Positives from the 2017 season?

  • What Tour and Z are both saying is that it seems that this team is not quite so talent deficient as it appears.

I have said that all along.   Yet...why can't they win?

Well.....they play badly at times...like...at all times... relative to the talent they possess.   They can't seem to make a positive, winning coaching decision.  The culture of losing hangs over this team.  Maybe they need a Voodoo Priestess or an Exorcist.

It wouldn't hurt if they could stay healthy...which they can't.....ever.

  • More like losing does not mean a complete absence of bright spots, Gip.

Offensively we are lacking at the skill positions, QB, RB, WR.

Defensively we are missing an FS, coverage LBs and a complementary pass rusher.

That's a lot to overcome... but not a lot to address in one offseason.

  • We don't lack as much talent as the record says. I'd say that if the entire league and analysts and all expect you to have at least 4 wins in a season looking at your roster, and you go 0-11, then the coach isn't doing his job.

BUT, the main problem, is that we lack talent in KEY positions. Lacking talent at QB, WR, and RB is like trying to play with your hand tied to your back. Anyhow, I repeat the coach should be able to overcome this situations and get some more wins.

I think we are seeing, or at least have seen, this on the D-side. But with losses of Collins, Ogbah, Ogunjoby it's gotten tougher.

O-side? Not so much, but the youth, inexperience and lack of polished skills is a much higher barrier... and that was before we lost Joe T.

One thing in common on both sides? No quit...

Yes indeed.  There are talent deficiencies as some positions....but certainly not at all.

But, again, the question is:  do we trust THESE guys to be the one's to address these deficiencies?

A lot of these deficiencies are caused by this groups pathetic talent evaluation skills.  On the other hand.....a number of the "bright spots" were also these guys choices.

But...if they are at best 50/50 with their talent selections.....quite frankly my dear, that just ain't damned good enough.

And notice this:   the best players on our biggest rival are at those positions:  QB, WR, RB.    In my opinion, 95% of the talent gap between the two teams sits right there at those spots.

Oh...and at the HC/OC spot unfortunately.

  • Other than "this season's performance will get [insert name] fired/traded/cut" or "first round pick in next draft"? What positives have you seen or can still be salvaged?

are you Shmucking nuts...positives...they did not win a game yet...they are 1-26 under a moronic coach who again, like all the other past coaches, looks clueless on the sidelines....there are still no leaders on this team...and by the way, if you go back to pettines last yr, i think they lost the last 5 games of the regular season....1-31...1 and Shmucking 31....are you kidding me...that has to be a record, not even the bucs were this Shmucked up....yikes....

    1. On behalf of me and the mouse in my pocket... yes.
    2. Pathetic? Overruled... facts not in evidence.
    3. 50/50... a/k/a better than league average, a/k/a far from "pathetic".... and that's including the 2016 WR net.

    4. Maybe I am attributing too much of what previous regimes did to them.  Still....a lot of the criticism of their actions is based on who they didn't pick vs. who they did pick.
    5. 50/50... a/k/a better than league average, a/k/a far from "pathetic".
    6. Well.....when they come close to a 50% success rate...call us and we can re-evaluate.
  • Duke

    Ogbah

  • Schobert...... I like that dude.

  • I had Mixon on my FF team against the Browns. His career day assisted me in winning the pool this week. That's positive.😁

  • The talent is very close to good... but...

I am of the belief that your QB and Head Coach are your 2 most important assets, and we have neither...

A lot of people reference other teams that turn it around in 1-2 years... they all hired effective coaches, and usually, change QBs either with a FA vet or a VERY HIGH draft pick... we can't seem to do either... Hue and RGIII was obviously not the answer (e.g., Reid/Smith, Peterson/Wentz, McVay/Goff, Carroll/ Wilson, Kubiak/Manning... those are just off the top of my head).

Frank Reich, Dave Toub, or what this article says... https://nflmocks.com/2017/11/11/2018-nfl-season-playing-new-head-coach-matchmaker/amp/

Pair one of them with Cousins and/or the top draft pick and we'll see more wins.

    Keep Hue = yikes...

  • Positives from the 2017 season...

Well the Eagles are 10-1, and Carson Wentz is proving to the NFL world that he is a franchise QB.

    laughable.

what a sham. and the suckaz will keep on suckin.
