For those that will lose everything, we can't forget to count the upcoming stress and mental health related deaths and suicides from people who never got sick, and had they have gotten sick, had a 99% chance of recovering in days... unless of course they couldn't say no to the evil loud speaker when asked if they would like to "Super Size That" and were stage 2 obesity or higher, then in that case, they may have had just a 96% chance of recovering in days.

Lol I forgot about Boogie/Francise

Your bat shit crazy is hanging out

I wonder how many precious lives the common flu has claimed this year... or is it in quarantine as well?
I gave you the data...
Less than half the current number in 3 times the time. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm
What number of deaths do you want to see before we bother you again? 100K? 150k?

That link itself says it's basically guesswork and mathematical models and they don't really know... and despite that the numbers are the exact same as last year and not nearly as high as 2014 when we didn't hear any of this fear mongering about the flu.
And I wouldn't doubt that "covid" is being counted among those totals... so again, where is the common flu? That's right, it's Covid.

^ Yep, that mother fucker right there.
So my daughter has to write a 3rd year paper in PT school and because of my earlier post about heart disease being 15.5% of the world's death rate, and with the overwhelming underlying cause of that disease being obesity, she has elected to write the paper on:
"Obesity causing heart disease vs drain on the world's health care system and it being a "contagious disease" with the current state of parenting, advertising, instant gratification, ect..".
( ^ that's my title of her paper, her's is much better )
It isn't due until September, but as crazy as that kid is, she has already gotten a jump on it and says the numbers on the healthcare system alone are absolutely mind boggling. She also said that since "everyone and their mother is going to do their paper on COVID", she knows her's will stand out and keep her atop of the other 87 students in the 11th ranked PT school on the planet. < gratuitous proud dad boast right there
I have bookmarked this post and will post the paper here once she's done.

Also a funny little curiosity, I can't help but notice those with out an original opinion re: football - I.e. those who over generalize so greatly that their posts are poorly constructed, miss the mark, inaccurate, little of any attention to detail.... Are some of the same people taking a similar stance re: this CoViD crisis.
It's almost as if critical thinking, experience, willingness to be open to information and making level headed decisions are thrown almost completely out of the window regardless of topic.

I keep hearing that, but no one ever gives any stats.
Why is that?
Because it's hard to get being in the future and all I suppose... hard to get like the correct number of people who have actually had this virus and either didn't even know it or were sick for a short period of time, and either way they never got tested to be included in the stats, making this virus far less deadly than is being reported by our trusted media and politicians.... maybe more contagious, I'll give you that, but far less deadly.

No... it's not. Covid-19 was not prevalent during this past flu season. Plus you may not realize it, but there is a test for the common seasonal flu. And it has the advantage of being proven, available and everything.
CDC estimates are not "guesswork". They are based upon statistical modelling refined over decades of data collection.
Yes... the hospitalizations this year are the same as last. So what? Did you bother to look at the estimated number of cases for the 2019-20 season? Calculate the lethality? It was 0.10%.
The most lethal flu season in the past decade was 2014-15 with a 0.17% lethality. (It was in the data I originally posted.
Covid? Based on confirmed cases it's >5%. Sure this is higher than the actual number, but with such shitty testing in the world leader in cases and deaths... us... we may never know the real number. Best estimates are it's between 1% and 2%... or basically about 10x the lethality of the "flu".
Here's a gift for you...
Do not dismiss out of hand...
... what it is you do not understand.
Instead endeavor to get a clue...
... sorry Po, this ain't the flu.

C'mon, DB... It's not as if we've never had a recession before.
So where are the numbers?

You have touched on an excellent point which a good friend of mine, who is a psychologist, has written about. The topic is how science deniers fail to appreciate detail, or complexities, in argument. They think in broad concepts, black and white. Exactly what you refer to. This is far from talking about football, but then again this topic is also. For those interested here is the article: https://newsregister.com/article?articleTitle=jeremy-shapiro-science-deniers-fail-to-appreciate-complexities--1526674871--29659--commentary

Typical flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, headaches, runny or stuffy nose, fatigue and, sometimes, vomiting and diarrhea, according to the CDC. Flu symptoms often come on suddenly. Most people who get the flu will recover in less than two weeks. But in some people, the flu causes complications, including pneumonia. The overall hospitalization rate in the U.S. for flu this season is about 68 hospitalizations per 100,000 people, according to the CDC.
With COVID-19, doctors are still trying to understand the full picture of disease symptoms and severity. Reported symptoms in patients have varied from mild to severe, and can include fever, cough and shortness of breath, according to the CDC. Other symptoms may include fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell. COVID-19 symptoms appear to come on more gradually than those of flu, according to Healthline.
So, is it the flu or not? I don't know about you but I've had the CHILLS many time when I've had the flu but apparently I must have had Coronavirus the whole time...
I've always heard if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
