  • I think this is an overpay but we have a top of cap space and frankly given our record we are going to have to overpay players in the short term. That being said the devil is in the details of the contract, he is guaranteed less than 10 mil per year on average for the deal, so there is probably opt out room after 3 years if needed. If Browns start winning games, people won't care about his contract.

Don't worry, this is what a rebuild looks like. Just remember the posts from last year. The Browns FO is very advanced and they are doing things that the other 31 teams are just too stupid to understand.

Landry is a Hue Jackson pick. Make no mistake about it. Hue likes the dink and dump, high percentage offense. Hue is NOT going to stretch the field and he not going to choose a QB who isn't a black Tarkenton. Get ready for Lamarkenton.

  • Haha, let's not spend any money and continue to suck.  The master plan!

  • Two things-

1- Landry was on a one year trial and then we would have to try and resign him. We basically are signing him to a 4 year extension for 10 million a year. Not bad for a guy that you won't have to question his hands or if the QB threw a catchable ball. If Landry don't catch it, it's on the QB.

2- Duke Johnson may or may not be here after this year. With Barkley starting Duke may not even see the field that much. Gordon, Landry, Njoku, Barkley and Coleman with Taylor's scrambling threat will be a nightmare to try and stop- but it'll be fun to watch them try anyway 😉

Po we love ya- but Barkley probably isn't happening.

Hue isn't making the pick- since you made $300k betting the slots, and won't bet me $35 bucks we're not taking Jackson? Get outta here with that weak $hit. You can can the Jimmy cheapster crap too, since Haslam apparently OKed Dorsey spending $73 million of his money on a guy some idjits think is under talented and over paid.  Hue isn't smart enough (by your constant past posting) to pick up a pro bowl WR for a fourth round pick. He wanted to spend a second and third round on a quarterback who probably isn't even as good as Taylor. You so blind to not even see Hue is 100% in damage control mode after the rest of the NFL made him look like a total buffoon?

Sure, if Sashi was still in charge, we'd still be stuck with Kizer, and certainly we're trading down out of #4 to take that next great slot receiver Christian Kirk in the bottom half of the first round.

  • ha that’s the best yet, no hint as to why we even have pick #4 in the first place

I can give you a clue if you like...

Id be surprised if Dorsey doesn’t trade back there. The pick has huge value.

  • But since that comes with our territory...

Folks have said we overpaid for all our FA signings as well.. no better example than Currie. Thing is none of those were headline contracts.

Back on Landry... I think the trend in his stats is informative. His YPR was trending up until he ran into Cutler in 2017. Not sure how that squares with the rise in TDs last season, but I can't do all the work here... 😉

  • This is a great signing, he is exactly what this team needs ... talented, passionate, healthy, young ... GOOD AT HIS JOB. If Landry catches 8 balls for 80 yards to keep drives going while Gordon scores two TDS on 4 grabs and Nojoku 1 TD on three grabs ... we're winning that game.

This guy is a QUARTERBACK'S BEST FRIEND. We are drafting a quarterback #1 ... If I have to spell it out any further ...

If we signed a top LT to protect the QB no one would bitch about the money ... but we sign perhaps THE best possession receiver in the league to protect the QB ... and we overpaid because he doesn't make enough big plays. They all don't have to be "big" ... there's other weapons for that, but he have to start by in fact "MAKING PLAYS" big or small.

We're in the business of winning football games. This guy just filled a huge need so we can finally start moving in that direction.

    Duke Johnson? Bitch, please ...

  • Duke in the possession WR role is not far-fetched. He was our leading receiver last season.

Do you measure the volume after you wank off to the thought of Barkley?   Per some accounts, the amount comes to about  10 cc:

No...not far fetched.  But probably half or more of his catches were made when he lined up in the backfield.  He can certainly still do that. And he would still be  decent run threat.

Duke is a third down back with one year left on his contract.

    Valuable player, sure.

Long-term WR answer for this franchise ... no.
