Apparently Browns “not enamored” with any of the top QBs

  • I like Mayfield, but it's silly to draft him so high. Like I said before - Weeden had great numbers. I want the qb that can become one of the great ones. He's a terrific college qb - but so was Weeden. and jm. and so many others.

Mayfield is good, but he's short, not all that mature, is an attention hog on and off the field, floats a lot of passes. That's great when you have the best offensive in college football. But what happens when he faces NFL pass rushing every week, with narrow windows, complex coverages, and can't zing a pass on a midrange throw without it being intercepted? I can see Washington getting him about what, the 14th or 15th pick?

Who knows? nobody, really. We'll see how it all plays out in the draft.

No ding dong.. you get the QB you want first.. You don't screw around and let your guy get away.. that's what we did the last couple of season.. Don't be stupid

Barkley is the best RB in the draft Fruitcake. Crowell is gone. Smarten up.

I see what you're saying, but if you're the BROWNS of ALL the teams in the league, you simply can't take a chance on not getting the QB you have rated the highest.  There's simply no excuse, when you have the #1 and the #4 picks, NOT to draft the guy you have ranked ahead of everybody.  We're the Browns, the team above all others that have been absolutely TORTURED by the QB position, and now we have the #1 pick, a chance to take whoever we want, and we need to grab the guy we like the best.

Think about what happens if we take Saquon first overall.  That leaves two picks before our #4.  Two chances for other teams to either draft the QB we like the best or make an insane trade with a team who wants to move up to draft one.  Does Saquon look like a crazy-awesome prospect?  Would he immediately help us score points?  Heck yes, but NOTHING matters until you get the QB position right, and NO team knows that more than the Browns!  We can pick whichever QB we want, and nothing can change that.  We have the first pick and we literally get to select who we WANT.  We don't get cute, we don't try to maximize our draft capital and trade down, we don't draft a RB #1, and if Saquon is available at #4, then we look at drafting him, but if it's me, I take Minkah Fitzpatrick all day.  Look at the RB's who were drafted after the first round last year and still did great.  Kareem Hunt?  Kamara?  Dorsey will find our stud RB in the 2nd or 3rd round, he's done it before.

Baker Mayfield should be drafted #1, and the ONLY other guy I'd be ok with is Rosen.  Oh, and if we draft Josh Allen, I will comb the planet to find an experimental "Total Recall" procedure and have the doctor implant memories of me being a Patriots fan because Allen looks like a complete JOKE to me.  He's Paxton Lynch 2.0, and I have NO IDEA why he's getting a pass on his horrible accuracy and terrible numbers.

The Colts and Giants both need a RB.

So do the Browns. What better weapon to have than a stud RB that would even help Kizer. Last season Crowell did not look that great. Duke and Barkley.

Why would they disrespect an entire group of potential QBs before the draft?

    Its all a smoke screen.

Even though the Browns pick # 1,  keeping the other team making assumptions screws up their draft boards when they guess wrong. Especially when youre picking again at # 4.

    Fair point.

  • Who knows? nobody, really. We'll see how it all plays out in the draft.

And yet we spend thread after thread, page after page, post after post talking about it.   Where if not one other word were said on this board about what the Browns would do...it would not change a thing.

    Fair to say?

It's true. A nice running back tandem would certainly help our quarterbacks. I guess my argument is that it's such a deep running back draft, and I'd rather go Minkah Fitzpatrick at 4, and then draft a RB in the 2nd round. But honestly, my only real care in the world regarding the draft is that we get our QB with the first pick. That's all I really care about. If we go QB #1 and then take Saquon at 4, I'm cool with it. Just get the qb you like the best at 1, and everything else is gravy.

  • I honestly think it's Darnold at one, and Minkah at 4. Maybe Barkley, but again, a very fine rb draft.

I was listening to an interview with the Packers GM on NFL radio today and he was saying the combine is  especially important now for the medical evals they get. I like the way Rosen plays the game, but as I listened to him I can't just block out the shoulder surgery last year and the concussions problems this year. I like Darnold far better than Allen or any other even though he is not ready to come in and just start. He's rugged, has an accurate arm and in the long run has the best chance to be the face of the franchise. I would not be disappointed with him and Fitzpatrick at 1 & 4 and use some of those extras to move back into the 1st to get one of many quality RBs.

  • Not surprised this time of year and with this crop.  No one jumps out at me as the next Peyton Manning.  What is worse is for the past two seasons QBs were passed on because this QB class was loaded, guess the analysts meant drunk.

Agreed. Reports are coming out the most scouts around the NFL see Darnold as the #1 QB.

Was he also the GM that stated he drafts "on 60% need & 40% BPA"?

I think they like his mobility and bigger arm.

  • DIRE QB SITUATION FOR DECADES.  DRAFT TWO QB'S.  #1 AND ANOTHER LATER.  ROOKIE QB'S ARE CHEAP.  THIS MUST HAPPEN.  WHY, WHY, WHY NOT.  NO RETREADS OR HIGH PRICED BUMS.  FRESH START.  THIS TEAM CAN'T GO 0-17.

Yeah and now their comparing him favorably to Carson Wentz and that he will grade higher than all the QBs last year

I watched Rosen out play him head to head.  Hard to argue otherwise.

Pisses me off to this day that we had Wentz and Watson in our lap and decided to pass.

Don't know about that. I was driving to racquetball and only heard part of what he said.

And multiple shots at my favorite, Dak Prescott.

  • We have great opportunity right now to have our cake and eat it too.  We could get an already proven young QB for only a 2nd and 3rd pick and at much less salary than they're talking about paying Cousins.  Trade for Nick Foles and then you can both Barkley and Fitzpatrick or Chubb.

Wouldnt we all rather have a proven experienced qb than flip a coin on another rookie?  We would still have Kizer to let develop like we should have.  Sounds like the smart and perfect way to go .... Nothing wasted and we get everyone we like, and the basis for a true super bowl ready team.

Somethin' like that. When do the team head fakes, unknown sources, unauthorized staff comments and okie-dokes start for real?
