  • cal... you asked before about what a DE can contribute against a quick passing O? I neglected to mention "hands up."

Send a couple minutes here... stay with it at least through the field level replay and freeze frame. I promise, it's slack-jaw stuff...

Garrett is going to jump out of the room at the Combine...

Funny you mention it - I watched that yesterday, don't even need to get to the point. How many DL can jump like that?

OK I demand equal time. 🙂 Why me and Gip see Franchise QB.

The most important observation made here, and demonstrated is the way he does in fact go through his progressions to find an open receiver. Some have claimed he does not do that, that he focuses just on his initial target. But this clearly contradicts that belief. On some of these highlights he had extremely fast reads to find the 2d/3rd target.

(this announcer though is pretty lame)

Um very accurate, mobile, good pocket awareness, and noted he can toss the ball 50 yards in the air off his back foot under pressure.

We want Mitch! We want Mitch! We want Mitch!

You have sharp eyes for an old fart... but a crap sense of "equal time". I showcased one play; you post a 13.5 minute video. 😛

I watched that one as well... as I did Kizer's and Allen's and...

On the whole I like Voch's analyses, the points he makes ring true for the most part. Even for QBs, a position he states is not really in his analytical wheelhouse. (He's a "trenches" guy.) But what becomes abundantly clear after watching a few of his vids is that his sample size is very small.

He pulls a couple snippets from a couple cut-downs and talks over them as if he's not seen them before. Entertaining as hell... but not conclusively persuasive. He seems to be going for a volume of players covered rather than depth of coverage.

  • I actually thought that for as long as his video was, he did not illustrate enough plays. He liked talking about the same play over and over.

And to be totally fair Tour- those plays were pulled from his big wins- when he was "on". I've seen enough, MHO Trubisky is way ahead of any of the other qb prospects. We may well take Garrett- and I'm (reluctantly) OK with that. It's going to be an either\or. We get Myles or Mitch- not going to be both. The odds of Mitch lasting to #12 are about the same as Garrett falling that far.

  • To be fair, I'll bet that one of the QB's falls to 12. The teams from 1-11 have some pretty big weaknesses on D for which the D game-changer is more of a plus for that position than the QB.

  • Trubisky is going measure in closer to 6'1" at the combine.

We'll see. Of course a lot of those college height\weight stats get inflated- but not always.

Ha if Garrett can't make it in the NFL, the NBA awaits- but can he shoot?

Saw the reported tweet as well...

On a list of Trub concerns his height is the least of mine.

What would yours be? Outside of inexperience, which isn't *necessarily* a disqualifying factor.

"One of" the QBs lasting til 12 is not sufficient. It has to be the right "one".

None of them are the one, or else they'd be taken at #1.

And when did the Gods bestow prescience on you? Surely you could put that skill to better use. I mean, there are lotteries to win, terrorists to foil, stock to purchase.

I reckon it's concentrating on immediate impact players at the top of the draft,

and quality developmental players later in the draft, not trying to FA

the team into a quick winning season and then plummeting back into mediocrity

after the "one year" contracts are up.

But did you ever consider- Hue and the FO might also be on a "one year" contract? Another sub 4 win season, and they might all be heading for the door.

    @hoorta said:

And if that is the case, they won't be touchig a QB in round 1. I don't think they are on 1 year deals, but they need to get something changed in a hurry. A rookie QB sitting the bench isn't going to make that impact.

I agree totally with that logic. If this crew wants to remain then they have to go for defense first to get in position weekly to pull off wins and bring the fans back. Every QB in this draft requires too long to produce anything of immediate help. Bringing in 3 elite to great D players puts us in the running for a breakeven season.
