Old MLB saying:

"You're going to win 40, lose 40 it's the middle 82 that decide how you do in a season."

The 2017 Cleveland Indians did very well, the 22 game win streak will live forever.

There are several including:

“No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference.” -Tommy Lasorda

That, then would be 54/54.

And teams have lost less than 54 games.

That’s why I always liked the 40/40 in a 162 game season, shows how good the 95 Indians were at 100-44.
