Nice, I'm batting 1,000 on my free-agency predictions so far (predicted Britt and Tretter as well as Zeitler).

Did you have 'Get a second round pick for $16m' on there as well?

Ha, nope. That took me by surprise, but I was only talking about free agency. I had trade for JimmyG though as another prediction. We'll see on that one.

  • The Ghoul must be lovin' this. He LOVES his fat-asses.

The OL needs the help badly.

    And still more OF it.

  • With the upgrading of the O line, Would love to see Mixon fall to our 2nd pick in the 2nd rd. All his intangibles rated better than the Zeke. We all know his back story, but hell, the NFL is full of 2nd chances.

Don't think Mixon will be in our plans, not after the way he cold-cocked that woman. From what I saw on his pro day, wasn't too apologetic about it either. Ray Rice is still looking for work the last I heard.

Now we can draft that rookie qb- he's going to have all day to throw. 🙂 The odds of Crow rushing for 1,000 yards just went way down too.

  • Cant believe anyone would want mixon !!!!!

Ray Rice isn't half the talent and has about 10 years on Mixon too though.

Not saying currently, but the situation is similar. Don't often agree with Charlie Casserly but this time I do. He said "wouldn't touch him, but some team will." Was that a one time incident (Dak Prescott) or a character flaw that is going to show up again? (Lawrence Phillips)

We took on a former Heisman winning qb with known character flaws- (besides the drinking, hmmm- whacked his former GF pretty good- twice http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/manziel-hit-ex-gf-hard-eardrum-ruptured-lawyer-article-1.2524654 and it bit us in the ass big time.

So for now, no thanks to this loser. I'd take Fournette, Cook, or McCafferty before I'd take a chance on this guy.

  • Like it. This is good start. Is it time for optimistic thinking yet?

Yeah and those guys are going to cost you a first rounder. No comparison.

This is the million dollar question.

A radio guy was talking about the Joe Mixon situation yesterday. He basically asked this question. Mixon was an 18 year old who couldn't control his anger, lost his shit and punched a lady. Mixon was suspended for a year and nothing else has surfaced (to my knowledge).

Mike Vick was a grown man who ran a business that revolved around the pre-meditated torture and murder of dogs. He did his time in prison and came out to a second chance in the NFL.

If Mixon never had these issues, he would undoubtedly be a 1st rd RB, but that's not why the Browns met with him. I believe the FO showed us their priorities yesterday when they dropped a zillion dollars into the o line. The analytics team obviously saw that the RB talent is sufficient, provided they receive good run blocking.

This FO doesn't want to make 1st round investments in the RB position, in my opinion. They will, however, think long and hard about adding a 1st rd talent at a deeply discounted price if they believe the off field problems will stay in the past.

I'm torn on this one, it's a high risk, high reward proposition. If Mixon has learned from his past and seeks the help he needs to cope with his anger issues, I say give the kid a chance. If he's a malignant narcissist who has no remorse for his actions, let someone else deal with the headache.

From a purely football perspective, the dude can ball. He has great vision, he's very agile, makes great cuts and also has great patience, I'm talkin' Leveon Bell patience. Also, every report I've seen has said that he killed his pro day, which included a 4.43 40 time... such a shame that he had to be so fucking stupid.

  • Greg cosell called him the most complete back in the draft, he's going to have lots of interest.

  • I suppose somebody will draft him later on in the draft... day three...

but he broke her jaw. I wouldn't sign him as an UDFA

he broke her jaw and cheekbone. Then, this past season, he gets a parking ticket, goes nuts and throws it,

hitting the parking lot attendent in the face? He still attends anger management? NO.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2017/01/27/joe-mixon-oklahoma-first-round-grade-advisory-committee/97154524/

"Last month, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ordered the release of the gruesome video showing Mixon breaking the woman’s jaw and cheekbone with a punch after she shoved Mixon and slapped both sides of his neck during the July 2014 incident. Mixon entered an Alford plea at the time, acknowledging there was likely enough evidence to convict him of a misdemeanor charge while still asserting his innocence. He did not serve jail time and was ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and undergo counseling. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said last month that, if the incident occurred now, dismissal would be the only option with Mixon.

Mixon also was suspended one game this past season for tearing up a parking ticket and throwing it, allegedly hitting a parking lot attendant in the face. Maturity and anger management are obvious questions teams will have as they continue to study Mixon in the coming months.

Schaffer said Mixon has completed all his court-mandated requirements but continues to attend anger management classes."

  • I do belive in 2nd chances, but shit man. You just can't forget that he did do that. Someone will draft him, for sure. I just hope it's not us. I had a hard time with the Crowell thing last year. A woman beater, nah f that shit, there are other players to be drafted.

    j.Mixon/ 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds, 35-inch vertical jump, a 4.25-second short shuttle and 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump. 6-1, 228

    E.Elliott/ 40yd, 4.47, Vertical,32.5, no short shuttle broad Jump, 9'10(wash) 6ft 225lbs

then again, you have the assault charge. Which most see as a Major Character issue. And I agree

Watching that won't make the NFL teams that took Mixon off their boards when that other video — of him assaulting a woman — surfaced during his final Sooners season suddenly add him back. Those coaches and general managers, maybe with unofficial orders from their owners, have it easy.

It got extremely tougher, however, for the reported 24 teams that were ready to meet with Mixon in Norman, in what played out like both his personal workout and interview session. Per the NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, the Lions, Saints, Bengals and Browns were among the strongest suitors, having talked to Mixon on Tuesday.

    Aditi Kinkhabwala@AKinkhabwala
Oklahoma's Joe Mixon not lacking for suitors. Lions, Saints, Bengals and Browns all met w/ him privately tonight before tomorrow's Pro Day.

    MORE: 2017 NFL Mock Draft

Before we go further, this compares nothing to the league's most publicized domestic violence-related incidents. Ray Rice was a fading veteran, making it a no-brainer for the Ravens to cut him. Greg Hardy was a malcontent, and once he showed the Cowboys little production or change, he was done. Josh Brown was a good, experienced kicker, but it wasn't hard for the Giants to eventually just find another.

For the better point of reference, look at last year's draft. Tyreek Hill came in with a simliar black mark and was deemed undraftable. He too had no Combine, and worse, had to rebuild his value after coming out of a Division II program, West Alabama.

The Chiefs made the call, however, to take HIll in the fifth round, and despite all the heat they took for it, landed a speedy All-Pro return specialist and offensive cog that was key to them winning the AFC West. All things considered, before the reward, they took only a small risk.

HIll, because of a difficult position to project and that small-school status, had other reasons to slide. With Mixon, the on-field evidence suggests he should be in the conversation as the third running back drafted this year, behind only LSU's Leonard Fournette and Florida State's Dalvin Cook.

It's now a staring contest between the teams still willing to select Mixon. Take him too high, say second round, and be prepared for the major, deserved backlash. Take him too low, and risk another team walking away with talent you coveted and could have had earlier.

In the end, it's best for a team that's in the MIxon mix to just take him where he's graded. There's no more fooling anyone, many teams are willing to throw character out the window for a player who will help them with winning.

Take the Lions, who already have been called out for their Mixon connection at the Combine, well before possibly maybe drafting him. If they like Mixon at No. 53 overall, they should pick him there. Hiding it for a round or two to keep up appearances only looks worse.

MORE: What we learned from the 2017 NFL Combine

It's appropriate Mixon's workout compared favorably to what Ezekiel Elliott did last year. The Cowboys, after drafting Elliott, learned in July that a woman had filed a case accusing him of assault, an alleged incident the NFL is still investigating.

Do you think that's making Jerry Jones and Dallas' brass have any doubts about their decision to take Elliott at No. 4? Nope. His rushing totals and their 13-3 record during his rookie season stand out a lot more as the probe starts to fade.

Consider the NFL's facade of blackballing Mixon to be finished. The reality is, he's going to go a lot higher than the league would like.

  • More cowbell!

  • Guess I'll say it...

I certainly don't condone what he did, but she did assault him first.

Even stupid bitches don't deserve a broken jaw tho.
