Browns' 2017 offseason plan

  • Staff :

Fire Ray Horton and hire Gus Bradley as the new D coordinator.

    Cuts :

    - Robert Griffin III

    - Tramon Williams

    - Demario Davis

    - Ibraheim Campbell

    Trades :

    - Cam Erving for a conditional pick

    - Joe Haden for a 2018 3rd Round pick

    Resignings :

    - Jamie Collins, 5 years, $51 millions

    - Give Isaiah Crowell the tender

    - Stephen Pea, 2 years, $3,2 millions

    - Britton Colquitt, 1 year, $1,3 million

    - Let Terrelle Pryor go

    FA Signings :

    - Safety Tony Jefferson, 5 years, $35 millions

    - Center JC Tretter, 4 years, $28 millions

    - Kicker Phil Dawson, 1 year, $3 millions

    Mock Draft :

First round (2): Their own pick and the first-round pick from the Philadelphia Eagles

Second round (2): Their own pick and the second-round pick from the Tennessee Titans

Third round (1): Their own pick

Fourth round (2): Selections are compensatory picks for losing Mitchell Schwartz and Tashaun Gipson in free agency.

Fifth round (3): Their own pick, a compensatory pick for losing Travis Benjamin in free agency, the fifth-round pick from the New England Patriots

Sixth round (1): Their own pick

1st Pick : Myles Garrett, DE Texas A&M

Slam dunk, no brainer don't overthink. There is one road to take here, this one. A faster Aldon Smith.

12th Pick : Jalen Tabor, CB Florida

It's time to move on from Joe Haden. I hate that because I love him but he is just not reliable any more. So they replace him with the best corner of this class who happens to be from the same school.

33rd Pick : Josh Allen, QB Wyoming

Reaching for a QB at the top would be a huge mistake. I really wanted Luke Falk here but Allen is a great value at this point. He would certainly need time before starting, but he comes from a pro style offense and has everything you want in a QB except experience.

    50th Pick : Desmond King, S Iowa

The free safety position was a disaster this season. King isn't fast enough to be a corner but instinctive and smart enough to be a great ballhawk safety at the next level.

65th Pick : Adoree Jackson, CB USC

Calhoun was a surprise but needs competition in the slot. Jackson is an outstanding athlete who would finally give us a weapon on special team. Could be used on offense too. Reminds me of Devin Hester.

4th Round : Vincent Taylor, DT Oklahoma State

    Kendell Beckwith, LB LSU

5th Round : Jordan Willis, DE Kansas State

    Tyler Orlosky, C West Virginia

    Tyrone Crowder, G Clemson

6th Round : Stacy Coley, WR Miami

    2017 Starting Lineup :

    Offense :

    QB : Josh Allen

RB : Isaiah Crowell, (Duke Johnson)

    (FB : Dan Vitale)

WR : Corey Coleman, Rashard Higgins, Andrew Hawkins

TE : Gary Barnidge, (Seth Devalve)

OL : Joe Thomas, Joel Bitonio, JC Tretter, John Greco, Shon Coleman

    Defense :

DL : Myles Garrett, Danny Shelton, Desmond Bryant, Emmanuel Ogbah

LB : Dominique Alexander, Chris Kirksey, Jamie Collins

CB : Jalen Tabor, Jamar Taylor, (Briean Boddy-Calhoun)

S : Tony Jefferson, Desmond King

    Special Teams :

    K : Phil Dawson

    P : Britton Colquitt

    LS : Charley Hughlett

    KR/PR : Adoree Jackson

One offseason. That's what it would take.

    Seattle Seahawks[edit]

Whitehurst was traded to the Seattle Seahawks on March 17, 2010, in exchange for a 2011 third-round draft pick to San Diego, and the two teams switched second-round picks in the 2010 NFL draft. He was signed to a two-year, $8 million contract. Seattle's front office later stated they had already picked up a potential franchise quarterback in the draft by acquiring Whitehurst with the 2011 pick.[10]

Forgive me Mud for I have sinned. 😆

  • We keep RG3 don't be stupid.

  • I'll also have to chime in on drafting - yet another - marginally talented QB in the 2nd round. Definition of insanity.

Starting ANY rookie QB in game 1? no. Only do that in a video game.

Jury still out, but I think this FO was smart enough to see NO franchise QBs for a couple drafts, so opted for plan B and sign a guy like RG III to be a short term stop gap, as well as keeping McCown. Unfortunate injuries forced plan C, D and E

I'll pass on Phil Dawson, too.

But I would like to see an exceptional place kicker and punter here, especially at this point of the rebuild - these guys are crucial.

The Kicker and punter we have are just fine on the team for what we need.

Colquitt is fine as the punter, Parkey could be upgraded. Too erratic.

Too early to speculate what the Browns may do in the draft. Can't say I know much about Allen- his name hasn't come up yet. Doing some research- for good reason, he's only a sophomore and isn't eligible. And his stats aren't anything to write home about either. My quarterback pecking order is currently Trubisky- Kizer- Mahomes- Watson.

Letting Pryor walk would be a mistake, unless he's asking for the moon in a new contract. I could see the Browns going after Switzer from NC, a younger and cheaper alternative to Hawkins.

If the Browns don't sign a FA o-line as you suggest, drafting one no later than the pick we got from the Titans in the second round is imperative in my book, because Erving flat out sucks.

  • Half your picks are first rounders.

Allen is a RS sophomore so he's eligible.

Pryor isn't a N1 wideout. Giving him that type or money is a mistake. We drafted 4 guys last year, let's see what they can do.

I said they should sign Tretter, the center from the Packers. He graded as the 11th best center last season and will probably leave because the have Corey Lindsey who is still in his rookie contract.

  • Cut demario? The guy who kept ol off kirksey?

  • The Wyo. QB is a huge reach. Level of competition a major factor. If you want a better reach @ QB it would be Kelly, who has a better bloodline and far better competition. Or Kizer if he is still there.

  • I understand the thinking on the Wyoming QB, but it's definitely a reach to place him as the season's starter. You really don't want to start any rookies back there, especially one that plays against lesser college talent. But I like the first round picks, and if you go that way in the first, you're going to have to find a "second tier" type QB. Maybe the Wyoming guy can succeed, but I doubt he will start day one.

I'm also not too sure about letting Pryor go. His contract will be a MOTHER to work out, as there really isn't precedent here, and his agents are complete douche bags. But make no mistake about it, Pryor wants to play in Cleveland, and he wants to play for Hue Jackson. This weekend Pryor told the media that he instructed his agents to get a deal done in Cleveland. That's very encouraging, and I think we need him. We can't let him go because we don't have another proven receiver. Coleman didn't do anything, and it's tough to predict how he'll improve. He suffered a broken hand, had to deal with abysmal QB play, and also had to deal with the continuous changing of the QB position. Those conditions make it difficult to succeed, especially for a rookie. I really believe Corey has the tools needed to succeed, but we really didn't see much out of him. He never made a "jaw-dropping" play. Never took an ordinary pass and did something extraordinary with it. Not even once. I am NOT calling him a bust, simply saying I was hoping for so much more from him, and I think that's fair.

We've all heard the numerous reports of what the Patriots want for Jimmy Garoppolo. Many people on this board have stated their opinion, and have said there is no way in hell they would trade a first and a fourth for a QB with very little experience. However, Mary Kay Cabot has written several times that she's spoken to multiple NFL execs that have said they'd do this deal in a heartbeat. We need a QB, and there is no great way to get one this year. It will be interesting to see how we attack this severe need.

  • Makes no sense. Demario played well for us. Watch the film. Everytime i rewound plays he was more or less doing his job

  • If we give up any of our picks for garropolo im going to shit on a wall. Trenches first
