Cousins would "seriously consider" the Browns

The Browns Board

  • It's more than money. There's at least 5 teams who can make Cousins one of the highest paid players in the game, and they have enough cap space. Even if they don't, they can still move crap around, cut veterans (sound familiar?), and generate the necessary room to absorb the massive contract. So while money is a giant factor, it doesn't necessarily give US any advantage. I'll just make up some numbers. Say the Browns offer him $24 million a year for 8 years. That's a big effing contract! Surely Cousins would take it, right?! But wait...The New York Jets and Denver Broncos offer $22 million for 8 years. Well, the Browns offered more money, so surely we'll get the prized QB!! I mean, right? RIGHT?!

No. No. No. No. No.....NO. For example, remember that free safety we threw that giant contract at last year? You know, because we DIDN'T HAVE ONE ON THE EFFING ROSTER. We made, by far, the best offer. So surely he accepted it....NOPE. He went to the Ravens. Which is just awesome. Why on earth would he turn down several million dollars A YEAR? Because we're US. We're the worst team in the history of the entire NFL. Let that sink in for a bit. The worst team in the universe doesn't get the prized free agent QB.

  • The rewards for being in one freaking wild card game since 1999 (0-1 vs pizzburg yet) and recently going 1-31 ALMOST 0-32 and 0-16 with miserable detroit.

Put the sign out FREE AGENTS WELCOME , and reasonable rates at the Motel 6 with free breakfast. 😆

  • The thing is, it's not like Jacksonville was thought of as much better until this season't turnaround.

    It can be done.

And a great defense to carry them along, came close to JAX going farther than they did. If you looked at the odds only NE was a real prohibitive favorite in this "parity by design" NFL.....give everyone a shot every 5 years, ah, Cleveland and Detroit must be next?

Saw Kurt on NFL Live yesterday. He was in MN "for the Super Bowl" 😉😉

Pretty much toed the same line about money not being the only factor.

When the host asked about his interest in playing for the Vikes, the predominantly Viking crowd went a little crazy.

    Why the low-ball offer?

  • Well... appears we are not expecting to sign Cousins... 🙂

Scot McCloughan to work for Browns during 2018 draft

The extreme makeover of the Cleveland Browns' scouting department continued Saturday when former Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan joined the organization as a personnel consultant to assist the team in this year's draft, according to league sources.

  • I sure wish Cousins would come here but I still think Denver or Arizona will get him....maybe Bradford for one year to hold the fort down? You would think sooner or later he could make it through a season and he is accurate....🙂

  • I think this was posted earlier in this thread, but it carries more meaning now....

Probably not but I guess we have to see how everything plays out, and in that link:

    1. Philadelphia Eagles

Why it could happen: This is all about Wentz's recovery. He tore his ACL in December, roughly nine months before the start of the 2018 season. So, Wentz -- a quarterback who relies on his mobility behind the line of scrimmage -- might not be fully healthy in time for the regular season. Just because Adrian Peterson did it doesn't mean Wentz will be able to.

That headline isn’t indicative of what McCloughan said at all.

  • Nobody saw "special" when Nick Foles walks into the room... but dude just won the Superbowl against Tom Shmucking Brady!

Maybe QB isn't the end all be all that many on this board want to try and make it out to be.

Wentz is sooo good. The Eagles don't win the Superbowl if Wentz doesn't get injured, period.

It's all about BELIEF and working together as one, trusting each other and fighting for your brothers.

There is no reason that next season it can't be us.

"It's our turn" is the mentality it is going to take to win.

Saying we NEED 2 or 3 more years of being competitive and slow progress is NEVER GOING TO WORK- EVER.

Mentality has to be "NOW OR NEVER"

  • Wentz=overrated.

Um, sure. Good enough to win a SB on a great team. I'll digress and kick Cal in the a$$ right now- who needs a rocket arm QB to win a SB? (like Allen?) Foles and Brady were tossing up accurate ducks plenty of times.

You got some of that stuff you're smoking? 0-16 to the SB?

Who must have been very lucky to throw so many really great passes throughout this year's playoffs + the SB.

If a player plays great that many times in a row, then you have to give it up for him. It wasn't the team yesterday. The defense collapsed nearly every possession until the end. He did what great QBs do, willed them into score after score after score.

And, if that's not enough - Washington is now considering franchise tagging Cousins a 3rd time per a scroll I saw on ESPN early this morning.  And why?  They want exchange value on him from the determined team that will want him.  Stay tuned...

Foles was absolutely marvelous last night. Always seemed in control, and really appeared to be beyond comfortable in that offense.

Pederson is an Andy Reid disciple (minus the crumbling under pressure) and Foles has played in that system before.
