  • Not sure on who for HC, I wouldn't mind Mike Zimmer if the Vikings pull the plug.

I would love to see Darrell Bevell as the OC coaching Mayfield though regardless of HC.

  • I get that Lincoln Riley screams Sean Mcvay clone, but the differences are stark as well. I'd want to see Riley start as an OC in the NFL at least a year before jumping head first into that situation.

Betting money IMO today would be Dave Toub in KC. It's not a "sexy" pick by any means but he's incredibly familiar with Dorsey and has done some great work in KC as well.

Lincoln Riley has one season as a college coach under his belt. Not sure I get where everyone is coming from with all the love.

  • We should break new ground and do head coach by committee.

One for first down..one for 2nd...you get the idea.

Or get Parcells out of retirement.

As cool as it would be to have two of my favorite Nebraska quarterbacks coaching both my college and pro teams, I would be pretty damn underwhelmed with Zac Taylor.

He has one season where he was named interim offensive coordinator with the Dolphins, when his father-in-law was the coach. Aside from that, his only coordinator experience is a one-year stint at Cincinnati (the college) in 2016.

I don’t care that Goff is the second coming of David this season, Taylor isn’t ready to be the Goliath in charge yet.

No guarantees he's the guy or even if he would be a good HC, however go back and read the comments and opinions when the Rams hired McVay 2 seasons ago.  No one had a clue who the dude was and thought the Rams were stupid.

If Dorsey could find a way to trade a LB to KC, say the likes of Jamie Collins to lock-up Toub? He might avoid the rush of waiting thru the playoffs..Toub has spent 17 seasons split up with Philly,Bears & KC..Toub spent 11 seasons at Missouri as strength/conditioning coach.(also needed).Andy Reid was the OL coach there too..He's not a NFL re-thread coach nor College hopeful. We have some talent. It's just not getting the upgraded techniques needed in the NFL..Toub carries enough league experience, like Nagy at Bears, that he could bring some much needed G00D position coaches along also.. colleges coaches? imo, they have a small list of position coaches teaching college techs not pro level//

  • Don't bet on Harbaugh.

If he were to leave my team, I'd want him to come to my other team. He's literally they exact opposite of Hue.

    But he ain't leaving

  • Names for permanent job;

Dave Toub    Special teams coach for Chiefs

    Lincoln Riley.....HC of  Oklahoma

I have said Munchak.....though no one else has mentioned him.

    Name names here.

lmao....Riley makes over 5 million a year now and is likely to bump up to 6.5-7 shortly if they make the playoff.....he proably wouldnt even take the Browns HC ob if offered.  The idea that he is going to go from a perfect HC situation at OU to a coordinator job anywhere in the nfl is absurd.

Problem is- he's under contract with KC and any offer would be considered tampering at this point in the season...  Now when the Chiefs are in Cleveland- and he's on the field- hey Dave you interested?

BTW, some of the posters here have already so soured on the Browns- they'd probably vote for the Homeless Guy as next coach.  🙂

I’m not saying he wouldn’t work, but I’d be a bit more skeptical than if it were someone with more coordinator experience.

I’m usually pretty happy to have my skepticism shattered.

And tell me how or when I remotely said he would? I swear to God, some of you mofos just love posting dramatic crap because you love how panties feel bunched up in your butt.

Yes wise guy I understand he wouldn't take an OC job. I was simply stating that ideally I'd want to see Riley succeed offensively in the NFL like McVay did before taking the plunge. We've seen too many wonder coaches from the NCAA ranks (Chip Kelly anyone?) fall flat on their faces. I don't think the Browns can afford to take that risk.

Riley is like 40 years old and making $5 million a year at a powerhouse program.  He'd be a FOOL to leave if you ask me.  The only thing is, many times coaches dream of going to the pros.  Sometimes that dream, and the prestige of coaching in the big leagues, outweighs logic.

But you're right, it'd be absurd if he left.  I know I wouldn't!

  • I know that a "retread" is not the preferred way to go around here,  but lets make note of the fact that  a few of the HCs in the NFL who ARE considered at the top of their game indeed have been "retreads":

Belichick, Andy Reid,  Pete Carroll whose team is coming on strong,

Some other retreads are not doing so well currently...or are mediocre, or are just getting a program going:

John Gruden, Pat Shurmur, Doug Marrone,

So, to me, the answer is that we could possibly be just as successful with a retread as with a  "new, young, hot" guy.

The NFL copycat league  seems to currently be all about the New young hot guy......because of Sean McVay.   But the fact of the matter is that teams that are currently successful are just as likely have had a retread coach bringing them that success.

  • I just hope the next new head coach isn't currently a head coach or in a media role.

  • which regime was he again? Honestly I vaguely remember the name but have abs no idea when he was here. It's all a blur, like the QB's

Flipper replaced Shanahan as  OC in Pettine's 2nd season.

WTF difference does that make.  I just hope the next coach can effing coach and can effing win.

D.i.c.k. Vermeil was in the media a long time...and came back and won a SB.    As for "currently a HC"   do you mean, like in college?  I do doubt that the Browns will be hiring the HC of any other current HC of an NFL team.

What if BB said:  I want to retire as HC of the NEP....in order to pursue becoming the HC of the CBs once again.

  • "I knew that was coming," Riley said during his weekly news conference. "No, not right now. You sit here and answer these questions and I always want to be truthful. The truth for me is I love Oklahoma. I love coaching here. I love college football. I certainly don't have that itch right now. Don't know that I ever will.

"But I'm never going to be a guy that stands up here and says no way, no how with any of these things ever happening. I don't know that. But I know right now I could care less about the NFL."

Of course Riley is going to tell the press that right now, he is happy where he's at. Oklahoma has an outside chance of making the playoffs and they are in the middle of the season. Ask him how he feels once the college season is over. I'd bet he'd change his tune then. Not saying I want him here. But the above means nothing.

The Phucking difference it makes is I don't want to see a regurgitated guy that couldn't cut it with another team - and probably better players, named the next new head coach of the Cleveland Browns.... Pretty self explanatory, or so I thought anyway.
