Rumors - Fall CFB Season will not happen (B1G and PAC Cancelled)
-
From the sporting news....with millions of dollars on the line and the financial futures of some schools in the balance. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-football/news/big-ten-cancel-college-football-season/1ankbrw64sxy41ck4o76eu40t2
.....The MAC's decision also affects ACC schedules, which released earlier this week: Pitt, Boston College and Notre Dame all had MAC teams listed as their plus-one nonconference opponent. The MAC's decision brings the total number of canceled FBS seasons to 13 after independent UConn canceled its season on Wednesday.
This is not an issue affecting just college football's highest division, either. Several FCS conferences have decided to postpone their season until the spring, and both of the NCAA's lower divisions have canceled their fall sports seasons outright.
If the Big Ten decided to become the first Power 5 program to make that decision, however, it could very well spell the end of college football season this fall....... continued.......

The thing I just don't get is why go through everything they did this last week (making schedules, discussing attendance policies, etc) just to know this was coming? Why not just do this last week?

Sounds like the Big 10 and PAC 12 will cancel the fall sports for 2020.

Play College Football!

Still not decided.

TUESDAY NOON - I was watching our local news and sports Monday night on the implications of the MAC and other moves so far on my alma mater YSU from AD Ron Strollo. By YSU not going to Akron and playing they will miss out on a $300,000 payday.
In turn two lower schools come to YSU and will get paid so in total it's pretty much a wash on those three games. Other schools who go to the big time P5 can get paydays that run into the millions. You can see how this works and most athletic budgets are built around the football budget, about 80% in YSU's case.
No football no women's tennis, golf, no men's minor sports the whole thing starts falling apart.
What about paying for these massive capital improvement projects ? Student attendance ? Scholarships ? Employment at sporting venues ?
When they pull the plug on college football it will run into the billions !

But...they have NOT officially implemented or authorized the cancelation.
Edit...though now, I am seeing on ESPN that they are making it official.
Pac 12 also. It is fucked up that those two say that they can't play....yet the ACC/B12/SEC says they can. (and those leagues are operating in the states that are getting hit worst right now with the virus)

So strange. If some P5 conferences play and some don't then what? Will there be bowl games? National championship playoffs? Will it crash during the season?
It sure is a different year many traditions just won't happen this year.
Well we always have the 2020 presidential race.

College football cancellations will cost big universities billions of dollars
Daniel RobertsAugust 12, 2020, 1:23 PM EDT·6 mins read.......Just two months ago, despite the ongoing pandemic, college football insiders widely expected the fall season to happen as planned, and the biggest question was whether schools would be able to host fans in the stands at their games. Even after the Ivy League canceled fall sports last month, it appeared the “Power 5” conferences (Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, ACC, and PAC-12) would still play on.
Now it’s all crumbling. On Tuesday, the Big Ten announced it will not play football in the fall. The PAC-12 quickly followed. The MAC and Mountain West Conference, non-Power 5 conferences, canceled their fall seasons over the weekend. Of the 130 schools in the FBS system (Football Bowl Subdivision), 53 now say they won’t play in the fall.
The Big Ten and PAC-12 comprise 26 of the 65 Power 5 schools, including big names like Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State in the Big Ten, and USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Oregon in the PAC-12....... continued at Yahoo finance........
