Where was the pass rush?
-
our pass rush got swallowed up by one of the best O lines in football. Not much our rookies were gonna do. You guys see the size of Dallas's left tackle? holy fucking shit.

We didn't have a pass rush! We hardly brought more than 4 or 5 guys against them!!! It was putrid to watch!
-
It also forces the QB to make quick decisions but no let's just play zone and only rush 4 against their 5, that'll scare them!
It only forces the QB to do anything if the extra rush applies pressure or moves him off the spot.
Other teams have blitzed Dallas this year with little success. It's the best Oline in football and you tossing in probably the best blocking back in football as well, you're 5 man rush will be every bit as effective as a 4 man.
Unless you plan on playing alot of zero all day behind those blitzes. In which case, with our DB's, you'll see some some shit you don't want to.
You're the kind of guy that will bitch about the lack of blitzing, then complain when DB's give up catches because they're on an island all the time.

He's a beautiful man.

doesn't do any good to blitz when too much of the secondary can't cover, especially
with Collins being new. Irving going out hurt a lot - was listening to Kosar today on the radio -
he said the Browns' offense took off rolling, but what happens, is the limitations they still have personnel wise,
and they don't have much leeway to switch gears and adjust on the fly to what the defense is doing to stop them.
The defense - played proud, too, but that was a blue chippie oline - tough to beat. Irving getting kicked out the game
hurt. The secondary needs fixed, especially at safety, I think.
-
Erving being out killed our defense too?
-
When Ogbah, Nassib, and Cooper grow into NFL bodies they will be a force. Shelton and Meder are having decent seasons and Collins and Kirksey are already solid talents. Where we need to invest is our secondary so we can actually cover when we have 3 cbs on the field.

...the freakin' guy is contagious.

Pressure is one of the best ways to help a 2ndary... but only if your blitz gets home... or close to home. Kirksey looped inside and almost got there.
I thought Irving's being half of a double-ejection was part of a new game plan.

I know what you're saying, but even when we DID blitz, we NEVER got there. Our defenders just got ABSORBED into the line, and one time in particular, two of our guys RAN INTO EACH OTHER which gave Prescott the running room he needed to pick up like 15 yards on the ground. Our two idiots literally tripped over each other and fell down. On 3rd down. Naturally.
We have no way to generate consistent pressure. Hell, we can't even generate INCONSISTENT pressure. We don't tackle, cover, and we get less penetration than an Asian porn star. It's pathetic.
We invested heavily into pass rushers with this draft, and the results have been "Meh" so far. Ogbah sure gets to play a lot, but he got his entire ass handed to him on a platter Sunday. Nassib? Yeah, didn't see too much outta him either. Schobert? Gimme a break.
I have NO IDEA what we're going to do on defense, and I don't know if anything is Horton's fault, or if it's just because we have no talent. I hate our defense...I hate it. We have the worst 3rd down percentage in the league, and it's getting WORSE. Nobody can make a play. No strip sacks, no hard hits, no interceptions, no turnovers...nothing. It looks like we have nothing.
And that's what is so frustrating. Our offense isn't great or anything, but I would guess that we're kind of mid-pack in the NFL, right? Well shit, if our defense was ANYWHERE NEAR that, how many games would we have won?

First of all that ejection was ridiculous. Minor fight. Give me a break, refs.
Second, I had the same thought as Tour. The net result was a positive for us most likely.
Third, that's a horrible idea Orion. Someone ejected for defending his fellow player or even a coach shouldn't get paid? That'd be BS.

...not just bad...but horrible. You're right. There would need to be a minimum fine value....in case you get yourself tossed with a minute left to play.

Erving threw an opposing players helmet at the opposing player and struck the ref in the ankle. He should be suspended no less than 6 games with the possibility of a lifetime ban along with a large fine.
