WEEK 5 - BROWNS an early +3 underdog and the O/U is 47 on MNF in SF........now +5

  • PFF ranks SF's D as their #3 "streaming Defense" this week...

    3. San Francisco 49ers (25%) vs. Cleveland (-3.5)

    image_2019_10_01T13_08_16_412Z.png

Like with Tennessee, San Francisco is more than just a defense to stream this week — this could be an every-week starting defense moving forward, thanks in part due to a massively improved defensive line following the arrivals of Nick Bosa and Dee Ford. San Francisco’s defense ranks third-best in fantasy points per game and fourth-best in PFF grade, and is well rested coming off of the bye, while Cleveland ranks third-worst in fantasy points allowed (12.3). Even after a big Week 4, Cleveland still ranks fourth-worst in team passer rating, while San Francisco ranks third-best in passer rating allowed.

Three Niner games - Bucs figuring out their identity, Bengals are a mess and the Steelers breaking in a new QB and weapons. They did what they were supposed to do.

We are gonna run the ball on them and their Top corner is out.   If we don’t get a pocket collapse in key situations (not even talking about their edge pressure) I like our matchups on the perimeter.

Truthfully, Personnel wise we’ve played three other teams with a better secondary.  Arguably all the four teams the Jets were pretty feisty in week 2.

No argument there, but up front that D is stout.

And on Offense they will pound the rock... capably.

Reminder 1: BLT put up a buck-seventy-three on the ground on us.

Reminder 2: Thru 3 weeks we were near the bottom of the league in depending PAPs... and that's JimmyG's forte'.

Feels like we've had more primetime games this season than we've had combined since '99...

No doubt the BROWNS came into this season as the media darlings and got the primetime games on the schedule.

They may have revived some of that interest with the win over the Ravens, a win on MNF will fan the fires again.

They were talking on the radio, that the Seattle game maybe pushed to 4:30 from 1:00 to be broadcast nationally.

Yeah, strength of 49ers D is undoubtedly front 7. Buckner, Bosa, Ford, Armstead and Alexander and Warner playing behind them...all at a very high level. I dont know if this will have a huge effect, but there will be times they will be rushing Armstead and Buckner up the middle, and both of those guys are 6'7". Probably not an issue on long drops, but might on short ones. Rookie Dre Greenlaw has played well as well, but honestly Nickel Back K'Waun Williams plays alot more...and yeah, I know you guys probably know that name.  😁  He's been pretty damn good in SF and had an INT last week.

Also something to be aware of, the D-Line isn't just those 4 guys. They've got a really good rotation. Solomon Thomas hasn't been great as a pass rusher, but he's an excellent run defender and plays inside and out. Ronald Blair has been really good as rotational DE. A name to keep an eye on tho? DJ Jones. He'll play quite a bit. Armstead and Buckner are tall, lean DTs (and Armstead will play DE as well). Jones is a space clogger. If the Browns try to go run heavy, DJ will be out there a lot. It won't show in the stats, but he's played well.

And Lamar had how many of those?  He’s a bottom 5 “thrower” probably a Top 5 running back yes running back in the league

The Niners attack and style more in tact with what the Rams do.

You should... you've been collecting 1st-round DLs for years now... 4 of the last 5 IIRC...

Damn near approached Matt Millan's fetish for WRs...

You're going to see a lot of 2 TE sets from us... no way we are letting our OTs face Bosa and Ford without a heavy dose of chipping

I think the Browns will go big at times and run right at Dee Ford and I expect the Browns to get the young pup Bosa thinking early use his first step against him and drop screens over him.  That’s what I expect.  He had tremendous ability but he’s played 4 games in 2 years and he’s still learning but you guys have a cornerstone for years.

On the other side the Browns will need to stop the run.  It’s the same approach they needed to take against the Rams and Ravens.  The zone blocking scheme is different.  On a positive note we arent trying to swat a fly this week and trying to corral a guy like Jackson on the downside it takes just as much discipline stringing the run out and it really takes the DTs slamming in and getting penetration on the snap- we have three guys that have shown the ability to the that. On a side note Our D coordinator saw you guys twice last year when he was with the Cards I trust he knows what it takes.

Call me homer but i think this is actually a good matchup for the Browns.

SF has played the Bengals, the Steelers and the Bucs.... After watching that MNF game last night I can’t take any of there numbers seriously...(just like the Ravens numbers...)

if the Browns play like they did against the Ravens, get all their players back from last week and pick up a defender or two off the injury list...

I’m feeling good about this one too.

    Ward, Landry, Higgins, Greedy, Richardson

    These are 5 huge injuries.

if you put a gun to my head losing Landry probably worst player to lose out of the group.

Richardson is important we need him against the zone scheme this an ideal scheme for his talents.

Ward or Greedy are huge in this game although.  The Niners are a controlled passing team we absolutely need to challenge the underneath stuff and we haven’t the last two weeks.

    higgins is Mayfields security blanket.

im honestly torn but I’ll still with Landry. And I settle with 2 of the 5 hopefully.

Well, embarrassingly, the Cards won BOTH games against SF last year. Matt Breida was hurt during the game so only got 8 carries (Alfred Morris carried 18 times), but Breida averaged 7 yards per carry in that game. In the second meeting Breida was PLAYING hurt and averaged 2.6 yards per carry.

You can really look at those two numbers and essentially make anything you want out of them. LOL.

Those were both CJ Beathard games (third QB, not by a small margin) and the Cards never faced Garoppolo in SF (they faced him once with the Pats).

Naw...its not homer of you. I can see what you see. I see if differently of course and that can just as easily be called homeristic.  😁

For me, its about one stat. Its a team stat which is difficult but there really isn't any getting around it because its so glaring.

49ers Record with Beathard at QB: 1-9

49ers Record with Mullins at QB: 3-5

49ers record with Garoppolo at QB: 9-2. (Only losses to Minn at Minn and KC at KC...and that's the game where he tore the ACL. He's never lost at Levi's)

This is a different team with Jimmy behind center and they win games I don't think they have any business winning.

Sometimes even the best get "outschemed"... so you just tip your hat and move on.

I think you'll agree that we have a DC that can do that.
