TUESDAY NOON - I was watching our local news and sports Monday night on the implications of the MAC and other moves so far on my alma mater YSU from AD Ron Strollo. By YSU not going to Akron and playing they will miss out on a $300,000 payday.
In turn two lower schools come to YSU and will get paid so in total it's pretty much a wash on those three games. Other schools who go to the big time P5 can get paydays that run into the millions. You can see how this works and most athletic budgets are built around the football budget, about 80% in YSU's case.
No football no women's tennis, golf, no men's minor sports the whole thing starts falling apart.
What about paying for these massive capital improvement projects ? Student attendance ? Scholarships ? Employment at sporting venues ?
When they pull the plug on college football it will run into the billions !

But...they have NOT officially implemented or authorized the cancelation.
Edit...though now, I am seeing on ESPN that they are making it official.
Pac 12 also. It is fucked up that those two say that they can't play....yet the ACC/B12/SEC says they can. (and those leagues are operating in the states that are getting hit worst right now with the virus)

So strange. If some P5 conferences play and some don't then what? Will there be bowl games? National championship playoffs? Will it crash during the season?
It sure is a different year many traditions just won't happen this year.

College football cancellations will cost big universities billions of dollars

Even after the Ivy League canceled fall sports last month, it appeared the “Power 5” conferences (Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, ACC, and PAC-12) would still play on.
Now it’s all crumbling. On Tuesday, the Big Ten announced it will not play football in the fall. The PAC-12 quickly followed. The MAC and Mountain West Conference, non-Power 5 conferences, canceled their fall seasons over the weekend. Of the 130 schools in the FBS system (Football Bowl Subdivision), 53 now say they won’t play in the fall.
The Big Ten and PAC-12 comprise 26 of the 65 Power 5 schools, including big names like Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State in the Big Ten, and USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Oregon in the PAC-12....... continued at Yahoo finance........
