Well that's that folks, have I just cost Hue and Sashi their jobs or what.....?

1.01: Myles Garrett, DE, TAM - no introduction necessary here.

1.12: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford - Don't get the pitchforks out just yet! The most dynamic player in the draft with elite receiving skills and just a nightmare for opposing defensive co-ordinators. Scoring points is the name of the game and McCaffrey immediately helps everyone on our offense do that. Hue could use him in many ways, I think he's going to be a star for somebody and I'd like it to be us.

A small caveat with this pick is passing on Reuben Foster (best player in the draft after Garrett) here would be very difficult but his injury history is too troubling.

2.01 - Deshone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame - I'm in the take a QB every year camp no matter what. Never stop trying or looking for the guy. The flashes Kizer has shown are to me the best of all the class, he's capable of some beautiful throws and has a good arm. Consistency needs to be improved but he can be incredibly accurate in spells. I don't think the Notre Dame coach helped him too much.

He reminds me of Roethlisberger a bit, is my QB1 so getting him late in the first (I would trade up to get that 5th year option) is good value.

2.20 - Justin Evans, SS, TAM - Does everything Jamal Adams can do but hits even harder! I think Evans would usually go higher but with a strong DB class making him still available the Browns get a steal here.

3.01 - Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn - His flexibility and athleticism fit the Browns profile. In a weak DT class he may be gone by now but I've seen him fall even lower in some mocks so confident enough to include him here. Gregg Williams is a happy man so far!

4.01 - Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma - Andrew Hawkins is replaced by this speedy slot receiver with solid hands.

5.01 - Blair Brown, OLB, Ohio - Browns get a local boy with sideline to sideline speed that could make up for his small size

5.31 - Jalen Myrick, CB, Minnesota - With his 40 time he could well be gone by here but Walter Football has him as late as the 7th round.

5.37 - Eric Saubert, TE, Drake - A really athletic tight end in a strong class gives the Browns value at this pick.

6.01 - Demetrius Cox, FS, Michigan State - More speed and help for the secondary.

6.04 - J J Dielman, OL, Utah - Versatile guy that's played centre and tackle, he may well win a roster spot due to that ability to provide depth.

Well that's that folks, have I just cost Hue and Sashi their jobs or what.....?

Damn good mock if you ask me ...

Only if you like Kizer. 🙂 By now everyone should know me & Tour don't. I'm not a fan of taking a RB @ #12 either, plenty to be had in rounds 2 and lower. Oh, and I'm not a Mock-nick. Don't have the time to scout sub second round talent.

Interesting to my mind they not only went to Mixon's Pro Day, they're bringing him in for a private workout. How low would he have to fall before the Browns would take a chance on a known character risk?

Take Mixon at 52 without blinking an eye.

Don't believe all the smoke screens in these days leading into the draft. He'll be gone already by 52. If we really want him we will need to trade out of some of the later round picks to move up the chain.

ah...but the question was "how far does he fall before you take him"...?

My guess is that he goes in round 2.....and I think a lot of folks wouldnt want him(or any RB ftm) that early....

And I think you'd be right... but it would help to know if Crow will be around. Won't change my talent pool grouping, but would change my tie-breaker... except in Mixon's case. That tape has kept him off my board.

Right....and Ive seen a lot of folks suggesting we go RB later...which is fine, I guess....but I would ask how a late round rookie RB is any better than Darius Jackson or George Atkinson....(or Winston, Mostert, Watson, etc etc etc)....

Seems we should give our most recent pick ups the same chance we'd give a 4th - 5th or 6th round back....eh?

Sure... but I still add to the mix.

I continue to see value in the Day-3, BYU kid, Williams, in his tape. And the "BYU issues" I've read about pushing him down some boards, do not concern me.

Is there nothing left to believe in?

Winston was my Ground Hog. Without him casting his shadow upon our IR list, how will I know it's football season?

    ----------------------------MOCK 2.0----------------------------------

1.01: Myles Garrett, DE, TAMU - no introduction necessary here, ignore the rumours, the Browns are taking Garrett.

    Pick change - none

1.12: Gareon Conley, CB, THE OSU - A local hero for the Browns fans whom I now believe doesn't get outside the top 15 (Ideally I would trade down around 8-10 spots here and try and get both Malik McDowell and Deshone Kizer with the next two picks)

Pick change: Christian McCaffrey RB, Stanford - The main reason I've changed this pick is discovering his snap count at college, he has played a hell of a lot already so durability became a concern.

2.01 - Deshone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame - I'm in the take a QB every year camp no matter what. The flashes Kizer has shown are to me the best of all the class, he's capable of some beautiful throws and has a good enough arm. He's my QB1 so getting him late in the first (I would trade up to get that 5th year option) is good value.

    Pick change - None

2.20 - Marcus Williams, FS, Utah - Has the athleticism and play speed to shine at the NFL level and has 5+ interceptions for the last two years. Time in a NFL weight room should help him greatly.

Pick change - Justin Evans, SS, TAMU - Evans has some issues with his tackling and the angles he takes downfield.

3.01 - Bucky Hodges, TE/WR, Virginia Tech - Big guy that accelerates like a receiver and someone you can chuck it up to and most of the time he'll come down with it in his huge hands. Lined up in the slot, out wide and in the backfield. A nice match up piece for Hue.

Pick change - Montravius Adams, DT, Auburn

4.01 - Deatrich Wise, DT, Arkansas - Minor injuries have affected Wise but he has played in multiple fronts and has powerful hands and versatility.

Pick change Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma

5.01 - Blair Brown, OLB, Ohio - Browns get a local boy with sideline to sideline speed that could make up for his small size

    Pick change - none

5.31 - J J Dielman, OL, Utah - Rising in mocks and although I was originally taking him later, I like his versatility enough to take him here.

Pick change - Jalen Myrick, DE, Minnesota

5.37 - Ifeani Odenigbo, DE, Northwestern - You can never have enough pass rushers and apparently this guys power jumps off the tape. He's raw but has potential to get to the QB at the NFL level.

Pick change - Eric Saubert, TE, Drake

6.01 - Montae Nicholson, SS, Michigan State - Intriguing size and speed even if his tape is very inconsistent.

Pick change - Demetrius Cox, FS, Michigan State

6.04 - Dane Evans, QB, Tulsa - A quarterback for camp with a stupidly live arm.

Pick change - J J Dielman, QB, Utah

I get the feeling that Greg Williams can motivate him. Williams even stated himself that he feels his purpose in life is to teach young men, especially the ones that are difficult to deal with. Furthermore Malik's "motor concerns" seem largely overblown to me as he played very well against high level competition like Ramcyk and McGlinchey.

One of the main problems is that McDowell was the only player on that defense worth a squirt of piss. Playing with guys like Shelton, Ogbah, Garrett, Collins and Kirksey would defiiitely help him out.

Voch Lombardi believes that McDowell is a better prospect than Solomon Thomas, and after watching a couple of videos on the subject, he makes a very convincing argument by just showing the game tape. Malik is a freak athlete with size who can play all over the line. Dude never gives up ground and in the right situation can be a force of a nature.

Garrett at 1 McDowell at 12 is something I wouldn't hate in the least. Garret -McDowell-Shelton-Ogbah-Bryant-Meder-Collins-Kirksey--let's go rupture Worthlessberger's cervix.

  • It would not disturb me at all to get 3 defenders in the 1st round, if OJ is gone by 12.

Isn't McDowell pretty strictly a DT, where Thomas is a DE?

Nevertheless, as I mentioned, DT is, to me, a higher priority than DE give the dearth that we have at the DT spot relative to DE. While sure, it never hurts to get a great player, even at a position of surplus, you stilll need to fill the other holes on your team. And to me DT is a hole.

How do you get 3 players with only 2 picks? Unless you do a trade.

And, presuming you don't want to trade #1, where are you going to get someone to give you 2 first round picks for #12?

(Or are you talking about trading up from #33 to low in the first round?)
