try to get you to go to your computer, and you end up looking at
certain parts of your windows file.
and they say those files are dangerous viruses and try to sell you the solution.

Switch to linux. You'll be happier for it. I'd recommend linux mint for you.

I use Linux on all my own machines. I don't care for Windows one but and, on general principals, I'll have nothing to do with apple.

If you run a well supported linux distribution you'll pretty much never have any problems.
At work we have servers that have 2 year + uptime

Depends on the games you play - and there's office alternatives that work with all ms office files - Libre, WPS. Or you can use Office 365 which works too.
