Changing of the Guard - The Times We live in
-
The first time I lived through a changing of the guard, Jim Brown retired. The emergence of Sipe was a big change for us, as was his leaving. Sam and Sipe in exchange for Bernie and Marty was another, but whew....we wound up being okay. I think the next one was Modell moving the team.
I personally believe we are living in the age of a new Browns franchise, and me, not being blinded by fanaticism, believes there is good reason for this. In the division and Ben, Flacco are getting long in the tooth. I am not sure yet about Ben, but his miracle throws have almost vanished. He is still a physical bastard and his team is in a weird place. I AM however sure about Tom Brady. Only 80's Steeler-type miraculous luck allows Brady to beat Atlanta, and last year, he wasn't enough. This year? He is a ghost. His mental quickness has declined. He is getting hit more and it is NOT the OL. Defenses are not as quick to adjust as I am, but mark my words, this year will be total crap for Tom and the Pats.
But I digress. Fan-masturbation aside, do you think this is a moment in time that is going to mark a new era for the Browns? I do. 2018-19 will be more than just a year in the records. I believe it will be memorable for fans of all 32 teams as it applies to the Browns.
COming in 2019 - 20...............Brownsania (collectable material) in mall stores near you.
All ya have to do is hit on your draft picks Tommy. When you gonna admit Garrett is way more than a Zumba Instructor? Then we get Ward- stud. Ain't gonna anoint Baker after one decent win. But then Dorsey ships out Gordon for yet another violation of team rules. Big John hits on Callaway and Avery- and that's the best Draft the Browns have had since Ozzie and Matthews way back in '78?
Regarding the Pats- Kraft Cheese is making a mistake letting Brady "he's like a son to me" tell him what to do. Billy Boy knows the score, and wanted to keep Garrapolo. Roberto wants to get Brady to one last SB, and he just might not be good enough to do it anymore- even with Gordon. Billy cut Bernie due to "diminishing skills" Tom may just might have hit the age wall, time will tell.
PS & BS. Pre draft, I had the opinion Baker might be the second coming of Drew Brees. We'll see how that turns out.

He is impressive. He still has a ways to go for his video. Sorry, but that pizzed me off. But of course he is a stud. I don't know if he is all you believe he is, but time will tell.

As I said, Dorsey hit it out of the park on several pitches. Mayfield is the schidt.

My feel is the same as it was all last year. I think Brady is sliding downhill. He is holding the ball longer, and frankly, I am sick of the Pats bullschidt. Let's see what Belichik does without a great QB.

He looks like he was born to do this crap. Darnold really did look like Foghorn Leghorn. People may say it was "just the Jets", but we spotted them 14 points. We still nee d aback up. Tyrod Taylor really blows.

I like to call it the "Transition of Power" in the AFC.
Transitioning out:
Pittsburgh
New England
Transitioning in:
Jacksonville
KC
browns
This is based on 3 games.
Pitt's D is the contributing factor to their apparent downfall. A bad D is very untypical of a Steeler team... and NE looks mediocre all the way around.
But it's still early. Remember 2013!!!!...Steelers started 0-4, and the enemies of Steeler Nation believed they were finally witnessing the end of the scourge brought upon them by the Steelers for decades was finally over!

Anyone is a fool to make predictions that these two teams are done. As Mark Twain said, "rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated". That said, New England and Pitt do NOT seem to have very good defenses this year, and that may be their achilles heels. But....they each have TB and BR respectively, and those guys will always give those teams a chance.
When one of them goes the way of Jimmy Garropolo, then maybe we can say that things will be different in the AFC this year. (I do not see any Nick Foles at backup for either team.......Hoyer can be OK.....but he cannot do what Brady does)

I am and have long been sick of the Patriots. I’ll thoroughly enjoy them being rubbish when it happens

It happens, Stinks, the Steelers gave away a lot of turnovers to the Browns, and then Tampa helpd the Steelers. I just think the Steelers are entering that stale era, not like our 0 - 16 debacle, but perhaps an 8-8 7-9/ I do think the Browns, now with youth and some real impact players and a QB are going to be a prominent team in the AFC. Interesting times.

Always? Usually his rants are full of lies and hypocrisy. But keep going down on him. Someday he may let you have his baby.

Last Thursday night, did we witness a star being born?
If so, then the answer to your question is probably Yes.
A lot of naysayers are claiming the Jets suck and the win means little. But I thought it was the BROWNS who sucked? So, I guess come Monday when the Browns are 2 -1 - 1, it will be the Raiders who stink, then...... then ........ then.......... The Browns are going to disrupt all the axxhole experts....Like Trump did to the Dildocrats. Baker is the schidt.
-
And the triumphant return of warm and fuzzy Ghoolie… ?
And the triumphant return of warm and fuzzy Ghoolie… ?
His newfound Raiders fandom isn't going so well with them starting 0-3...

< fingers crossed >
...all I know right now is that it was a different friggin' ball game after he came in. - For the first time in a decade, we went into half-time losing by double digits and I actually felt that we could still win the game. Prior to 1:42 left in the half, I didn't think we'd win a game all season.

Dude,
WTF is it with you people who think that my fanship is based on wins? Honestly, are you not able to comprehend what you read?
I NEVER said I would support the Raiders because I believed they were going to be a great SB champion and rule the NFL. Let me type S L O W L Y and see if you can keep up. Now, wipe the boogers off your fingers and listen up.
1) For the 2.119th time.................
I don't have an emotional attachment to this Browns team. I have friends here, and a lot of great memories. For ME..........Me, not you, FOR ME.........This team is not the true, authentic Cleveland Browns. That team, FOR ME......... is dead, poof, long gone. Now, I have interest in the fake Browns or whatever you would call them, and I hope they do well. If they clinic and go 14 - 1-1 and then win it all, I will feel the same way. You are not going to see me coming in here on a bandwagon, as if my own, personal existence is elevated because of the Browns success.
2) I will become a "fan" of the Raydahhs.....not because of wins and losses.............but because I am building a home in Vegas, have friends and customers there, and, as a cool form of entertainment, being at a Vegas Raiders game will be THE place to be.
Don't be a simpleton all your life. Sit up and pay attention. I think the Browns will win Sunday. Rayders 0 - 4? Cool, Browns 2-1-1 OR 1 -2 - 1? All cool with me.

I don't have a problem with someone picking the team where they live to follow. Many Oilers fans stopped being fans when they became the Titans in Tenn. and have not returned via the Texans. Some have but many also have not. It's a new generation. It's a new team that only shares "Houston" with the old.
I never really had a pro team until I went to grad school in Greeley and watched the Broncos training camp "live" there for free during the summers. BTW I wish we could talk Kubiak to come out of coaching retirement and make this thing really work in Cleveland.
At the same time you all know why I came and I stayed because I have loved the interaction with all the old Browns fans who are still loyal to that name despite all the changes, trials and tribulations. Loyalty to me is a superior quality, like honesty. It can't be bought or sold.

CLE can now attract a real head coach with where they are now with Haslam, Dorsey, , Haley, Williams, Baker and the crew. It's a fairly distinguished group of guys at this point.
