Hue most likely gone now....

  • If williams takes over as hc the defense likely suffers and we have to bring an oc in midseason. Do any of u think before u put ur thoughts and feelings down in this digital utopia? The problems we're already having with our qb's and  wr's and u wanna bring in a new scheme?

    Nope. They mad.

Not saying it's what I want or think should happen, but I think at this point the writing is on the wall for Hue. Once they get blown out in london I wouldn't be surprised to see a change.

There’s no tangible evidence that a change will be made when you say, so you’re really just trying to sugarcoat the fact that you want a change.

Is Rob Chudzinski looking for another shot at being a head coach again?

More than one of us here thought Haslam canned Chud too soon, the guy bled brown & orange. Fit Ghooile's profile of an up and comer. Now Jimmy is between a rock and a hard place, stick with the plan, (because of past hair trigger reactions) or keep a coach that is showing signs of being the worst HC in Browns history.

This is getting so bad, it's starting to make me look with fondness on the days of old Pat Shure-loss.

Lets not go overboard.  Even this may not be as bad as Shurmur.  To me, Shurmur was clueless regardless.  With Hue, I think he just cannot handle the double duty of being HC and OC.  If he would do one or the other, he may do OK......but not as it is now.  The only thing comparable was with Butch trying to do both HC and GM duties.

I'm a greenseer, I predicted Kessler would take snaps on sunday last week.

Hue is pretty bad,  but I would be satisfied with him giving up OC duties and remaining the HC.

    Did someone just fart?

The horrible odor emanating from the field today was detectable in the stands Tour. And to top off another thrilling way to lose a game, Joe Thomas is probably out for the year. I would gladly have settled for a tie, but NOOOOO.

Hope your London sightseeing goes well. That game in Twickenham? Either load up on antacids, or drink heavily beforehand, and during the game. Howie and the G-Man will show you how to pound Guinness like a pro.

Still agree with those that think Hue stays thru the season and returns in 2018 if certain conditions are met... e.g., OC installed... but he is sure not making it easy to maintain that view.

For me it still boils down to whether or not he loses the locker room... losing Joe is not going to make that any easier.

I choose plan B... already have a time and place set with Kizer... 😉

But nay Guiness... Beamish, will be my stout, if I can find it... otherwise Tennyson or one I've enjoyed before called "10 p" the brewer of which I forget (there was also a 15 or 20 p version which I did not think was as good). Supposedly the designations were the price of a pint once-upon-a-time.

Browns run out of reasons to stick with clueless Hue Jackson

All the way to UK for a Sporting News article? Interesting... The writer packed a lot into that article... these bits stood out...

    • "Kizer still ended up being more efficient than Kessler... " - Hue's early resolve to play Kizer needs to return come what may. It starts with a public affirmation and continues with time spent next to his rookie QB after every series.
    • "Jackson isn't complementing the other side of the ball with his game plans..." - Empty claims devoid of any explanation bother me. Sunday we ran 67 plays, 41 passes and 26 rushes. Not 50/50, but also not 75/25... about 60/40 if you do the math. Not unreasonable when a drive is derailed by penalty and/or 1st-down incompletion.
    • "Jackson has been adamant about trying to get slumping power running back Isaiah Crowell on track when receiving back Duke Johnson Jr. has been the Browns' best source of offense." - We all know Crow's limitations, his flaws/weaknesses, but this side of Dayes (who we are not seeing for some reason likely obscured by practice showings), Crow is our best power back. We saw evidence of this yesterday when he got to the 2nd level via run or especially pass. I mean hwo wasn't cheering on that one run-after-catch on the near sideline. And Duke's truth is he is not an everydown RB. We saw what happens when he takes a shot... Crow ended up in more passing situations... making good on throws to him that were above his shoe bottoms.
    • "You would think that would make Jackson feature his tight ends more in the passing game, but despite their athleticism, David Njoku and Seth DeValve have been treated more like flashes than players with substance." - Who Hue "features" in a play design can be very different from who the QB du play selects as his target... something the D can dictate. Does the author not allow that the D game plan against the same athlete's he sees?

My bottom line... It's an article with a point of view I cannot dismiss, but one which it does not support very well. It's leaving that to its like-minded readers.

  • But nay Guiness... Beamish, will be my stout, if I can find it

    Beamish is for pussies.  😛

I somewhat....but not completely disagree.  I think there IS talent on this team.  Enough talent that, imo, this team could be like .500 or close with proper instruction and coaching and decision making.  That said, yes, there are some deficiencies....glaring ones....and those ARE the responsibility of the FO.  Clearly QB is #1.  They don't have a good one and got rid of guys who would at least potentially be capable steady veteran presences on this team:  McCown and B.O.   They have cacked up furballs at the WR position.....and have deficiencies in the defensive backfield.....though I will say that they played OK yesterday.

  • Pass attempts: 3rd most in the NFL, 30TH IN YPA (plus 14 INTs, 6 more than the next worst).  Rush attempts: 20th in NFL, 15th in YPC

    Other division leaders:

Rams: 18th in pass atps, 7th in rushes, despite ranked 19th in ypc

Eagles: 12th in pass atps, 4th in rushes

This speaks to playcalling.  These teams with young QBs STRONGLY emphasize the run game, and throw the ball far less than we do with developing QBs.  We should be closer to what the Jags do, but were calling plays like we have Aaron Rodgers.  Its very frustrating.

Certainly true.....but the operative word in your statement is "ALL".....but a significant portion of the blame CAN be put on play calling.  So, when we have our HOF OT out...and they are their good pass rushers coming at our QB....what does our OC/HC call?   Slow developing, play action passes.  Instead of having the QB sit back in the shotgun and throwing quick slants to our TEs etc. he is calling plays that call for like 5 seconds of proper protection.   THAT is what I call douchebag play calling....designed to fail under those circumstances.   Sure....the LOT didn't protect for that time....and you claim you can't blame Hue for that failure.  But......

I just don't think that Hue thinks about what is going on in the game.  He has developed an offense and he has certain plays he wants to try out....and pays not one goddamned bit of attention to what is going on in the game.  I swear to fuhucking God that is what is happening with him.

    Yup.

And the pick...he threw that long ball into 3 defenders....but WAIT....what else could he have done?  If he DOESN'T throw the ball long when Hue tells him to then he gets benched.  He's much better off throwing the long INT than not.   -  That's what we've learned.

I was pissed when Jimmah fired them.  We had Norv Turner as an OC.  We had NO friggin' RB's (gimpy Willis MaGahee).  The coaches were all told to 'be patient' about the roster for this year...but what happened?  They all got fired.  Pure impatience.

Shmuck me. Just keep hue. Let him grow as a coach here.

Grow as a coach?!  The man makes some of the lousiest in game decisions.  Who in their right mind declines a 15 yard penalty to bring up 4th and 1 in that situation?  The friggin' GROUNDS KEEPER knows better than that...no?  -  All anyone had to see of Hue's ineptness at gameday decisions was the final two minutes of the first half of our first game against the Bengals in 2016.  Totally, 100% mind boggling.

As I said earlier, Hue is the OC.  Ya can't fire him right now anyhow.  We've got to play out the season.

No, not 'a' mistake.  He makes friggin' tons of 'em.  His clock management, the play calls he makes when we get near the goal line... - I don't have 'em all committed to memory, but it's a ton.  I don't like him as my game day coach.

I don't want to change coaches either.  We do that waay too much.  Ya can't get anything built that way.  It's constantly being torn down.  But I don't like the dumb decisions that he makes during games.  And it's not like he's magically NOT gonna make any more dumb decisions.  It's not like he's twelve years old and he's just learning the game of football.

I didn't like Pettine's game day calls either.  The guy tried a 60 yard field goal with Devin Hester waiting at the goal line to return it.  TWICE.  The FIRST time the dumbass Atlanta coach called TO to ice our kicker so Pettine watched Hester catch the ball in the end zone.  So Pettine, being unable to learn, did it again and Hester ALMOST took it to the house (thanks to Joel Bitonio who hit Hester when he zigged around the 20).  -  Mind you, a FG is NOT like a punt.  There are no 'gunners'.

I don't like stupid game day coaches.

  • I'm watching Wentz again. Whoever is responsible for not drafting him is fired. If Hue was part of that decision, pack your bags, a-hole. Wentz has the look of a championship qb. We have Kessler and Kizer. Everyone associated with those picks, or failing to draft Wentz and Watson, needs to be fired. The ONE POSITION we've needed for going on two decades is a QB. Obviously the people we have directing our franchise can't evaluate that particular position. Hey Sashi...bang up job so far buddy. Think he's a top 20 qb NOW, A-HOLE? Good riddance you jerk.
