Pryor Wants Back On Browns?

I literally can't stomach another 1st round bust. Corey Coleman better be healthy, and he better be good. And we better get someone who can hit him in stride.

Coleman's magical 3rd year comes up... If he doesn't show any consistent progress this season.. it's time to move on from him...

For what it's worth, Mary Kay reported that Pryor would welcome the opportunity to play with the Browns again, and it's likely we'd want him back as well. She went on to say that Pryor didn't really want to leave, and after we signed Britt (quality move, Sashi) the money designed for the WR position was spent. Pryor's agent screwed up, but Pryor ultimately had the last say. I'd have very little issue with signing both Pryor AND Landry this offseason, and that would give us much needed depth, speed, and ability at a crucial offensive position. I mean, Josh Gordon, Jarvis Landry, Terrell Pryor, and Corey Coleman appears to be a nice little arsenal, especially when you toss in other weapons like Duke Johnson, David Njoku, Seth Devalve, whoever we draft (anybody like Saquon Barkley out there?) What could AJ McCarron do with a supporting cast like that? A solid OL? Would we have a legitimate offense...finally?
You know, what I don't hear too much about is our defense. I realize QBs consume much of our time and energy (especially if you are a Browns fan) but an equally disturbing issue is the lack of a quality defense. Our offense played well enough in a couple games to win, but our defense was just so abysmal in the red zone and simply could not force turnovers. As much as I love Saquon, I don't think we can go QB and RB with picks 1 and 4. We just need so much help on defense, and quality running backs will be available in round 2 (very quality actually). Minkah Fitzpatrick is still the pick at 4, and even though it's February, I won't change my mind. Unfortunately, I see absolutely NO WAY we make the pick at 1 and 4. We will trade down at least one of these, and I'd bet money on it. Having the 1 and 4 is simply too much temptation for a GM to have, and every single one of these arrogant jerks just HAS to prove they're the smartest and they can get more picks and still draft the biggest stud. Trust me...we're trading out from one of these, and I just pray it's not both.

All that said, there was only 1 other NFL team that wanted him beside us when given his very first chance to stay or go. He chose to leave the 1 NFL Team that gave his NFL career CPR in life after failure as an NFL QB for just a couple more dollars and what was allegedly going to be a much better QB to fetch passes for. And when that ended in disappointment, he now wants to come back?
If we're going to pony up cash for a FA WR - there's a FA Pro Bowl WR with an unparalleled work ethic named Jarvis Landry. I see Pryor as the same type of WR that Josh Gordon is in terms of the types of routes they run best (except he's not nearly as talented). Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen either guy dive for a pass? Pryor isn't really a change of direction guy or a precise route runner. It would be nice if our WR Corps offered a variety of strengths to our QB so we're way more difficult to defend than we have been. Beggars can't be choosy unless they have the most money to spend out of 32 NFL teams. We have the most money to spend - so let's alpha dawg this thing and lasso up Landry which would go a long way in recruiting the interest of FA QB...

Yes, it is crazy that a #1 pick from 2 years ago wouldn't be on the roster. Pryor wouldn't be a bad #3 at best WR.. not as a starter.
Speaking of free agency and best available defensive players:
OLB: Nigel Bradham, Dee Ford, Anthony Hitchens, and a bunch of scrubs.
ILB: NaVorro Bowman and a bunch of over-the-hill guys like derrick johnson.S: Morgan Burnett, LaMarcus Joyner, Ricardo Allen, Kenny Vaccarro, Eric Reid
CB: Malcolm Butler, EJ Gaines, Rashaan Melvin, all 3 of the Bears starters [kyle fuller, prince amukumara, bryce callahan], Trumaine Johnson, and Darqueze Dennard. -

Some GMs won't necessarily keep a player they didn't draft who hasn't produced much when he has actually been healthy enough to be on the active roster.
I wouldn't bet money on it, but like I said before, it wouldn't shock me if he's not with the Browns come the opening game.

It's called a draft bust hey it happens.....you just hate to see that big miss and play the coulda' had game. Happened too often in the post 1999 era.

Maybe I'm being greedy, but I want both Pryor AND Landry. Like you said, they both possess vastly different skill sets, and I want what they both provide. Before you say, "That's way too much money to spend on one position", think about not needing to use a draft pick (at least an early one) on a WR. Wouldn't that be nice? With our 5 early picks we could focus QB, FS, RB, OL, and CB. We could take WR right out of the equation. Gordon, Pryor, Landry, Coleman, and Higgins. Yes please. Too many receivers and not enough passes to go around? We'll see. Gordon is far from a guarantee, and Coleman has missed 20 games in 2 years.

I've watched enough of the Willie Sneads & Gabriel's walking out of here to success..Fixing the QB position fixes a lot of the surrounding positions. But it is also not alarming that Coleman seldomly faced physical corners at Baylor. He got a free run. Rarely he ever gets a 5 yard free run in NFL..He'll continue to see it till the tape shows he can beat it..Crap-less talent evaluations has cost us this pick. Am done with the guy. Watch same size Cooper Kupp get off LOS. than watch this guys effort..
-
There are a lot of WR options that are better than Pryor. Let him be someone else's headache.
-
Only other WR FA [ in addition to Gordon and Landry ] worth talking about at this point are allen robinson and sammy watkins..
Other targets are marqise lee who is no better than higgins, and cameron meredith who blew all his knee ligaments.

Yeah, we're not far apart at all in wanting the WR Corps FINALLY adequate. I'm "getting Jiggy with it" too - we're way overdue my man.
So, another option would be to trade Gordon while it looks like he has his life in order for however long it will be is to package him and Baylor buddy Coleman to an interested taker. Some of the need to win THIS year teams will be interested. Jerry Jones get sequoia wood factors on those kids that played high school/college ball in Texas so he might be ambitious. If so, we re-sign Pryor after we have added Landry in FA. Then we also draft ourselves a WR like Anthony Miller or an equivalent in round 2 or 3. Here's a video featuring Memphis' Anthony Miller:
Just as much as our WR Corps needs a talent over haul - we need better guys at covering all the teams that always have much better WR Corps than our's. I'm kind of pumped at our amount to spend as well as our volume of high round picks. We even have some trade bait that can help us further with this for once...

ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi characterized Corey Coleman's future with the Browns as "uncertain."Coach Hue Jackson's initial first-round pick in Cleveland, Coleman was selected 15th overall in 2016. He has missed 13 of a possible 32 games to a pair of broken hands. When on the field, Coleman has produced just one 100-yard game, with two of his five career touchdowns coming that afternoon. Coleman is now facing an off-field matter stemming from a 2016 New Year's Eve incident and ended 2017 on a horrible note with an awful dropped pass to seal the Browns' 0-16 season. Coleman is under team control for three more years but could be on the block. - ROTOWORLDWonder what kind of return they could get for him?

If we get rid of Coleman, who do we have to step in on the roster? Higgins ? Don't see any free agents wanting to come here.

Am thinking most teams would have that same thought on Gordon at this time Flug. Not even sure if Chiefs would have considered Gordon in A.Smith trade to combo with T.Hill? Am thinking if Josh is still >WR< Josh going into the trade deadline this upcoming season. may prove to all teams he's a clean football Josh. honestly, i hope he stays a brown

Why?? I'd rather give Johnny a second shot.

As far as I'm concerned, we are damn near at "ground zero" as far as WR goes......
Gordon...Takes plays off IF he remains eligible to play.
Coleman...Oft injured & does little when healthy.
Oh, I'm really counting on these two! Let's bring Pryor back as well...after all, THREE head cases are better than two!!!

Trading Josh has been kicked around, but the problem is we would never get anything close to comparable value for him. You may laugh at me, but Josh is the best receiver in the league...when in shape and fully committed. You saw what he could do with limited practice time and a struggling qb. Do you have any idea what he'd do with Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady? Josh's value isn't just his direct contribution, but what he does for others. Remember that amazing 58 yard TD by Higgins? That was largely made possible by Josh commanding so much attention. Additionally, he's a stout blocker down field. He can easily beat press coverage, he's wicked in the slot, and he's a terrific "big play" guy, which is something our team just didn't have without him. Remember that stunning bomb against Pittsburgh? Kizer threw the best pass of his life to Gordon who was the only receiver running down the field. Steelers knew it was going to him and still couldn't stop it. THAT'S difficult to part with.
It's difficult to place a value on that caliber of player when you add in the fact that he's missed the better part of 3 years for substance abuse issues. How do you even try to get value? If you get a 3rd round pick, and Gordon stays on the field and goes for 1600 yards and 12 tds, Browns fans will absolutely lose their minds. Heck, I doubt you'd be able to get a 3rd rounder, more likely it'd be a 4th at BEST. And honestly, what are the chances a 4th or 5th round guy makes the team and develops into a contributer? To me, you keep Gordon hands DOWN. We've invested so much time in the man, and when it comes to addicts, you never know when they'll figure it out. Sometimes it's never, but other times they finally figure out what works for them, how to beat back the demons, and take back control of their lives. I wouldn't trade Josh, not now. He came back in 2017 for 5 games and from everything Hue said, was a model teammate. He was on time for meetings and practice. And best of all? He looked like Josh Gordon on the field. Go back and look at the 1st game he played in at San Diego. He could've had 200 yards EASY if Kizer played a better game. Oh, and an all-pro corner was on him.
