Apparently Browns “not enamored” with any of the top QBs
-
Agreed. Reports are coming out the most scouts around the NFL see Darnold as the #1 QB.
I think they like his mobility and bigger arm.
-
Yeah and now their comparing him favorably to Carson Wentz and that he will grade higher than all the QBs last year
I watched Rosen out play him head to head. Hard to argue otherwise.
Pisses me off to this day that we had Wentz and Watson in our lap and decided to pass.
-
I was listening to an interview with the Packers GM on NFL radio today and he was saying the combine is especially important now for the medical evals they get.
Was he also the GM that stated he drafts "on 60% need & 40% BPA"?

Don't know about that. I was driving to racquetball and only heard part of what he said.

And multiple shots at my favorite, Dak Prescott.

We have great opportunity right now to have our cake and eat it too. We could get an already proven young QB for only a 2nd and 3rd pick and at much less salary than they're talking about paying Cousins. Trade for Nick Foles and then you can both Barkley and Fitzpatrick or Chubb.
Wouldnt we all rather have a proven experienced qb than flip a coin on another rookie? We would still have Kizer to let develop like we should have. Sounds like the smart and perfect way to go .... Nothing wasted and we get everyone we like, and the basis for a true super bowl ready team.

Somethin' like that. When do the team head fakes, unknown sources, unauthorized staff comments and okie-dokes start for real?

What has Foles done outside of Philly? He was mediocre with the Rams and Chiefs. Paying a high price for him is buying high on fool’s gold.

I just can't see it. What I don't understand is why everyone is giving Darnold a complete pass on his turnovers. If a guy turned it over 22 times in college, why is that going to be different in the pros? I heard one analyst say that Darnold makes more terrible decisions than anyone, and quite often his interceptions came from throwing into double and triple coverage. He further stated that those passes aren't from a "gunslinger mentality", those passes are just awful decisions that hurt his team.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Darnold didn't play quarterback until his senior year at high school, and before that he was a freaking linebacker. You heard me...a LINEBACKER. If you watch his mechanics, you can kind of see that he's more of an athlete than a refined QB. Darnold is a terrific athlete, a fine person (by all accounts), and definitely has a lot of traits you would look for in a QB, but the guy is so completely RAW, that if you're a team like the Browns, you simply cannot take him #1, or really, take him anywhere.
A team that has suffered for 18 years without a true franchise QB can't afford to gamble on a raw QB. Maybe Josh Allen and Sam Darnold DO have the most potential "upside", but that's not what we need. We need the QB who knows football and the QB position. Somebody who has played QB more than 3 years, someone who doesn't turn it over ALL THE TIME, and definitely a guy who can put the ball where it's supposed to go, TO THE GUY it's supposed to go TO. How many games last year did we lose because of turnovers? How many times did we fans throw our arms up and scream when Kizer's inaccuracy flared up and resulted in a pick or punt? Doesn't it make sense to draft a guy who is known for putting the ball on the screws and letting his guy run with it for extra yards? I don't have stat handy, but I'd bet money we were at the bottom of the league in YAC last year.
For these reasons, the only guys we can draft are Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen. I have Mayfield my clear winner because of his accuracy, his vast collegiate production, his underrated athleticism, his insane leadership, and because he won two different jobs at two different schools as a freaking walk-on. And yes, his antics can be a tad much, but like I said before, I actually WANT a little fire in our team's belly. I've also heard that Mayfield is going to blow people away in the interviews because he comes off as such a football enthusiast, and it's basically his life. Dorsey says he wants "Real Football Players", well...here ya go. The ONLY other guy I would consider is Josh Rosen, and I might have him ranked higher than Mayfield if he didn't have the concussion and shoulder injury history. But he does, and we can't afford to draft a guy who has a serious history of being injured.

Barkley is the best RB in the draft Fruitcake. Crowell is gone. Smarten up.
Running backs dont win super bowls.. QB's and stoudt defenses win championships.. Running backs are a dime a dozen fruit cake.

I kind of agree with you, but I still believe a stout running back prospect can make a huge difference. However, I personally think drafting a running back very high is more of a "cherry on top" kind of thing, and it's something you do when you already have the infrastructure of your team down pat. If you're the worst team in the universe, I don't believe it's wise to use a high pick on a back, but if you're a team that already has their QB and a strong defense, then maybe the right RB can definitely put you over the top.

Why would the Colts pick a QB @ 1 when it would cause a $hitstorm? Luck may as well pack up and leave right after the draft because drafting QB there would be nothing but a controversy and place more pressure than whats already on him. After a loss or ill timed INT and everyone would be calling for the new QB in town just like you guys do.
Also, Luck are being paid big money and youre going to add another QB who will make top 5 rookie money.
The Giants were 29th in rushing last year and the Colts were 24th. Both teams would take Barkley and say thank you Cleveland. The Colts had Al Gore who they will not resign and he will be 35 this May. The Colts are taking Barkley if the Browns dont.
There is not 1 QB in this draft who is head and shoulders above the rest.

Barkley is a special player with size to boot.
Receiver, rusher and kick returner.

Doubtful the Eagles would trade Foles anyway, until they're sure Wentz is 100% or close to it. That won't be until after the draft.

Flaw in that thinking- report at the Combine, Giants committed to Eli, will consider a trade down. Assuming the Browns draft their QB @ #1, the Broncos and Jets (if either don't land Cousins) KNOW #2 and #3 are available for a QB. Moving up from #5 or #6 a few spots won't be cost prohibitive, if they see "the guy" they gotta have there. Entirely possible QBs could come off the board with the first three picks, with New York and the Colts trading down.
Regarding the Colts, their OL is a mess, I'd think getting a bodyguard to keep Luck in one piece is a higher priority than a running back.

Eli is going to be 37, I think. So, look to the Giants to draft a qb to develop. Geno Smith is behind him,
and ...well, that isn't going to happen with Gino.

That's the way I see it Cal. For the Giants- Saquon or QBOTF? Nutso IMHO to think Eli + Saquon + OBJ = deep playoff run. PS Combine chatter is OBJ wants starting QB money, more than Antonio Brown's $17 million a year.
Colts? Trade down with Denver or the Jets = pick up an extra second rounder (at least), draft McGlinchey or Brown.
