Betting on football games is a good time at Ceasars Palace or the Mirage. College opening day is the bomb. As long as you gamble on games the drinks are free.

March Madness, for the NCAA is great too.

I think I heard that that is the busiest time in Vegas. The most action in the sports books, and the highest occupancy rate for the hotels there.

Only walking to the Dome. LOL it's a dry heat. I don't care if it's zero humidity- 120 is not survivable for long. With all due respect to you- southern guy, I blame Willis Carrier- the inventor of AC, for reshaping the demographics of America. Would you really want to live where you are without it? Proof is since 1940 the population of Vegas has grown by a factor of almost 19. From 8,400 to over 1.5 million. I've always said if ISIS wanted to destroy the US, all they'd have to do is take out the power grid- there'd be chaos within a week. With that in mind- it's why the government spent millions to divert US 93 (used to go over) the Hoover Dam- no longer. A McVeigh truckload of high explosives detonated on top of it, would have been bye-bye Vegas and a bunch of other towns. Ghoolie has a thing on his FaceBook page "water is the new gold" and population growth in the desert southwest is going to be limited by that factor sooner or later.

Isn't the proposed stadium they are to build a Dome? I know that Adelson is supposed to have backed out, but, there are other major investors that could step in.

Ah, another example of NFL greed Gip. Go where the money is, not necessarily the TV market and population. Vegas is the 42nd market. You get out of Vegas and Henderson- there's a whole lot of nuthin'.

Well at the risk of giving away that I'm just a couple of months shy of 70, I never experienced AC when growing up in sweltering, humid Beaumont, Texas. But when you grow up that way you aren't really aware you're missing something. You just go shoeless from May-Sept and develop the callouses to kill bees with a bare foot. 😆

Gipper, I will be living in Las Vegas by that time, most likely Stan will too. I would consider the Las Vegas a rebirth of my interest and loyalty to an NFL football team. Stan likewise is at the end of his rope with this fucktard of a team, fanbase, and cluture.

Browns fans, and yeah, I sue 90% of the people here, have become really, really fucking weird. Reality doesn't mean anything to Browns fans. Loyalty is one thing, but reality is a rarity in Browns town. No matter how bad the team is, no matter how bad the draft, coaches, game plan, and performance is, Browns fans have a fucking excuse. More Steeler fans in Ohio? Ah, its those dumb fucking people.

And fans, once tough, have become pussies. Look at Zomblow, post something he doesn't like, he pulls the post. What is to love about the Browns? In all honesty, the Ravens are the Browns, I hang here mainly to kibbutz with my old pals. i don't think you will have football in Cleveland 5 years from now. he fan base is shrinking, and most people around the nation don't even remember a good season, let alon the glory years.

Yeah, The Vegas Raiders will be a natural for me.

Will there be a tailgate to Vegas? I would bet not.

Ghoolie, why would you want to move to vegas?

I thought about it but after spending a couple of weeks there I realized how sick you get fremont street and the strip after a short amount of time there.

there's nothing to do in vegas but drink and gamble, and it's in the middle of the desert.

wouldn't it make more sense to retire in california or florida?

California is going to fall into the Pacific Ocean, Florida and Texas among other southern states is going to turn into South America with Zika, new neighbors and who knows what else.

The West is only habitable with AIR CONDITIONING and fighting over water.

    I'm going to stay in OH-IO. 😆

Heard that Sheldon Adelson has pulled his financial support for the proposed stadium. Seems odd since he reportedly did not spend much on this election.

Ghoolie may be able to get a playing gig there. If he can make a living there doing that more power to him. He would not be gambling and drinking if he doesn't want to (hell, I can gamble and drink right here) I mean, he can be wrong about things about 66% of the time...but he has the right to make a living the way he wishes.

I expect we would all be surprised about the demand for accordian players.

Not San Diego. They need neither heat nor AC. But it can't have an NFL team.

Edit.... Also, Florida wil go away when La Palma lets loose

    Cool. Answer the question.

Ha, I suppose you can get used to it. I'm only a few years younger than you- but believe it- growing up in Cleveland and having an 85 degree day with 80% humidity when it only gets down to 80 at night without AC was downright miserable- to the point you couldn't sleep.

I do believe there's heat adaption, if you live in it long enough. A little story. You may know one of my hobbies is Astronomy, and about 15 yeas ago I went to The Winter Star Party in the Florida Keys- in January. Around 2AM I felt it was getting a little cool, so I decided I needed to put on a sweater. Saw a couple guys from Miami wearing parkas. 🙂 There's cold adaption too. My pal from Alaska sent me a picture of a guy walking down the street in a light jacket in Fairbanks, though Bernie said this was a little unusual. Temperature on the Bank sign read -40.

Well there it is! The advantage of living in the Beaumont 100F 90+% humidity in August is that the mosquitoes would keep you cool with their little wings. 😆

My first winter in Houston when it hit 50 deg the locals were in longjohns and winter coats. The heaviest thing I wore the entire winter was a fleece-lined windbreaker. The next winter... I was right there with them.

I never, however, adapted to Houston's humidity.

I was in San Antonio for almost 2 weeks over Christmas. The first week there it was pretty damn cold, and a northern breeze was coming in that made it worse. So I did wear a fleece. Later though, it got up to almost in the 80s.

Well, I suppose that's one small advantage in Vegas- no bugs. But plenty of other nasty things out in the desert like scorpions, Gila Monsters, and rattlesnakes. One advantage of Ohio- the first two don't exist, and though there are supposed to be a few of the latter, I've never seen a live one.

Similar experience of one of my pals. got transferred from Cleveland to Orange County CA. First winter- was out and about in a t-shirt and shorts. Neighbors thought he was nuts. Second winter- dress like the locals. 🙂

Furthermore, there is an unending bounty of opportunities for me musically. I have an audition in 7 months as a utility player for a new Cirque show slated for 2019, a ton of restaurants for accordion work, AND one of my favorite things, performing as a street musician and talking to countless people all day long. Pretty nice way for a guy to retire, if you ask me.

Ha, better invest in a trained monkey with a cup- you'd probably clean up playing the accordion on the strip. 😁

  • This may be worse news in the Raiders to Vegas story....worse than Adelson pulling out is that Goldman Sachs is also pulling out of Vegas Stadium deal.

Or, actually, in my mind, it is good news.

    http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/01/31/reports-goldman-sachs-leaving-proposed-raiders-stadium-deal/

Looks like Ghoolie and Stan may not have a team there after all. Per this, the Raiders may now attempt to see if there is still some way they can stay in Oakland.

Ronnie Lott leading a group to build a new Stadium.

One other option is for the Raiders to play in the current new 49ers stadium, permanently or while a new Oakland stadium is being built.

I hope this carpetbagging stops once and for all. Great. Admittedly, Oakland Colosseum is obviously not up to current NFL standards. But if they can get something done for the Warriors- near criminal they're ignoring the Raiders.

  • @diehardbrownsfan said:

I've read that San Diego may try to get the Raiders also.

It will cost them a new stadium. Though Qualcom would be a marginal upgrade over Oakland's dump. If they wouldn't do it for the Chargers, can't see them doing it to entice the Raiders.
