wheezy Wind-up, but it is not "compact". If you want compact in this draft the line forms behind Goff.

As for "poise"... I see it in Wentz on the podium. He's a mature kid, but I honestly do not see it in his game.

And adjusting to NFL speed is no gimme.

Well at least the leprechaun had 10" hands, not those itty bitty stretchey things on Goff. 😆

That will prove shortly to be just an illusory rainbow at the rate it's going out. 😁

  • One thing that I thought about was something that came up before - 'mobility' as a generic term, covering both in the pocket and outside the pocket. Like, Goff has great pocket mobility, while Wentz is more of a run threat, but they lump both in together.

  • Yup.... no doubt Wentz is the better/more dangerous "runner", but he turns into a runner too quickly at times.

Another one that got me was "Poise". Wentz drops his eyes to the rush very quickly. At times looks like a chicken, jerking his head this way and that.

  • Since I am now choosing for the Titans in the newly revised mock draft, I have been rethinking exactly why they are trading back when everyone thinks they need a LT like Tunsil. I have decided that they have chosen to stick with the development of Taylor Lewan as their LT and use the picks to improve in other areas.

Tour I saw you had a comment about Michigan State's Conklin maybe being not as good as rated. Could you elaborate on that for me please?

Edit: 3 of the four mock drafters @NFL.com choose Conklin for the Titans @ #15. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/mock-drafts

  • I used Browns draft history and my own brand of analytics to come up with my one and only 2016 NFL draft prediction.

It won't matter at what number we pick our guy. The formula says that the pick immediately before and after us will turn out to be successful players within 3 years. Our 1st rounder will be the usual bust. I hope it's wrong but as a long time fan, it's difficult for me to think otherwise.

  • having hiring the perfect coaching staff for the first time since '99 wasn't included in your analytics, I take it....

Actually the FO did play in my prediction. When did they get the perfect staff or is that a prediction? History

    Y. Jack Conklin (MSU) - 6'6 318 http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=106344&draftyear=2016&genpos=OT

ND's Stanley may have looked less athletic than my top two OTs, but Conklin was the first OT to prompt me to write "heavy-footed"... and he did so repeatedly. He also tends to play high.

Here we may have a legit inside candidate as he is very good with his upper body, playing strong with extended arms. But his drop in athleticism cannot be ignored.

MSU was so run oriented and successful doing it that the tape is not as determinative as it is for others OTs. So Conklin is another OT who needs a good Combine in my opinion. But where Stanley has a chance to flash some athleticism, I don't see Conklin as likely to do so.

    Again... I see a Day 2 guy.
